The screw on the bottom of the bowl is a drain screw. Open it to drain fuel out of that bottom nozzle. The hose that was split is a breather hose. Adjustments are idle (on the needle valve tube) and air screw (side of carb between air filter and needle valve).
Always use a pre oiled air filter for the old slide style carbs these have as the slide and carb body will wear out over time if you don't. Best regards Mike

@RDAllen Figured it out. It's a brand new carb that's why I didn't think it would need a clean right now. Turns out the previous owner had the fuel line from petcock to carb 1/4 inch to a smaller tubing and once I replaced it I just needed to mess with the idle. Oh and it needed some gas 🤣

Removing the mudguards would be more comfortable and the work would be more pleasant since it is easier to identify which screws to unadjust, anyway good work, I needed to watch this video since I have one of 1987, thanks brother 💪👨👍
I have an 87 250trx and my problem was it would putt out slowly, and then die. I rebuilt the carburetor on it, changed the gas filter, and cut off the internal gas tank filter only to learn it was the vapor lock :/ for me on means vapor lock is off and off means the vapor lock is on...
Ok so mine is almost like yours you can tell because inside of it has ultra grimy carbon layer. But tomorrow I’m going to use carb/choke cleaner to clean outside like you ride but with it still on the bike with rags. Next use sea foam maybe carb cleaner too after engine is hot and on. Also use the liquid sea foam in tank. This only works when the carb is working fine.
I need help with my 87 200sx it starts first pull but wont idle so i have to hold the throttle. And if i let it shut off it struggles to start again for a few minutes. Could be running rich but idk
There is an idle adjustment screw if I remember correctly, don’t know if that will help though. Very similar to the problem we had, never did fully figure out the problem.
Could be, how long does it run, only a few seconds or a few minutes. Only few seconds could be the carburetor, probably something else if it runs longer, maybe ignition coil?
RDAllen it is i tried tapping the carb were the floats at its worked so far but now i got too weld the frame its completly broke on one side and almost completely broken on the other side

I have same year model and type of atv as that my carburetor is shooting gas out of the two little holes right under the air intake thing does that mean the float needle is stuck or what? I need help i has problems starting in weather 40 degrees and under is that un usual?
Use proper equipment in the workshop, and that includes your footwear. Even dropping a tool, such as a wrench or pliers, on a bare toe could break it. Flipflops have no place in the workshop!

next tme you clean that carb get yourself a torch hed cleaning file kit take the smallest one through all of the jet passages

Yes, more than likely your float is stuck or is dirty. Sounds like a good rebuild/cleaning of the carburetor will probably fix both problems.
