Y'all should look into the personal alarms that Sailing Zatara showed on their channel a few months ago, but for your children. Zatara makes their kids wear them during night shifts in case they fall overboard. I don't remember for sure, but it was either triggered by contact with water, or by distance from the ship. Either way, it sounds an alarm on the boat and in the parent's sleeping quarters. If you made a belt or chest harness for your kids, which they can't take off themselves, it could save your kids in the event one of them falls overboard when you turn your back (split second).
I love that you guys keep it real. No pretenses, no provocative poses or thumbnails to get likes.. just down to earth storytellers living their best lives.
My sunday isn't cmplete without seeing you. Your children are having the best education ever. Much respect and tons of love. Keep sailing and following your dreams. See you soon.
Ashley, you are absolutley lovely. Don't feel too down on yourself, you are living THE life. We all get older, but you have a great life. It's been wonderful watching y'all throughout the years. P/S, You sounded really Canadian in that end bit :P
You two are quite the sailors. What a fight that Marlin gave you great catches ! You look beautiful Ashley. Thank you for the upload praying your travels are safe.
I must admit I watch a lot of TH-cam videos. And I totally enjoy watching both of you and kids managing and sailing around the world. This world went up side down and you guys sailed right through and came out on top. The strongest most normal channel on TH-cam! Cheers!
Those 2 kids are going to have some fantastic memories when they are older looking back on how mum and dad sailed around the world taking them for a ride too…I know I have…
❤ YES! You are amazing 🎉. No extra crew and having to watch two little ones is a feat in itself in such a small space. I watch from the Canadian prairies, and I'm so proud of you. You bring a wee tear to my eye.😢 lots of love to you all.
Ash, it seems women have a harder time with weight, especially after menopause. Not fair. Thank you for bringing us another wholesome sailing and fishing adventure. Much love! ❤❤❤❤
Imagine what bodie is thinking as he stares out at the sea behind the boat? I hope he remembers allot as rare for any child to live this life or even grownups these days. Great video!!
Good stuff. I started nodding off at the end of long night watches. I was listening to audio books, but 2 - 3 hours in, I'd get the nods. So I started switching to music, and then to dancing in the cockpit. The trick at sea of course is you can't lift your feet off the deck, 'cause when you set it back down, the deck is someplace else. A bit ridiculous? No, very ridiculous. Surprised it actually gave me a modicum of exercise. A guy I sailed with in the Bahamas made the observation that, on a boat, if you didn't do any stretches and back exercises you'd end up with a bad back. So I started doing double leg overs ( On my back , knees all the way to one side, then all the way to the other... Keeping count with my fingers, so I could think about something else.) It's like a minimum amount of exercise and stretching. When it was rough, 42' cat 2 -3 meter seas, no news to you guys, I'd do them in my berth.
Great video. I didn't realize how long of a sail it would be. Yes, I know you told us but when you area actually doing it and we see you sail, and sail and sail for long stretches, it make the distance "real". We love the family portions of your videos. The kids are experiencing and enjoying life. You guys are enjoying your adventure. You all look so much happier when you are exploring. The fishing portions are great too. Loved seeing Ben yell "fish on" so the kids can see it too. Awesome!
So good seeing your guys again today! Congrats on your exercise out there on the boat Ashley, so proud of you! You are super motivated. Great job fishing and cooking up that yummy fish, how cool is that?! Safe travels, you guys are getting those miles behind you, it was fun watching you all enjoying it as you went on, living in the moment.
Sending Best Wishes and lotsa love from Edmonton, Alberta. I was on the edge of my seat for this episode, and almost fell off my chair. That would have been my exercise for the day :). Take Care Nahoa family.
Wow! That Marlin was a fighter. Great 'catch and release' story. So impressed how the whole family manages the long passage. 🤗 Ashley you look fantastic.
I love having your video to watch at the start of the week.. watching sail through the darkness at night with little visibility ohhh my goodness I think I would be to anxious to handle it. The really love the down to earthiness and honesty you give of your experience. Lots of love and hugs
It sometimes feels like it's dangerous and a concern for Willa and Bodhi is real, but actually the kids are very happy. Both Parents trapped on a small boat in a big Ocean and no waiting for Mom or Dad to come home from work, it's perfect! There's food and Dad's always fishing and Mom is in the kitchen turning Dads fish into nummy food and two very happy kids, lucky enough to have crazy Parents always there to hug them. I'm guessing Ben and Ashley got it right. Sail on, into that good night.
Be really wary of double hook rigs, especially with bigger marlin. If you get the "free" hook caught in your hand or even your clothing, you are then attached to a very powerful fish, unlikely to end well. Stick to large strong single hooks, much safer.
Love you guys, thank you for taking me away from my hectic life with some interesting content. Things I will never do, I can do in a sense, by watching.
While watching you hand pull in that fish I was thinking how useful a small chrome cleat or two to use for fishing. Possibly one mounted on the solar arch structure. Another great episode.
Oklahoma grandma here again!! I’ve been watching you all for long time!! I absolutely love your precious family!! Your amazing parents!! I’ve never seen the beautiful blue waters and it’s number one on my bucket list so it’s such a joy watching you kids live your dreams out and around the world!! Wow!! I can’t imagine the beautiful places and people you’ve seen!! Blessings and prayers for you all from Oklahoma ! Keep on keepin on doing what makes your hearts smile!! 💖💖💖💖
I love how you guys make amazing memories with the kids. I'm sure Willa & Bodhi will remember those special moments. Can't wait to see you guys reach the island off Brazil.
I so look forward 2 your videos. Ashley, both U & Ben look great! I love the fishing video, especially when U catch something U can eat. Safe travels ❤
I really do adore you guys. Ashley an Ben, I appreciate how you share the truth of real life on a sailing vessel with 2 cutie patooties an the whole world ahead of you!! I'm evaluating what I have in my life! I'm grateful for the small group of trusted humans I call family, I am grateful for the ppl on youtube who sail an share the rawness that is being a sailing parent , couple, person. I'm grateful for the places I've been from my phone .And its only because you share your lives with us. To me thats huge an I value your choice to share!! Fare winds an following seas !!! ✌🏼💗😊⛵
Wow that was a little marlin and look at the fight. My biggest was 471 lbs, which is big for a male . Females can get as big as 2000 lbs. . My 471 pounder spooled me and the captain tied on another pole and threw the first in the water . The fish almost spooled me again but I finally got it turned around. It took me 45 minutes to reel in both lines and all four of us aboard to get her onboard. I never kept one again after seeing the light in her eyes go out. Then it catch tag and release. What great life you have take care of those two little ones. May the wind be always at back and smooth sailing!
I find I always get so drawn into your story line. You show the real life (good, bad and “awesome” stuff) of the sailing life. I have gone back to watch it all from the beginning. It’s so interesting to see your growth over the years. Great job you two!
Thanks for sharing, I have been in the same situation over the last 6 months workout wise. Full time boat life and traveling it can happen, I started back up 8 days ago and I feel soooo much better!
The fishing is awesome. For long passages my wife and I will do what I call a modified Swedish watch which is a 6, 6, 5, 4, 3 hour watches. I find I get better rest this way - after the second night of course. ;-)
A great episode guys! I've just got Wifi back - 20 days without it due to the local fires; I was lucky. Speaking of luck, I don't think Elon or Warren or Jeff have any more happiness than you do Ben. With a family like the one you have and the joy amazing Ashley brings - you really are one of the luckiest guys on the planet! Stay Safe. Love from The Okanagan.
I watched one of those fish spear another fish. Apparently the spike is very sharp ! Crazy thing was it speared the fish, the fish was bleeding attracting sharks, but it couldn't eat the fish because it couldn't get to it as the fish was stuck ! Crazy underwater footage !
Great editing. Each episode seems to get better! I look forward to your videos each week. You bring us along on the trip as if we are there. Thanks for sharing your adventure and your family. I feel as if I am traveling along with you vicariously!
Wow, that marlin catch and release was amazing to see, good to see you are all doing well, enjoyed Ashleys ramble, good for you doing the work out, thank you for sharing.
Hey Ben, great episode and a real inspiration watching you do it with the kids. With the double hook set on the lures have you tried just running a single. I know its horses for courses but over the years we have caught and released well over 3000 billfish and the hook up rate is no different with one hook or two but the main factor is one hook a hell of a lot safer and easier to manage when releasing or handling the fish. Keep up the great work. You guys have inspired us for our next chapter in our lives, thank you!
I love your content. I'm planing on starting my catamaran build next summer and plan on doing a few laps around the planet myself. Not sure how long I'll be doing it for but probably till I'm physically unable to continue. I hope to hook up with you in an anchorage someday, have a beer and talk about sailing.
You guys are inspirational, you're doing something that some of us will only dream of. It would be nice to know how you trained and/or prepared for this unbelievable journey you are on. Thank you for sharing.
Has anyone tried noise cancelling headphones to help them sleep? Would setting up a hammock to sleep in help at all, at least as the boat moves on one of the axis.
The fish break up the monotony of your shift watches. Catch, cook, eat, repeat! Never gets old. When you get back to Canada or the U.S., order up some salmon (my fav fish). This time til next time... :¬)Webhead USA
Great video. Love watching you guys live at sea. For safety's safe, you should buy a hook release tool. You can pop the hook out from a safer distance. I have the Boom R1, an old style but works great.
Some day these kids are going to have a very clear record of their amazing early childhood... pretty cool
Hell yeah it’s better than daycare

