Canon Rebel T3i 600D DSLR Camera: 2024's Best Lenses to Use!

  • The Canon Rebel T3i / 600D DSLR Camera body itself is still quite capable- It’s got an 18MP APS-C sensor, Digic 4 processor, scene intelligent modes, 4FPS continuous shooting, and more features, making is quite relevant still today, in 2024. In this video we go through my top 3 primary lenses for the T3i, they are linked below with the best available price that I could find:
    Canon 10-18MM STM Lens: amzn.to/3vn8pGd
    Canon 50MM STM Lens: amzn.to/41KBiIl
    Canon 55-250MM STM Lens: amzn.to/3TN8f4T
    Canon 18-135MM STM Lens: amzn.to/3TNuuHX
    These lenses are some of the most affordable priced and easily attainable lenses as well, so the value is definitely there. Keep in mind that of course that there are more expensive, more solidly built, more weatherproof lens options but they come at a premium price compared to the three budget winners I’m talking about. And- these are just my personal favorite options. Every photographer has different lens needs depending upon their location and subjects. Maybe the wide angle I’ll discuss in a minute would be your bread and butter shooting, lens, or perhaps… one of the others…
    Also, if you do decide to upgrade to a newer Canon EOS DSLR body in the future, these lenses will also be compatible, so you don’t have to spend hundreds or thousands starting over.
    If you don't have a canon Rebel T3i, these lenses will also work great on the Canon Rebel XT XTi XS XSI T1i T2i T3 T3i T4i T5 T5i T6 T6i T7 T7i T8i and more Canon DSLR Camera Bodies.

    I’m here because I received this camera as a gift, along with two lenses. I’m new to using it and have no idea what I’m doing. The camera was given to me because I want to create video content for beauty shots, focusing on hair and makeup on myself and also on my clients since I’m a cosmetologist. I definitely want to start taking photos of my clients’ hair once I’m done styling it. I’m excited to learn and improve my skills with this camera, so thank you for providing this content

    I bought the t3i when I was 15 and I got the 55-250mm for a Christmas gift when I was 17! I loved it when I went on a trip to France but haven’t used my camera since I was maybe 21. I recently started using my canon for work since I do hair and want to upgrade my lens for my work, and was debating on getting a 50mm Lens. this video was very helpful! Thank u sm🥰

    T3i has been my first and only camera for so long (more than a decade) and I have used it to the max, thousands and thousands of photos, especially when I started my focus on street photography. I still use it till today and it held up in my last trip as well! will finally get a new camera by the end of the year but I have to say thank you for your service!

    I'm still sporting a 20d, a Rebel XTi, and a T1i. I have the 55-250 IS STM and it is closest of all EF-S lenses to deserving a red stripe.😁

    Ha cool. I had every Rebel T camera starting with the XT all the way up to the T8i. Ive shot national magazine layouts with a T3i and the Nifty Fifty back in the day. Probably the biggest one was a layout for Muscle and Fitness magazine with a 2010 Playmate. Good times. I actually still have a T5i I'll probably give away at some point. Ive always liked the Rebel series.

    Which one would you suggest for a lens that would be decent for both indoor/outdoor family photography, maternity, newborn etc. I have the 50 mm and it is amazing for outdoor portraits, but I am struggling with it when I am taking pictures of more people at once, and it is also difficult for indoor since I am limited to how far I can back up for the shot

    • @pricklypearcamera
      @pricklypearcamera  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Gotcha- I would consider the canon 24mm lens as a fixed lens option with good background bokeh, or the canon 18-135mm lens which will give you a more in focus total image and a lot of variability in optical range.

    Hi, do you have any tips on how to avoid/improve the autofocus jumping back and forth during video recording with this camera?

