Enjoyed this review, Steve, because my friend has one. It's 100% original, not restored, barks so sweet and knocks you back in the seat, just like the Gods of GT intended. Rock on.

It's just odd to me now calling these muscle cars with only 300hp some more some less!! I guess because we've all been spoiled with these new cars being 600hp or a new turbo 4 cylinder having 400hp It's just crazy to me

Yikes! THANK YOU! I was but a lowly freelancer/columnist for R&C and MCR, (and according to some) constant annoyance to the great John Dianna. The WAW effort predated the magazine era and the owners of the show were NOT car guys, hence calling Shel ‘Snake’ was not my idea. He was a great man, became a good friend and treated me like royalty till the day he passed. Imagine watching Vegas NHRA & NASCAR events with him in the next seat…
Your work shows the style I always strived for- informal, friendly but dammit here’s the FACTS! Keep it coming! Let’s meet up at SEMA this year!

I’m from Rhode Island, home of Tasca Ford a major Shelby dealer back in the day. I remember occasionally seeing these cars on the street. Absolutely nothing in ‘66 had the ferocious presence these cars had. Just sitting parked they had an aura of being no compromise/all business, never mind idling at a stoplight or just rumbling by.

another issue with seat belts (ford introduced them in 1956 I think) was that the lap belt was most common, and it acted as a pivot point in an accident--you were more likely to bend at the waist and hammer your face into the metal dash. I bring this up because as you can see by the seat back being moved at the end of this video...there's no latch holding it in place. If you had a good set of Kelsey Hayes disc brakes on your first gen Mustang instead of the drums, and no passenger in the seat, a sudden stop would cause the seat back to snap forward. Unless you blew $7 on the bench seat option, but you usually planned to have a passenger in that setup :)

When I lived in Las Vegas I got to watch Carrol Shelby drive a Brand New or possibly a prototype Viper around Las Vegas Speedway. We had driven an old Dodge Power Wagon up into the stands while the Speedwaywas being built. The track was just gravel and it looked like they were going 100+ miles an hour. We could only hit about 40 but it was a great day. One of Carrols friends had a Corvette driving school on the road course there.

The '65 GT 350 base model also came with the lighter-weight steel wheels, but most optioned the wheels pictured on this one. The passenger side outside mirror was not included.
This is a very nice looking GT350.

Horn buttons on Fords,, centre of the wheel, end of turn signal stalk, rim blow. And that is between 69-74.
Though a proper pushbutton sw would have been better

You left out....Over rider traction bars in the back THAT WORKED! and Komi Shocks!.....The kool mag wheels....all 65's had Holley "Le Mans" style float bowl carburetors.....The 66's were neat with the side windows but, only the early 66's and 350R's had those traction bars that were not cheap to install....350H's with a C4.....Not my style!

When I was growing up, there was a '66 shelby in a junkyard near where we used to play. God.....to be able to go back in time. From what I understand, it was crushed. There was no use in making a repo, since it was 1973 so I know it was a real one.
