First of, budget model monitors forget it. I don't even think these ICC profiles are accurate for budget monitors and that mainly has to do with the quality of the panel. QC standards are really low and no panel is equal, the cheaper you go the more noticeable it gets. I think Samsung's for their VA panels should be extremely accurate for high-end models, because the QC of the panels should be great. Mid tier, maybe. LG, I think most mid tier and definitely high tier are extremely accurate from experience for their IPS panels. LG also typically states in the sheets if the panel is calibrated, I think samsung does too. All other manufacturers, yeah better get someone that can calibrate for you.
Will you ever be reviewing the benq 2546k? Would love to finally have that proper comparison with the omen x 25 and it’s just a legendary monitor tbh gotta try it out sometime id hope
When i install any icc profile on my lg 27gp850 the colors become very desaturated. when i remove it the colors are back to normal, monitor settings are default, nvidia control panel default, reinstalled drivers with DDU, reisntalled windows, ddint help. so why lie about needing to install an ICC profile when it makes your monitor have no color ?

I think when you shoot a talking head shot you should add some hand gesture to make in more natural and less stiff, that's just my opinion through. Interesting topic btw, keep up the great work.
Yeah you're right.. talking to the camera is actually pretty hard. But I'm already feeling more comfortable. Eventually I won't talk like a roboter anymore 🤖

Yo, I love your videos. Would you be willing to take a look at another budget 144hz curved monitor? Dell S2721HGF (or Dell S2421HGF). I've been considering buying that one for a long time now considering the price (around 220€) and what it offers. Main reason is that it's VA so I would expect good contrast and little backlight bleeding.
icc profile only effects certain apps. internet browser, windows desktop or games does not benefit from it so out of the box colors do matter unless you use adobe softwares or something
That's not 100% true. Every application benefits from the calibration part of the ICC because this is realized through the video card gamma table. The profiling part though indeed only works in applications that support color management. And decent browsers like Chrome and Firefox support color management (for the most part). Unfortunately color management still isn't applied to TH-cam videos.
I just switched to an icc I found for my pixio px7 prime after learning that it has good dcip3 accuracy and that the default profiles that windows has do not let it actually display dcip3... Now in some programs that I suspect are all the ones that are colour managed, the saturation is just much lower and washed out. Like discord or edge browser. I thought maybe it's just that's how the colours are meant to look but I imagine iphone OLED displays are very accurate and the iphone shows all these same things to be way more saturated. What should I do?
About the sRGB accuracy (as shown in above table - where 4 should be the maximum) - is that for Delta 2000 to Daylight locus & Delta 2000 to BlackBody locus?! 🤔 Just trying to figure out - if my profile is good enough. And those are the only Delta measurements/values i could find - while checking DisplayCal Profile Information. Where.... my Delta 2000 to Daylight locus is 0.29 and Delta 2000 to BlackBody locus is 4.89 (which would be bad - since it's above 4 - if that's actually what you were talking about 😬).
@@benjapizarro981 Buttery smooth. It's my first high refresh rate monitor (ignoring the old electron shower monitors) but that's not even the best bit. THE COLOURS. It is really bright, so I leave the brightness on 0, and use the Radeon software to decrease it by an additional -5. I also use techless's ICC profile and tweaks. Honestly, just get it, you won't regret it. Unless you have a bigger budget for better colours or refresh rate.

@Ladioz Not at all. It’s the best monitor I’ve got. Using it on the PS5 atm and the IPS panel is amazing. Bought the XL2411k too this year but it’s not that good for story-games or YT 😅 The Ex2510 is fast enough for FPS game too. Was a bit worried at first but now…like I said best monitor I‘ve got. That’s why I‘m about to order another one.
@Ladioz I was quite surprised they sound so good. I mean they are monitor speakers u can’t compare them to real speakers but they are good enough for YT or watching Movies. Used them for gaming too. (Story Games)

The ICC actually consists of two parts. The calibration part of the ICC (gamma, RGB balance and such) is used by the windows desktop and games. So at least it's of some use for gaming and non-colormanaged applications.
I'm using DisplayCAL. The reason as to why a part of my ICC works on desktop is that I'm creating a combined XYZ Lut + Matrix profile. The matrix part will be loaded into the video card gamma table (vcgt) and thus work with every application. This is not as good as full color management, but at least it's some level of calibration.
No, you should not. I have two MSI G241 - both manufactured in August 2021 - and they display color slightly different. I had to adjust the RGB levels differently and also the results with DisplayCAL and i1 spectrophotometer where different for each of the monitors.
Should you use an ICC profile on a monitor that is pre-calibrated at factory? Like the PG42UQ? @techless currently im using rtings ICC profile in HDR (Color Profiles (Advanced)) and in SDR (Color profiles) and im using DisplayCAL profile loader to calibrate rather than windows calibration.

What about manufacturer's ICC profiles downloadable from their support pages? Are they accurate enough compared to reviewer's?

I use RTings icc profile for my XL2546K unit and it's quite good in terms of color accuracy for being a TN panel.

I read somewhere that the 165hz uses a different panel than the 144hz. so a comparison would be justified if so.

RGB balance works as well. Though everything related to color saturation, hue or luminance doesn't work.
