The Least Credible Scammer Of 2019 (Also FAQ: How Do I Receive So Many Scam Emails?)

- This is the rather dull tale of a scammer who, whilst clearly trying his best, was not even remotely credible.
Also in this video ( 4:18 ) I will try to answer the question about why I receive so many scam emails.

To give the scammer credit, looks like they've learned a lesson! Now they're going to make sure that everyone knows that they're credible!
I was hoping the scammer would learn how to write a slightly believable scam email from atomic shrimp's format of the award certificate email but alas he did not.
The scammer certainly isn't the sharpest tool in the box.

Same. I found this channel the other day and watched all the scambaiting stuff in under a week. I guess it's the mix of the tone, the humour, and the weird tricks the scammers use that keep it both engaging and relaxing
@Marlinchen Considering on one of his videos, he played an actually very convincing old man, needing to go into heart surgery to stall some scammers, thats even MORE plausible.
I've fallen asleep to it a couple of times at night. It helps!

Before I blocked him, I used to get an obscene amount of spam from my grandfather in the genre of Cute Animals Every Day. They had this scammy internet look to them and my suspicion is that there are websites out there that operate under the pretense of "send adorable otters to your loved ones every day to cheer them up in these trying times!" when in reality, they just sell the emails of the grandparents, the loved ones, and whoever forwards the emails that go out. So... thanks grampa for getting me on fifty republican mailing lists?
Yeah, I think a lot of the 'send this to all of your friends' spam chain letters of the early internet might have been started by people who just wanted to harvest addresses when it eventually found its way back to them

Great content! The scammer's last reply got me thinking:
How about chain-baiting the same guy, could be fun!
* Create some disposable free mail accounts
* Contact a scammer
* Do your thing, except drop in subtle clues - ask about a weird topic, make the same joke, use a certain expression or speech pattern - you'll figure something out.
* After the exchange ends, contact the scammer via different mail and start again
* See how long you can get away with it - maybe get an amusing reaction when the scammer realises he's been trolled by the same guy.

Thanks - I intend to keep on; variety might not be the perfect recipe for instant meteoric success on TH-cam, but I believe it's a more sustainable model for the individual creator (or at least for me). I've seen good content creators focus and narrow down, burn brightly for a while, then burn out.
I'm not so much spreading my bet as just doing what I love doing - success will happen, or not, but I'll be enjoying life!

I checked my spam folder and some 20% of recent emails are obvious scams. My email account is a decade old, so I totally believe you receive so many scam emails. BTW I totally adore your humor, I think you're the funniest scam baiter!

I want to be like you. Not the scam baiting necessarily; I like the mushroom hunting videos too, but it takes balls to engage scammers. They have every incentive to want revenge or to take out petty frustrations on a specific person. Kudos to you for being willing to take that risk. Keep on uploading; not just these scam related videos, but also the ones that show how you're a normal person doing normal things.

I came across a new scam that I never knew about before. Very odd and sneaky yet it makes sense. On LinkedIn, I received a message from someone who claimed that they wanted me to be a speaker at their "Business Management 2019" conference. I immediately knew this was a scam because I'm probably the least qualified person to give a presentation at any sort of conference (though, maybe slightly more qualified than those who fall for this scam). Either way, I looked it up out of curiosity before reporting the account and realized that it's a common scam to invite vulnerable and naive people to these conferences to give a talk with the hope of expanding business by socializing. Maybe these unsuspecting victims make a few friends at these "conferences" but it's almost guaranteed not to be worth the time, money or effort that it costs the victims of these scams.
The first red flag I read about was that these conferences usually have very generic names, which I found pretty funny after reading "Business Management 2019" 😂
