I have one best and thats only due to Neil Peart writing lyrics, let alone his percussion skills. Lifeson has a really unique style that matches his sense of humor. Actually they are famous for their CRAZY WILD light shows, pyro, and lasers! Watch Live in Halifax 1987! Their light show was known for having MORE WATTAGE then ALL OF BROADWAY'S lights combined, which is a LOT! They also made the claim, unproven, that at the start of each tour they carried enough explosives/pyro to blow up a small European/African Country - the wattage claim was a FACT! They were known as having one of the best live shows of any and ALL of the 80s bands! They were one of the first to buy their own lighting and sound equipment rather then renting it and as such every Tour the show got bigger and BIGGER! They had something like 24 to 28 Semi Trucks to carry their stage show around from town to town and they only played during the week and EVERY Weekend they flew home to Mississauga on the weekends to spend with their Wives and Kids!
On top of that they were the QUINTESSENTIAL MUSICIANS who wanted nothing more then to give their fans their Money's worth every performance!

There are so many Triumph Songs that are incredible!! Most of there songs have words of inspiration!!! Something we certainly miss in this day an age. You are so good at breaking down the Vocals and instrumentation!! Here are a few of the songs I would recommend. Magic Power, Follow your Heart, Never Surrender, Somebody's out there, Hold on just to name a few. I promise you you'll not be disappointed!!

I was gonna say before even watching your reaction that he knocks it out of the stadium during this performance. The comment that stands out is "how incredibly well-blended his registers are." I had been thinking the same for years, but didn't know how to articulate that observation. His transitions are so natural and effortless, and, at the same time, so surefooted - strident, even.
Your comment about their apparent approachability is right on the money, as well, because they are all really great people who couldn't be more approachable.
Wish I had been old enough to attend this festival. It had its problems, but many of the performances (Triumph and Missing Persons spring to mind) were just outstanding.

Your first Triumph reaction was the first reaction of yours that watched and I was hooked on you. So happy to see more Triumph. These guys came out when I was in grade 7 so, I grew up with them. Many great songs by these guys and some that were not considered singles I think were should have been. One of my favs called The City: War March/ El Duende Agonizante/Minstrels Lament. Rik Emmett is one amazing musician and Triumph a great band!

Great reaction! I am and have been a huge Triumph fan since 1981. Rik Emmett is one of the most talented and versatile guitar players out there and had an incredible singing voice. Another great song from this same show that you must see is Never Surrender. Incredible version of the song.
Also, the drummer, Gil Moore, also sings lead. Check out When The Lights Go Down and Rock And Roll Machine from this same performance

Hi Bethany, thank you for shining the light on Triumph and reminding us how truly great they were. It’s another sad example of record company interference that ultimately ended them. Rik Emmett is an amazing vocalist. But you should also check out drummer Gil Moore’s vocals. He is an amazing singer as well. There’s a wonderful documentary about Triumph on Crave right now if you want to check it out.

Bethany..a few thoughts. First off..the smile your face that takes over as soon as that 1st verse starts telegraphs every feeling you are going to have about this performance. It's legendary. Rik Emmett is/was quite literally light years beyond his peers, and for sure on the stage for the weekend festival. By the time they did this they were a well oiled, well rehearsed and slicky produced trio everybit as potent as say Rush.
Second, I really enjoy watching reaction videos where you can bring knowledge to the table on someone elses prowess talnet needed to do it. Many people wrote bands off in the day and deemed them as having no talent...guys like Dickinson, Halford, Rik, DIO, Freddie, Geoff Tate, etc, prove all of them wrong.
Third...you totally want to sing in Triumph!

Always love your reactions, Bethany. The pure joy you get out of the music is what music should be all about. I love Triumph and was lucky to see them at least twice in the mid 80s. They're the "good guys" of rock and their music always has a positive message. They are truly good guys. As with many bands, there were tensions within the band and Rik Emmet is no longer really a part of the band, but it seems that they still have an amicable relationship with each other. In the rock and roll world, that's a rare thing.

Canada's second power trio (after Rush of course), with a signing drummer! Progressive for sure. Both Triumph and Rush were around at the same time, sadly they didn't stay around as long. But I grew up with all of them, they were the "soundtrack" of my youth for sure. And they were incredible live too! Too bad there's a sync issue with the visuals of Gil (the drummer), at times not quite matching the audio from his kit. It's still a masterpiece. Cheers from 🇨🇦.
