    I caught Lush headlining (with Weezer opening) in the Summer of ‘94 at a tiny club (Fastlanes II) in Asbury Park, Nj. Lush was everything I hoped for. Way better than seeing them at Lalapalooza in ‘92. Loved that! A spectacular night of herb smoke in the air to go along with their heavy use of dub and effects. Great band.

      Not to be jaundiced, but you have to have musicians creating music that anyone cares about to have a music television network. We're not living in the 90's anymore.

    • @TheOtherKine
      @TheOtherKine 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jimmyjakes1823 That's not how it works. The reason why it's no longer like that is because the music industry labels made it so after the 90s, when they saw what could happen with the INTERNET, due to the Napster fiasco, but also at the same time, copyrights and royalty payment calculations had to be transformed due to things like TH-cam and how to go about getting money to the musicians for the music being played on the net, as well from downloads. But the music industry did start to create labels and extra genres for music to purposefully REMOVE them from the mainstream charts to only use the mainstream chart for the music and bands they wanted to sell. Music of ALL KINDS are still being created all the time, look around - the only difference now is, that music is NOT COUNTED towards the mainstream Billboard Hot 100 or whatever BS they deem righteous

    This is from late in the band's career. I am not a fan of 1996's "Lovelife" at all, but "Gala" (or the "Scar" LP in the U.K.) and "Spooky" are real classic albums. "Split" is also fine in parts, but just not quite on the same level as the first two. Lush was best when it was in full dreampop/shoegaze mode and had the same producer as the Cocteau Twins. By 1996, their sound had changed drastically, and it's not to my taste.

    • @ΣεραφείμΑποστολάκος
      @ΣεραφείμΑποστολάκος 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's different but very sweet in it's own way. Their Blind Spot ep was an ideal marriage of all their previous works and it saddens me that this glorious talented duo ended its course..

    • @julianhermanubis6800
      @julianhermanubis6800 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@ΣεραφείμΑποστολάκος From what I've read, it seems as if Emma Anderson wasn't that happy with the "Lovelife" sound and wanted to do something more like what they'd been doing previously. Then, tragedy struck and nothing else happened with their next planned LP. You're right: it's a matter of taste. But, "Lovelife" is so unlike their earlier music that I just can't get into it. And I actually really hate songs like "Ladykillers" and "Shake Baby Shake."

    • @ΣεραφείμΑποστολάκος
      @ΣεραφείμΑποστολάκος 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@julianhermanubis6800 Ha ha, I see your point mate for 'Ladykillers', but we should not omit pop jewels like "I've been here before". On the other hand, you could find sparkles of the old flame in tunes like Tralala, Papasan and Olympia.
      As for 500, well, every great band has its soft side, I would say that it's the equivalent of Pixies 'La la love you" from Doolittle.
      Cheers!

    Emma was a classically-understated very English beauty. It's hard to even notice her next to Miki's flame red hair. She disappears into the background - or off to the side onstage, which was a choice but a pity. Emma always hid behind her charismatic lead singer, which I think was a great mistake. Lush would have been stronger and more interesting if she'd shared lead vocal duties. They were great friends for a very long time so it's sad to see how that ended up in the toilet.

      @@yaddahaysmarmalite4059 I agree, but that would mean Emma doing more vocal duties, and she just never wanted it, either in Lush or Sing-Sing. Baffling, to be honest. Is her voice really that much worse than Miki's? Not at all. If they swapped roles in Lush, I don't think anybody would have been upset, and I think a great many would have quite liked that, including me. I used to email her and she always seemed very dismissive and bashful about her voice but even Jimi Hendris, who had quite an emotional and tender voice, hated to hear himself sing.
