Thanks for watching ^◡^ One of the things I love about snowboarding is the endless variation of circumstances: terrain, snow and weather conditions; visibility and wind; turn size, shape and speed; and desired outcome in any particular day based on how I'm feeling and who I'm riding with. That's an endless list of circumstances! I hope after watching and trying this, that you are better equipped to make those choices for yourself out there in the slopes?
Thank you ^◡^ And yes, loving this board, and so stoked that my custom shape Aloha is now its own model: the Kona. My onesie is made by Korean brand ROMP
Hi Mellen, great explanation!thank you! But how about the timing in down unweighted? Is it just in the moment when edge change? I mean if the down unweighted and edge change happening in the same time? Thank you!
Hi Mellen, could you make a video about riding switch? I mean, how to practise it? And also: is it necessary to have the skill? Thanks for this video. I use mostly up-unweighting, i think. I reserve Down-unweighting for situations where i have to be very quick, like with moguls.
Hey! I remember your heel edge chatter video from 5 years ago and instantly recognized you from the way you teach while riding. I don't think much about my edge change, but I am working on bending the knees / getting low as the first part of my turn, so I must be mostly doing up-unweighted turns. th-cam.com/video/LrzVkubHRv8/w-d-xo.html (My riding from last weekend!)
Wow thank you so much, Ive tried both and I didnt know they even had a name! You described the effect and the differences so well!
This is great! Love the coffee analogy!
thank you ^◡^ everything is better with coffee
I had a hard time understanding the up vs down unweighting turn. This really helped me to understand it in different level !
awesome! I'm so glad it helped ^◡^
Nice!!! So look forward to next one❤
thanks!
Hi Mellen Jay! Love your videos! These are so useful!

@@MellenJay how can i sign up for a lesson with you? We visit big white annually
Nice and clear explanation!! 👍👍😁
thanks K!
hi melen, your explanation is easy to understand, next time let's talk about what circumstance we can use up-unweighting and down-unweighting.
Thanks for watching ^◡^

I always look forward to another Tech Tip. You look to be enjoying your Donek Aloha. What brand is your one-piece suit?

Love this analogy!! Could we use it to understand mid-weighting? Would love to see what mid-weighting is as it seems to take advantage of both

Hi Mellon. Nice video! One question, what is brand of jacket do you wear? It looks cool!
hi,can you explain mid-weighting?
Cool .
What is the brand of your 1 piece suit?
Nice work! Your mic sounds very muffled though. There are no high frequencies in your dialogue? Are you doing any post processing?
audio is definitely my biggest challenge, yes.
@@MellenJaywhat app are you using to edit and what mic are you using? I can show you some stuff via zoom if you want?
Can i combine this with knee steering ?
Yes! Most definitely!
