I'm glad we have SOME Bryan Johnson. 1) awareness will drive investment 2) he might get lucky & eg regenerate his thymus, then science can take over and figure out exactly how 3) massive props to Bryan!
Brian, Matt, eating whole food and avoid processed food is your recommendation. But the mice experiments give only chow to mice (which is processed not really a whole food). Also when was it decided that this is the optimal diet for mice? the ITP is finding so many anti-diabetes drugs as longevity drugs. I think this is happening because the mice chow diet is diabetogenic. And eating Ad Libitum is also diabetogenic. I think ITP should spend two full years of funding only in finding a healthy optimal wholefood diet and an optimal amount for their mice. Once this control is set (which, of course, will be living longer than the old controls with ad Libitum chow) then ITP would be correctly set to search for longevity drugs, otherwise they will keep only finding drugs that work against the two insults: 1.Ad Libitum and 2. Processed Food diet. What do you think?? ITP is flawed and design to find drugs that fight against these two insults instead of providing real longevity help.
1:15:07 - it doesn't have a wide yet safe dynamic range with 70 mg/dl being the lower limit, let alone being sufficient. HR is certainly a better predictor.
Matt, eat whole food and avoid processed food is your recommendation. Have you seen health/life span differences among dogs eating a whole food diets vs dogs eating primarily kibble?
High ApoB is concerning. It might be a good idea to see if you have arterial plaque or not. A CIMT test is a good way to do that. If you have build-up, then it might be a good idea to address that. It is not a substitute, but you can do an ankle-brachial index test (Stanford has a good guide for how to do this. Dr. Brewer recently covered this, but, don't do it like he did. You need to be flat, and it is better to have a second person do the testing, but an automatic pressure cuff is just fine, as long as it will fit around your ankle.). If that result is concerning, then there is more urgency to be further evaluated. Most of the tests other than CIMT are not going to detect soft plaque, which is the most dangerous. If there is a problem, there are a number of supplements that may stop or even reverse plaque thickness. Statins can reverse is slowly. And there is evidence that Nattokinase can do it faster and perhaps more completely, but it has not been studies as completely. I am not a Doc. So ask a doc. Matt is not that kind of Doc either. Most docs are not into preventing things from afar. If you can afford it, a preventative medicine doc who keeps up with everything might be a good choice.
I liked niclosamide and thought it'd be a good replacement for rapa for mTor suppression. Turns out it causes muscle atrophy. And so i stopped considering it.
Excellent discussion. May I suggest though that the 2 scientists, who seem to be in their late sixties early seventies, up their game to find practical anti-aging supplements, and/or start taking useful supplements themselves momentarily.
@johnjallen We can exercise sleep well, lose weight, not smoke, not drink. With all the substances around, there should be something. Just drinking a cup of coffee, makes you more alert, go figure.
meat is NOT meat. Grass finished has more nutrients, biodynamic grass finished is almost like wild salmon. Nutricion test study data is coming out. Saw a talk on the first out data. Night and day between Krogger (cafo) beef vs best biodynamic grass finished. Biodynamic beef includes frequent moving small groups of animals tightly grazing grass areas for a few hours to a day then move. Miracles happen under ground to grow nutricious grass then meat.
Pea protein should be avoided because it is full of lead. Hemp protein has the same problem. Soy protein is okay, I think. Whey and egg should be fine.
thank you for creating this channel! we need more scientists influencers and less Bryan Johnson
But who will live longer?

Thanks! Been looking forward to part 2
Excellent discussion. Hope Brian will be back soon!

Cold exposure after exercise stunts muscle growth.
Dr. Alan Green prescribed 5mg Cialis when he first prescribed Rapamycin four years ago as part of his longevity protocol.
Hi Matt, I think I am fit and healthy and have some great biomarkers. But I have high ApoB and ldl. Should I be worried?
Just get pcsk 9 inhibitors

Thank you very much for your very detailed and informative reply.@@ChessMasterNate
But sarcopenia? TBD the fine tuning of the macros at lower calores.

ice baths most likely hurt muscle growth

One is 53 and does take some supplements. You talk like aging is solved by some supplements. We’re not even close.

Sorry, don't ask these guys about meat, or diet in general. Not their expertise.