    • @pricklypearcamera
      @pricklypearcamera  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A big part of the jumping back and forth is the depth of field and lighting conditions, does this happen more-so with specific lenses that you have? I've experienced this a bit somewhat too, but if you have a fixed focal distance; you are in front of the camera, you can flip to manual, focus properly, and then you wouldn't have autofocus jumping around. But if you are utilizing a telephoto or zoom lens at range, given the overall amount of potential focus points, it might do this regardless. The Canon T3i does not have continous autofocus like many newer mirrorless or DSLR cameras which would largely solve that issue.

    • @Prismit-m7v
      @Prismit-m7v 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@pricklypearcamera Thank you for your answer. I only have one lens. An old "standard lens" of the Canon 350D, it is the Canon EF-S 18-55m. Manual focusing might be difficult when I'm moving. The lighting conditions are normal and the variation in depth of field resulted no change.
      Maybe I didn't express myself clearly:
      Lets say I aim at an object. then the AF jumps back and forth to find the correct focus on the object. But is never really in focus.

    • @David_Quinn_Photography
      @David_Quinn_Photography 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the T3 uses the same lens mount, what's different is when the T3i was released it was a low mid-range camera, and the Rebel T3 while 2 years newer is a camera that cost $300 when it was new which made it a budget camera, its a lower resolution (12mp) but still takes great photos with enough practice, the Rebel T3 is the 1st DSLR I bought new and I am 75,000 photos into its life and still have fun using it despite having a newer camera as my main.

    Hello I have the T3i & am looking for a Lense to do sweet 16. I am searching for a wide angle lens. I have the cannon 75-300 lense and the 18-135 lense. Do you think the first one you mentioned in this vid would work? Also I had a question about the video you mentioned does the camera take video? How ? Please show me. I don’t have the original it came with just those two lenses. I see a what looks like a video camera with Atenas on the dial but when I try to use it with my lenses it says I can’t use it with zoom ones. Does that mean I need to find a original lenses that goes to this to use the video if that’s the video lol help

    • @pricklypearcamera
      @pricklypearcamera  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, no, the lens shouldn't have anything to do with video capability. You should be able to utilize full zoom functionality with any Canon EF/EFS lens that you pair with it. You can download the full T3i manual on Canon's website and it has quite a few pages about video functionality. I do really like the 10-18mm stm lens for a wide angle option on the T3i. One of my favorites to use!

    I'm looking into photography as my new hobby. Is the T3i a good investment for mid-to-long-term use? The camera is from 10 years ago. Does it shoot in 4k? I'm primarily planning on shooting portraits and Views. I really appreciate any help you can provide.

    • @pricklypearcamera
      @pricklypearcamera  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! No, the T3i doesn't shoot in 4K, and in fact, it's video functionality is so/so, a new Samsung or Iphone likely has better video performance. If you're looking at getting into photography and it's something you want to pursue, you might consider a newer body that does have 4k, like the Canon EOS R50, which uses canon's new RF series of lenses, and does shoot in 4k. I have been using the R50 for nearly a year now and really enjoy using it. It is more expensive for sure than a used T3i body, but will give you far advanced autofocus, 4k, etc.

    Hi there! Thank you for this information. I'm planning to buy the canon RF 35mm f/1.8 or the canon EF 35mm f/2 , for food and product photography. I've been using the 50 mm for long, but since this camera is not full frame, it's complicated to get the shots because I need to back up a lot and don't get much of the frame. Would the 35 mm improve this? And is there any other one you would recommend? Thank you!

    • @pricklypearcamera
      @pricklypearcamera  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the minimum focus distance for the 35mm F2 is around 10 inches or so. Yes, you are right, the 35mm would give you around a 52mm focal equivalent, so you wouldnt' be quite as far away as the 50mm. The 35mm F2 gives quite a bit of bokeh too if that's what you're after. If you are looking for a variable length lens, I would highly recommend the 18-135mm STM for it's versatility, and ability to get in even closer than the 35mm if you need. It's going to give you less bokeh and blur, and more of an in focus image than the 35mm or 50mm.
