Travel addict anthem. "Ever since my childhood I've been scared, I've been afraid, of being trapped by circumstance, of staying in one place, and so I always keep a small bag full of clothes carefully stored, somewhere secret, somewhere safe, somewhere close to the door."
I've just discovered him, and oh my God! he's a great composer! He really got inside of my hearth, what a great vibe, just don't know what to write... he's great!
Thank you so much, Frank. This song has made me finally get my arse into gear and start making serious plans for my road trip. 3 months through Africa, here I come!
This song has kept me awake at night the last 2 weeks. Every time I'm about to drop off I start singing the chorus. I'd laugh, but I'm too tired. I'd hate it, but he video makes me wish I was there at all the house parties! guess I'm just going to have to continue not sleeping!
It takes a special talent to do what this man does with just words and a guitar. Frank you are a true legend it was a pleasure seeing you live earlier this year! Look forward to next time.
saw frank turner in reading this weekend, i have to say he was one of the best performances i saw, this guy is awsome, and how he got us all to sit down, funny stuff, he is one i would recommend :)
Can't remember the last time a song resonated with me so much. Just got back from travelling and its taking a great deal of effort to not just up and go again. Nearly turned round in the airport. Life flows and is so extraordinarily simple when you are moving. More concerned with being and less concerned with doing. God these feet are itching! At least I am focused now - get back out to the road asap! Really loving your work. Look forward to seeing you live some time
Not many people can pull off a song about being on the road as well as Frank Turner and I can honestly say I have never seen a more "honest" artist. Lot's of people claim to tell it how it is but no one does it better than FT. Well done man, you were awesome at Reading!
Saw him twice in one day at Leeds Fest. On the Lock Up Stage I was three rows back and sang my heart out to every song, and it was fucking beautiful. He's such a legend is Frank.
everytime he says "i drank with drifters in vienna" i remember how he bought me a beer after his first show in austria. i'm not drifting, though. still, one day the kindness will be repaid.
Does watching this video make anyone wish it was summer again and we were all sitting outside in a t shirt, beer in hand, listening to some (amazing) live music? Just a thought.
And I've driven across deserts driven by the irony That only being shackled to the road could ever I be free That is an amazing lyric, and overall an amazing song!
Thank you, Radio Guerilla for giving me the opportynity to discover Frank Turner ! Please, Frank, come in Roumania too ! Me and my friends will surelly come to sing your songs :D !! Keep up the good work !
Awesome song. I checked out his back catalogue and he's a brilliant artist with some amazing stories. I love this song especially. Zane Lowe was hammering it on his show. It makes me wanna just throw everything away and go travelling around the world. To The East To The East
I love how you can clearly see how happy he is right through this who;e video and how much music means to him. Amazing artists, truly one of my all time favourits. Would love to see him live when i get the chance
Saw him twice at Reading. Absolutely amazing - only bad thing is cause he puts so much into his music, it always sounds so much better live (which you'll rarely see) than on record (which you can, and I do, listen to all the time)...
I saw Frank open for Flogging Molly in Charlotte. And in typical Flogging Molly fashion, they always have amazing opening acts. I'm definitely grabbing some of Frank's stuff next chance I get.
"Driven by the irony that only being shackled to the road can ever I be free"
If there was ever a song lyric that spoke to me...
