With Love,
Ben & Ashley
The vibe around the two of you has no match. Your happiness is communicative and you just made my cold Montreal day here in Canada start with a big smile. Thank you.
you are really good at fishing; but, your best catch by far is you both connecting with each other. It takes two special individuals like yourselfs to embark on a fantatic adventure like this one. I truly admire you both!!!!!!
Absolutely love watching you two. Much more genuine than some of the other channels.
I luv your Tuna...and I luv how you encourage each other. God Bless.
13:56 Going through a divorce. You guys give hope faith and belief in Love. Wish I could do this with someone. You're making life, together. Keep going, don't stop.
Guys, I actually find myself smiling while watching your channel. Thanks so much for your great channel.
Oh my gosh! The excitement while fishing was so real....what pleasure to share this moment. Thanks!
Just got here and you two are not only educational but a lot of fun. I was smiling during the whole video. You guys are living the dream.👍
Hey Ben and Ash, great video. When the vacuum bagger dies, place fillets in plastic zip lock bog, lower into a bucket of water to expel air and zip when done. Worked for us.
This is an amazing experience.Telling your grandkids about this experience, sailing around the world together. No amount of money can pay it.
i have fished my entire life and i can honestly say that i absolutely love that you guys are not the most knowledgeable(no offense) but that you want to learn and you get into these huge schools of Yellowfin, Wahoo, and Dorado. I will say that you need to pack your reels 90% with a 60 lb braid and then put about 100 yards of 60-100 lb mono for the leader line. You will never get spooled again. I just subscribed to your channel because i love your attitude about life and MY GOD!!!!!! if you are ever around South Florida then my wife and i would pay you thousands of dollars to let us sail with you for like a week or something where i can fish with your husband/boyfriend...? and just be out on the water! I would pay $3,000 easily.
Hey Chris, where in South Florida are you. Ralph@CupRoyale.com
@bob lai Agreed. Plus the Sea Of Cortez is THE PLACE to catch great fish like Dorado or Tuna or Marlin
I caught a 325 lb marlin off of the north cape of Baja in the Sea of Cortez. Took 2 1/2 hours to get it in. Too big to pull it into the boat, so we lashed to the stern to get back in. Amazing fishing!
Fish out of Venice Louisianan Big Yellow fin Big Black fin,.Marlin SailFish Wahoo ,Dorado Snapper Grouper
I so agree they are not the most knowledgeable, i feel dumber for watching it
A Tenant is someone who HOLDS a lease. A Tenet is a belief that you HOLD.
Joe Jablonowski but good job for even trying to use the word!
Good point! It caught my attention too )
Brad Evans No. Bad job for trying to be fancy but don’t know what the word is.
Everything about this video is so cheerful! Educational and fun to watch! I love it.
You and your mom are awesome people.
Thanks for taking the time out and bring this to us who is dreaming of doing that great footage and sound quality.I enjoy it good work.
THE BEST VIDEO I HAVEVEVER SEEN ON A CAT OR HOW TO FISH FOR THE BIG ONES! YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST! YOU ARE HARD TO STOP WATCHING!! I AM SITTING WITH A BIG GRIN, SWEATING AND BREATHING HARD LIKE I AM ON THE GEAR!! AND THEN I AM LAUGHING LOUDLY AT YOUR FUN BANTER! YOU COULD SELL SAILING TO A BLIND, DEAF, MUTE! (NO INTENDED NEGATIVELY! I LOVE YOU IF YOU ARE SO INFLICTED! YOU ARE BY FAR THE BEST ON THE 7 SEAS
you guys are amazing. i really love the down to earth and joyful video
Loved it! I live in central Florida east coast, I gotta sail the Keys before I die. Much respect amigos.
I love seeing how excited you are about catching fish. Did this on my powerboat many years ago. Nothing like it. It’s great when the fish can spool your reel. I call this “real” fishing. Screw the little bass fish. These are real fish battles.
When we caught that first big yellowfin last season my body literally hurt for days. Couldn’t straighten my arms. The battle is real.
I love you guys. You guys are so sweet. A true love story!!
I never get tired of watching these, thanks guys.
I have been binge watching you guys for about a week now! I thought I wanted to Sail the world now I definitely know that’s what I want
Love watching your videos. As for saying goodby, you can say, “fair winds and following seas”. Whatever you say.....keep the videos coming!!
Your sailing and fishing videos are always EPIC! Thanks for sharing a fun fishing on a boat´s class.
You two have great energy... it's bloody infectious... going out to handline fish tadpoles right now!!
Vacuum sealer tip - The vacuum sealer will work better if used at a slow pace. When bagging a lot of fish the sealer needs time to cool in between seals or it will melt the seal and they come apart.
