I’ve watched and followed just about every sailing channel and as a fellow Canadian have a special affinity for both of you! What you share with us is awesome! That said, I cannot get over how many more fish and large fish you guys land. So, hats off to you and thanks for sharing these bits with us. I really look forward to the rest of the videos and hope so much that when we set off, we get to meet you out there. Thanks so much! Sk in the UK.
Ben, thanks for the tutorial, I can't think of a better one from a sailing channel and I date back to the beginning of the genre. Y'all are just awesome!
Hi guys. My Canadian cousin took me salmon fishing in lake Ontario 3 years ago. What an exciting day! We caught plenty, big and tasty ones. Thank You for your advice and most of all, for your cheerful vibes. I will put your teachings into practice in the summer.
Im Hawaii we troll between 6 and 10 knots, sometimes even a lil faster, Here we connect the lure to the bird, it helps keep the bird in the water..We will run them as Far back as 50 yards or even more behind the boat..
I'm a mainlander...and I think Ben and Ashley have had many drinks before this video !! Haha but we appreciate the fishing instruction . Where are you now ? Still in Paradise? Keep up the great videos .
Okay the first thing I'd like to say is this channel is awesome. I just have a question for you. I have noticed that sometimes when you catch fish you pour something down the mouth and I'm wondering what it is and why you do that. I hope this channel never ends keep up the really really good work on this channel. By the way I live in Kelowna BC
You should try a trolling lead in rigged 10 to 20 ft in front of your lures when you’re speed is up. Wahoo can’t resist a faster lure. Most Pelagics can swim over 30 mph. Awesome videos!
Omg you guys are so intoxicating , it is so hard to stop watching your videos I love how happy you guys are. You have open my eyes to new possibilities new adventures in life specially because I was born in an island in the Caribbean ( CUBA) and I miss so much the beautiful blue Ocean I am so pumped hopefully one day I can have my boat B size you guys. keep doing what you doing it is fantastic it is inspiring you guys have a beautiful spirit love it. Merry Christmas
Nice advice - I watch my share of sailing/cruising videos and it seems few of them know how to properly troll lures and/or have undersized equipment. Can't go wrong with cedar plugs and daisy chains - every cruiser should have em. Don't forget those mahi will follow one another to the surface. Get the first one close to the boat (when there aren't sharks) and keep big metal on hand for the followers. tight lines and fair seas.
I love y’all videos you two are a awesome couple I’m planning on buying a catamaran in like maybe 10 years from today and escaping this crazy city life selling my company and vehicles and GONE to paradise and hopefully someday meeting you two hopefully I’m so excited and can’t wait just waiting on my kids to get into college and independent before I leave out but anyways I just wanted to say how much I love watching the videos y’all post and again can’t wait to get out there.
That's amazing! I'm following you from Ireland. Love your channel. Just for knowledge. Whenever you catch an adult Mahi it should always be followed by a second one as they normally swim with their partner. So one male and one female. :)
Noooo, they swim in large packs, considering you come from Ireland I dont think you can talk. I spearfish in 200 meters about 15 nautical miles off shore and all you do is wait and then they come in their schools.
Holy shark fins! You two are hilarious 😂. Talk about personality. Ok, this doesn't usually happen when I watch video's from the dozen or so sailing channels I'm subscribed to. I was so captivated with this clip that it felt like I was there, on your boat. Gawd I could have very well been the person behind the camera. Good job guys. Great content and very well put together. Love it! AWESOME! 👍👌👏
Amazing update.! Thank you so much, for sharing this day. As always be safe, and look we look forward to hearing from you as soon as able. Thank you again...!
I love those red headed lures. We call them Qantas lures, you know, after the Australian airline. Had a huuuuuge GT climb all over it recently. Also lured up a 40 kg Spanish Mackeral.
Your hand lining technique is excellent and would make for a good episode. It’s the same I learned jigging for codfish in New England. Hand position. Not getting feet tangled in line (oops big fish grabbed my fish and me because I was tangled). Also an explanation of the use and how to rig the surgical tubing.
Hello guys this is another great video, every time I see a video I go deep in to it I feel like im there and when the video is over I go back to real life. Love you guys. From Lakeland FL
Damn, that's brutal. Imagine swimming in the ocean one day and you see this funny looking delicious fish racing past you, it's lunch time eh. So you sprint after it and sprint and sprint and finally get to bite - fucking hook in your mouth. *insert oh shit gif here* The weird hairless apes pull you in but you're fighting! And the next thing you know, a fucking shark is biting off your tail, too! *double whammy* Your day went from amazing to absolute shit to nuclear fallout within 2 minutes. But the shark eating your catch is so 'The Old Man and the Sea'
Love your Videos! You need to get a TV deal! I've caught a few with a hook shoved thru a Champaign cork with sliced up tied on Christmas Ribbons! Tuna, Mahi and a Marlin took if for good!
You guys rock, and have one of the best channels on TH-cam ! Thank for the tips. You said you take the teasers out of the water over 6 knots. So over 6 knots you just use the lures? So the best thing to do would be to put the teasers on the hand line and the lure on the rod? Your thoughts?
I think you guys should get into simple bait making with wood or even molding and molding would be quite fine to do on a boat because all you need is a mold and some plastics(soft or hard) and the hooks and your set so maybe think about it just to pass some time
Love the videos guys. Keep them coming. We start our adventure in 4 weeks from the same spot you started yours. Looking forward to pushing off from Grenada Marine to follow in your footsteps.
That was VERY IMPRESSIVE!! That had to be a lot of work to film and land the fish! I’ve only had that happen once and it was nothing like thaaaat. Thanks!! I just subscribed!
Excellent video. . A good beer in my humble opinion is very important also. . I'm thinking you must have a large freezer or be close to shore . . On my trip from Newport RI To Sint Maarten we filled the freezer and had to put away our fishing lines . .
Great video guys! Mahi mostly travel in pairs and if you hook one you sometimes get its mate as well, always worth putting another line out for it. Great channel great content!
not totally sure about that Woody, I've only ever seen Mahi in schools and if you hook the bull/male and trail it behind the boat often the whole school will often follow it, least ways, thats been my experience. Awesome video tho and sound advice.
Watching Girls, bikinis and beers blue water sailing, then y'all popped up. Subbed and liked. Really enjoying the "how to-z" of fishing from a sailing perspective. Learning so much from y'all, thanx so much. Hoping to soon be out on there and have our first Sushi on deck. Really enjoying the education.
I knew you had some kind of crazy good trick for fishing...unreal..! Never seen about this teasers..but just some girls ...back in the time...:) ( did not work on me though)...great video as usual gracias !!
Wow, that bull is a trophy Mahi.....if you had the other half....lol! Countless offshore fishing trips off the NC coast and I've never pulled in one like that!
Do the fish like the hard teasers or the soft ones? Just curious if sound has ANYTHING to do with it and no I don't fish now... this question might make that VERY obvious
When I worked offshore the hands would come get white rubbery plastic nipples off the big 5 gallon milk containers and splay the ends with a knife to make lures for dolphin (mahi mahi) fish.
Should you not be using a safety harness sailing even in calm weather --what would happen if one of you slipped in --how long would it take to turn around ?
@@Hawks1980 I have sailed a lot ,in all weather, some of the stuff that happened on this boat when they started out was crazy . They have tightened up a little since then .
Awesome thanks for the fishing tips.. How heavy a line do you use on your fishing poles. .. There are some cool videos of mahi and frigate birds chasing flying fish simultaneously even while the fish is gliding through the air... just google " flying fish hunt"