My sunday isn't cmplete without seeing you. Your children are having the best education ever. Much respect and tons of love. Keep sailing and following your dreams. See you soon.
Same here about the Sunday. I know that you’re probably be releasing another video about true life at sea!
Ashley, you are absolutley lovely. Don't feel too down on yourself, you are living THE life. We all get older, but you have a great life. It's been wonderful watching y'all throughout the years.
P/S, You sounded really Canadian in that end bit :P
I love me some Canadians!!!

I absolutely love the clips of the kids playing. Really makes the episodes seem down to earth. And, of course, they are simply adorable! :)
Bodhis such a big boy already!! Beautiful family on a beautiful journey. Sending good vibes from Vegas!

Fans of your travels, following for a few years now, but totally freaking at the children on deck without life vests.

Incredible fishing 🎣 for a sailing channel. You guys are super sailors!
While watching you hand pull in that fish I was thinking how useful a small chrome cleat or two to use for fishing. Possibly one mounted on the solar arch structure. Another great episode.
You two are amazing parents but it scares me to see the children standing up by the netting without life jackets on.🤗
You are both so amazing and your children are truly blessed. Stay safe 🥰⛵️⛵️⛵️

Good catch fishing; the name of the golden fish is Dorados in the Philippines, and the meat is so delicious.