What an awesome video. Thanks for sharing. As an avid fishermen who is on a journey to buy a sailboat and circumnavigate the Globe. Learning new strategies is important. Have fun, be safe and KEEP ON SAILIN ON! cheers RJ
This is insane....unbelievable. You guys are super amazing and so passionate about everything that you do. I don't care what anyone else say, but I admire the way you both face on the challenges these adventures bring. All your videos are very inspiring. I'd love to meet you guys. You guys are awesome. Your videos are super exciting all the time...I love it. Ok...on to the next.
You catch fish! Wowzers! Video production very good too. Lots of fun. Thanks for having us along.
I love everything about this update, in so many ways.! You guys are absolutely adorable. I would love to come sail, and fish with you anytime. I would not even mind at all covering the night shift.
Sorry I don’t mean to lecture you guys but it’s a good idea to keep the rod more horizontal towards the water, cap maybe around 45 degrees when you’re trying to gain line. The reason is that the more vertical you put the rod the more pressure you put on the tip rather than the backbone of the rod and it can easily break it (I’ve seen it happen a few times), especially if you’re dealing with larger fish.
Good word...we are all having fun here gaining experience on the sea and catching dinner, so I for one am glad to learn as much as possible on OPM rather than having to reaplace or repair my own expensive gear. ")
Y’all are so entertaining and are the reason I started sailing
That’s a sick story bro you should post a lot of videos about it
You guys are the funniest teachers of the sea! 😂 Lots of good information to share!
Your fishing challenges...you make us want to quit our jobs and go now...like really right now!
Love it. Go! It’s amazing how stuff just works out.
Fun video! (Flash frame at 12:45) Sailing and catching big fish. Fantastic!
you guys are absolute goof balls but your wisdom is priceless. love ya
Enjoyed the video. For smaller tuna/skipjack a double hook(not two single hooks)helps keep them the hook better.
Good to see the safety line on the reel/rod so it stays aboard :)
TLD50 reel is a great budget choice, two speed is a great help.
If you can anchor/drift in 200-300m an electric reel bottom fishing would produce some great eating fish, free from cigutera, and isn’t so sporting but great grocery shopping.
If you ever come near Nauru let me know and we can bring you out some supplies.
You Guys Rock. Very Good!
Ohhhh my Gosh!! I literally went on TH-cam and entered, How to deep sea fish! And got NOTHING!! With this 1 video, you guys covered everything I needed.
I had the same issue with my vacuum bag machine and come to find out Its was the brand of vacuum bags I was using using. I tried the brand of bags that came with the machine and it worked 100% of the time and the other bags were just hit and miss. In the.philippines we buy the foid bags, just simple plastic bags no zipper and after filleting my wife squeezes out the air and ties a knot at the opening and we keep fresh fish for several months - no problem. You can also freeze them with water (fresh clean) in the bag (no air) and they will keep for maybe years the water prevents freezer burn😀. Take care guys, be safe and have FUN!
Also thaw the fish bags in water in a bowl or sink of water (not on the counter in the air) so they stay fresh tasting😀
Just to let you know you can get larger handles and better drags for the senator. They are easy enough to work on also. They are the most used reels on the long-range tuna fishing trips I have been on. Looks like you are the best fisherpersons (have to be PC these days you know) I have seen on the TH-cam sailing channels.
No PC needed on this channel. Thanks for the tip re handles. Thinking of rail mounting my senator to the boat as two rods is more than we can handle with sails up.
@@SailingNahoa smoothdrag.com if i'm not mistaken. Gear nerds putting carbon drags in all the reels. Often for under 10$. Great video!
Awesome video. You guys kill it on the fishing compared to other cruisers
yes, they do. GBU had no idea how to fish.
LANDOOOHOOOOH! Ben's GREAT BIG CATCHES LANDOOOHOOOOH!!!!
You too are freaking hilarious! This is my fave sailing channel ever. I banged it out and binged watched aback from when you started your channel. And congrats on finding yourselves a stowaway....she's absolutely 💯 beautiful!!!
I race every day to get home. I couldn't wait to see what you 2 are up to next. Just keeping on keepinnng ! You 2 are so dang funny I swear you 🤣 😂 cracking me up!
You two are crazy nuts! I love you! I have caught some sharks that big and a bunch of jacks but never anything good like that!
Great info! I just purchased my first boat (Tartan 37) and am leaving for the Caribbean in a few months. Really looking forward to fishing down there but I am definitely intimidated coming from fishing on lakes!
hi from sunny Portugal . That tuna was huge .. no shortage of food with things that big in the ocean . loads of excitement .
