Great video as always Xavier!!!, Would you ever do a video on splitboarding skins, storing skins when not in use, ways to store when riding etc?. Would be interesting to see what you do
Hi Jake - yes for sure, if people are interested to know then I am really happy to make a video on it - will make a note - thank you, and keep all suggestions coming. Cheers Xv
@Dave Knops hard to say really. Some parts hard but the skiers sprayed the moguls so they're soft when I crash into them lol. It's hard to get my short s turns with my 161 board. Being 5'8 160 lb, I think would do better with a 153-155
Here the snow is like half melted really bad and in between the moguls it is often very much ice . I thought moving over to st Anton was better because of the higher altitude.
Ride mostly moguls - my two thoughts are always "relax" (knees into the turn) and "pop" (out of the turn). The biggest thing I do differently from the video is I keep my back hand (right in my case) low and close to the inside of my right thigh. This keeps my center of gravity low and centered over the board. This also "connects" the upper/lower body and really forces you to rely on your knees and feet. FWIW, my left hand stays low and next to the outside of my left thigh. Hope this is helpful to someone.
Hi, my stance is 59cm and my angles are - I have 3 on the back and 18 on the front. Check out how to set up your snowboard bindings edit - which goes through why I have it like that, and high back angles etc. Hope that helps. Xv
I think the way I ride moguls depends on the board I'm riding. If it's a very damp and stiff board, it can be fun and less tiring on the legs to charge through and skim the top of moguls if the incline is not too steep. A softer more lively board will require more finesse as you've shown.
my arch nemesis: steep moguls. doable on less steep terrain, but the mind panics when confronted with both a steep slope and endless landmines. one day
I hated moguls up until about a month ago. Now I love riding through mogul fields👍. I don't snowboard moguls like it is taught in this video... I don't like committing to the skiier lines... I create my own path OVER moguls.
super conseils !
He Murph, yes it is The Future Light, I have now had my third season riding in the FutureLight range and I really like the fabric, performance wise I think it matches anything I have had before, but it feels a lot more comfortable and lighter - and less noisy!! Cheers Xv
In your opinion does binding/ stance have an impact on your ability to ride moguls? Double black 35-40 degrees on a asymm twin park rocker camber board stance -/+15 ducked out makes this a lot harder? Or do I just suck at snowboarding steep moguls?
My opinion is that such a strong duck stance doesn’t help - but some very good riders manage it and if you are used to that I would stick to it. Moguls are a bit of a b…h anyway haha!!
Whaaat??? Ok I like moguls much more than most snowboarders, can be super fun charging through them and finding cool jump transitions etc.......but as fun as pow? No, just no.
Hee hee - filmed during the first Covid Lockdown - we were lucky and had the right to be on the mountain in Switzerland - but the mogul selection was very limited, not at all where I wanted to film the episode, but the best I could do in the situation - hopefully it still gives you some helpful pointers! Xv
This is the godmother Couloir in the Lyngen Alps - you can check the full mission to ride it in this episode of DIY: th-cam.com/video/9V_tj-D8XaI/w-d-xo.html - planning your next adventure?! Xv
learning to charge bumps changed my life.
0:18 "La traversée héroïque" beautiful place 👌
I love riding bumps, it gives me a kick of adrenaline and intensity, it's tough but once you do it without fail, it's sooo fun!
Yes - gets the blood pumping for sure. Xv
Ive only been riding a couple of years but i love riding through choppy moguls as fast as i can. It made me improve my turns so quickly.
It felt like an escape watching your video! Thanks for not feeding the beast with the ""C" word!
Glad to see some new 'How To's' ! Thanks for the tips XV! You Da Man!
Key points apply to skiing too!
Super cool video! Definitely will it try out this season. Thanks 😊

This is perfect for me!!! Snowboarding in st anton right now. 90% if riders are skiers and they created nothing but moguls here!
I thought oberdorf was bad and moving to st Anton , but it is bad there as well . How is the snow over there?

@Dave Knops right now it's in the 30s some parts are melted, especially closer to the base and that's were I see the harder ice.
Ha- nice hope it helped! Still waiting on that powder snow this winter..
super vidéo! ce sont les arches inter Ferantes a 3:00? LE chouroum olympique?

Hey sounds good, thanks for sharing your tips. Xv
This video really help today with the moguls. It wasn't pretty, but it worked!
Ha- awesome. Glad it helped
Very nice vid. Thank you. Please share your stance and angles :-) Keep safe and great snow moments. from Bulgaria

thank you. Me stance is same, but I am duck footed. Stay healthy. All the best

Love your channel. Could you make a video about carving, please? ✌️🍺

Bon je suis fait a part moi! J adore les pistes noir plein de bosses pourrav moi!
I always get the urge to pump trough them

Are those pants warm enough for cold alpine ski/snowboard days?
I normally ride with a merino base layer underneath, or if it is really cold a pair a fleecy pair of track pants does the trick.
@@XVDLR Thank you for your answer XV ! 🙏🏻
Groomed runs become vary boring and repetitive. Non-Groomed runs with Moguls usually put you on a steeper, more challenging run with far less crowds.
Definitely adds a bit of interest. Xv
Is that North Face jacket a future light? If so, what are your thoughts on it's performance? Thanks!

he slayed those moguls!
Seems like counter rotation is needed when turning on the toe edge with moguls and steeps?
A tiny bit but keep it as mellow as possible! Xv
belle video dommage de ne pas avoir le sous titre dans la langue de Molière BONNE GLISSE
dispo
How does the rossignol XV feel in those moguls ??? :P
Actually great because it is a board which can hold pressure. Xv

Japanese subtitles please🙏
I disagree. Moguls are super fun when you move quickly!!!
Riding moguls are like riding pow. Once you learn to ride them, you never want to ride anything else.
Moguls are super fun if they are not too big
Whaaat??? Ok I like moguls much more than most snowboarders, can be super fun charging through them and finding cool jump transitions etc.......but as fun as pow? No, just no.
@@randyfurlong6181 it is fun to pass a good mogul skier in the bumps. They're like "WTF?..." But heck yeah-POW over bumps any day!
I feel the same! My pals hate me because I always choose super moguly runs
I charge moguls all the time, but they POW is unbeatable in any scale.
Those moguls in the video are tiny.
