    Great vid, I followed a similar method and you helped me come up with a solution I wanted for my Forester. Didn't want to mess with hard wiring + sticking a box in my fuse box. Running the cable underneath looks really clean and apart from the small wire exposed near the infotainment, this is a pretty simple and elegant setup.

    Someday a car designer will have an epiphany & suggest putting a port right where we plug in dash cameras. >BINGO!< Right next to the inside rear view mirror. I got a dash camera almost 9 years ago & halfway through running the cable from the top of the windshield to inside the center console between the seats I quit & put it in my junk pile.

    How do you remove the hard plastic housing(?) on the pillar? Idk what tools to do that task :(

    • @phil_hazzy
      @phil_hazzy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are two small covers that need to be pulled off to access the screws behind them that hold the plastic pillar cover in place. They are a bit difficult to remove and I thought it was more trouble than it was worth so I just routed the wire in the gap above and pulled the door sill gasket out and routed it behind that way.

      Are you asking about moving in between vehicles or just leaving it out of the installation? You can carefully pry it off the windshield to install in another vehicle. I've done it. If leaving out of the installation, there are a couple different bases to use so the gps isn't required.

    • @phil_hazzy