I've said this before , it's nice to watch a sailor that can fish. Thanks for sharing.
Finally finally - sailors that know how to fish - you're rare in TH-cam land. Thank you!!!
By far the most worthwhile program on the internet.
You guys are simply the best... informative, funny, entertaining..... I think if you look up ther definition of soul mates in the dictionary.... you would find a pic of you two. I just love your chemistry... Thanks for sharing your adventures....
I’ve learned so much and in such a cool way this Chanel is awesome
Nice to see a great video on catching large fish, while on Sail. Well done. A good supply of Sushi, Sashimi and Roll material and its chow time!!! Bye the way... great job processing that Tuna.
all the upgrade parts for the penn senator are on Ebal including a big grip handle to replace the one you dont like
Now that's fishing ! We catch striped bass here in Georgia trolling from the back of my pontoon boat. Very similar style of fishing.
I have been following you for a while and was always suspicious that something fishy was going on. This proves it! Great catch, and I'm sure it will be very tasty.
We love y’all videos. Pretty sure you have caught more fish than any other TH-cam sailors.
Hopefully we will see you both I a couple years when we have our big boat completed you guys rock
Nice video. I'm curious about the fishing regulations and licensing requirements for what you're doing. Perhaps another video discussing that? Enjoy!
Love your boat and your video's. That kind of fishing looks so much fun. Merry Christmas you two
Cool video,
Couple of tips
you don’t need a vacuum machine, ziplock bags in a saltwater bucket, gets all the air out!
The Other reels are junk, Shimano TLD are the best, and lightest (adjust your drag at 1/3 of the lines breaking strength),
always “bleed” you fish (especially the Tuna), improves the meat allot.
Try the Mahi Mahi’s roe, first boil in saltwater, then cut in small pieces and pan fry in butter/olive oil.
Keep up with the great videos
We all enjoy your vibes
Capt Bertie (Caribbean)
Hello Jack,
Down here we do Blue Marlin fishing, we stopped using Senators like 30+ years, not used anymore. Their drag system is not consistent. Only good thing about them are robustness & pricing....
Hello Nahoa dudes, I just love your BIG, BIG. BIG, BIG. BIG, BIG. BIG, BIG. BIG, BIG. fishing videos. It has to be so much fun catching a huge Yellow fin Tuna Fish. The lever drag you mentioned is called a Star Drag. My favorite spot when Deep Sea Fishing was always on the aft Starboard corner. I usually got the biggest and most fish, plus the money from that spot. I sure miss my days at sea, seeing big fish jumping around the boat like you filmed, So Cool. I could watch y'all's videos for hours if you ever made one that long, I just love y'all's ambitious and captivating personalities, you make every day a fun day. Stay safe, I love y'all.
Hey Jack! Thanks for your comment. You know that burning log TV show people put on replay if they don't have a real fireplace? I wonder if anyone has ever just done a screaming reel TV show? I could watch that for hours. I might have 30 minutes of continuous screaming reel footage by now...
I have my Shimano's for over 35 years, tough to beat those boys. I too am a serious, meat fisherman. Surprising how many sailors on mono hulls do not fish! We at times fish 5 lines. Boat hooks are all converted to out riggers. One pole is a wire line, get most of our fish on it. Nice work!!
I live onboard and loved that episode. Odd watching someone do the same life?! Great advice you are giving to noobs and funny whilst you do it.
Hi guys found you both on TH-cam recently very enjoyable watching your journeys and adventures... Good sailing... Greetings from the Republic of Ireland
Awesome guys. You didn't mention whether you bleed them out and how to do it. Love your channel. Thanks for sharing.
Another really awesome video from the crew. Loved it.
i would love to come sail with you guys! i’m so serious 😩
Lol! You have the best teaching videos! Very informative and entertaining too.👍🐟Thank you
so much fun and joy... Fresh sashimi is sweet... God bless you and keep you safe guys...
Awesome vid you guys! Celebrating with you!
You two and with latest addition junior sailor on board are awesome. Great videos. The reel handles are called torpedo handles. The bigger they are the better of course for an easier and more comfortable reeling in the line. They can be bought off the shelf or custom machined made. Happy sailing. Fair winds and full sails. Cheers 😃⛵
Looks like you’re having a blast. Enjoy!
What a beautiful idyllic life you both have. To travel across the ocean to different places around the world. My kind of lifestyle thanks for sharing
Love your vids. Love your adventure. Thanks for sharing!
Decent size Ahi. Our Penn 50sw spooled with straight 130 no backing brought one up in 10 to 15 minutes.