Ashleys voice when the shark ate half her fish was priceless! Full of excitement and emotion!
These how to fishing videos are awesome! Thanks for adding the products as well. Helps us beginners out!
You two are always having waaay to much fun. Please don't stop sharing it!
You guys are definitely my favourite sailing channel..
Ben, thanks for the tutorial, I can't think of a better one from a sailing channel and I date back to the beginning of the genre. Y'all are just awesome!
Thank you. I really really appreciate that.
Fishing is me and my wife’s passion. It’s awesome to see you two enjoy it together.

Hubcaps! That would be so perfect to have onboard. "Why do you have hubcaps here?", "They're for the wheels on the boat, duh!" :D
I can have the most crappy day ever, but watching your channel cheers me right up!
Awesome Channel Awesome content keep up the EPIC adventure!!
that's the best video on fishing from a cat I,ve seen anywhere , love it you guys

What did you spray in the mouth and gills when you first pulled in the mahi?
I love your channel! I’m about to cross the Atlantic and I’ve learned so much from you guys!
Hello! Great video! What is the liquid you put inside the fish at 10:25 ?
That's amazing! I'm following you from Ireland. Love your channel.

Yo!
How well do the two of you get along while being at sea for extended periods of time?
When I worked offshore the hands would come get white rubbery plastic nipples off the big 5 gallon milk containers and splay the ends with a knife to make lures for dolphin (mahi mahi) fish.
Never lose your enthusiasm!
I can't wait to try this cuz it sounds like the real deal and I've watched you guys catching huge fish so I can't wait to try it myself Vegas Phil
What pound test line do you prefer to fish with?
more more more more , great ep guys thumbs up
Love your vlogs. Makes me wanna travel even more .....
Great adventure, thank you for sharing.
That’s action right there
Cool footage, did you cut the shark bite off and keep it or throw it back?
You rule as sailors and fisher folk.
What's did you put down it's mouth and gills?
"Pink lures are awesome" she said...yes, women utilize their pink lures to great effect, master's of the pink lure, working the rod.
Should you not be using a safety harness sailing even in calm weather --what would happen if one of you slipped in --how long would it take to turn around ?
Hope your armchair is comfy