You two are killing it awesome got me laughing so hard. The excitement on Ashley's face was infectious every time that reel spun out her eyes would bug out and her smile and chuckle would come alive, i loved this video. So,so good you two. And omg the hand gestures were cracking me up.... okay i gotta relax now that was so funny. FYI-bmushler : I know of what you speak but it was my gut muscles from doubling over with laughter. "It's definitely a good thing".
congrats guys! Love ya and your videos! When I think of you guys I send a prayer your way, in hopes you have a safe journey/voyage wherever you may be going. Lots of love!
I like your comment my numder 0842145215
I went deep sea fishing once in Atlantic Ocean n I agree it’s hard work!
Right on..,and Fish on..,can't wait to see what fish you get next.....
That's a big catch! Awesome.. Love this channel
Super nice video guys. Funny but my first “ yacht” rod and reel was also a pen squall 50 which I loved. 2 marlin later and a sailfish and it was stolen off the back of my boat last December. Now also got a Shimano tld 50 like your Ben. With Braid 120 pound.😊. My best to date was sailing downwind with the asymmetrical spinnaker up and hooking 2 sailfish at one. I had 2 guys on the boat that knew zip about sailing and a little fishing so I gave them each a singing rod. Ran to the front to sock the spinnaker then to the back. One sailfish was then lost and the other I pulled up to the boat and we released him. Good videos guys they get better every time. Ashley keep up the enthusiasm “ it’s inspiring”
Rebuild that Senator. They are actually great reels. You can replace/upgrade the drag washers to address the burn ones. Then upgrade the frame to stop it flexing and the handle for a better grip.
I love tuna, especially fresh! I had offcuts from a commercial boat and it was delicious! Im dreaming of owning a yacht and traveling up for work guiding in fnq, then heading south in the off season to fish my favorite river system!
i like your videos guys esp at a time when you caught a big fish.. grilled tuna is one of the best afternoon treat with beer
Hello there from prince Rupert bc, just up the coast from your home town of Victoria. Just like to say, I stumbled upon your documentary.... of your trip around the world on You Tube and …..this is day 5 of watching your trip videos. And you two people are just the best people funny, happy, and very much a great husband and wife team. And I get this from just watching your videos.....I find your videos awesome, still have more of your videos to go thru and watch, but I am hooked now.... great sailing to you both stay safe and a Merry Christmas to you happy sailors living out your dream
Why would someone give a thumbs down to this video. Two people doing what they love
Loving your videos you two! I'm also from BC and have been running boats for years (sailing monos and cats, and stinkpots too), as well as having worked at a salmon fishing lodge up in Rivers Inlet years ago to hone the skills... Gotta say, you're doing it well, and I love the vibe you guys have - always good for a great laugh! Thanks and keep em coming! Maybe see you out on the high seas someday... Cheers
Some nice fish you catching.
The Penn Senator has what's called a "star drag."
Here in hawaii we also have a problem with ciguatera (si-guh-tear-uh) in our reef fish.
this video reminds me of my trip around Rhodos, we didn't catch any tuna, unfortunately, but the atmosphere was exactly the same. missing it so much and can't wait for the next trip.. so envy. Anyway, guys wish you to get the best wind and the best fish ever.
im from Palau and you've prob left the island. those are awesome fish you've caught! thanks for great video! I own 3 big reels, 14/0 and 16/0 senators and shimano tiagra 80w. they are all great for any big fish. happy sailing and God Bless!!
Excellent video, thanks for showing us your journey. We will be first time boaters soon and we are gulping in every experience that we can to learn about it and certainly your videos promote the life at sea like a really fun lifestyle. Congratulations! Have a wonderful Christmas!! FL
Best fishing video I have seen yet!
Take care guys , love your show,be safe, thank you.
Always enjoy your vids, smiling ear to ear!
Great video guys, what a whopper of a catch! Well done for landing it.
Maybe a follow up vid on your tackle? Weights? Lures? What are they hitting on?
To anyone who is not too experienced with reels, they have a shimano tld 50 2 speed, not a normal shimano tld. The difference is that the two speed has a second gear that gives you more tourqe so you can reel in bigger fish like a big wahoo or marlin.
I really enjoyed your video. I have spent a lot of time out at sea and can absolutely see it.
Great time's and fishing guys
Bloody awesome enjoying your adventures
Ok, this is a good one. I REALLY like this video. My first thought was "another fish video" and actually didn't watch it , but TH-cam put it on when I was busy lol. A lot of good pointers. Riley would keep getting hooked up with Marlin, big ones. He lost a lot of gear doing that. I guess it happens more in certain areas of the pacific, and it was quite a while ago before they had gone to Europe, in the monohul.
Awesome stuff, you seem like very happy people.
Yellowfin is the best I agree
