This Man here everyone has made previous video's on the best CDI budget buy for your main Japanese bike's problems. You just won't have a rev limiter from what I understand but you know when you should switch gears. Great video's. Thank you sir and I hope other people are thankful as well.
Make your cdi happy! I love that saying...most don't understand that lol. I just did the pit bike harness on my 86 flat trac 3 wheeler. Makes life a breeze. Thanks again for these videos
Hey Dillon!!! I'm glad that U understood what I was talking about and that U got the pit bike ignition working for Ur flat track ATC... I always like hearing about success stories!!! Thanks for the info, encouragement, watching, and commenting!!!!
I have a 1994 Honda Fourtrax 300. My headlights and taillights wouldn't work and the fuses in the battery box were good. I finally cut the wires to the headlight and traced them back to the switch box on the handlebar. I got the light to light up due to an internal light switch being off kilter. However, when I went to touch the two naked wires to the headlight bulb to check for a connection, it sparked and ALL LIGHTS went off and now the key switch won't even light up and it won't start or light up anywhere. I checked the fuses in the battery box, but they aren't blown. Have I blown a fuse or relay somewhere else, or have I shorted out the ignition switch or control box on the handlebar?? Any help from any reader would help emensly. Thank you.
I’m not sure if you still reply just bc the vid is old but I was wondering I have a yellow wire with a solid green stripe cut off and then another wire that’s cut off that a green with a purple stripe that’s cut going to my solenoid do I touch them together or leave them alone
OK on my 300 ex I took out the stator and replaced it with a stator from a Yamaha the 125 which has a CDI trigger wire and a Ac CDI power wire and a ground and it works great with the exception of not having a charge circuit now I'm wanting to go back to factory stator for charge circuit I know the three yellow wires is the rectifier wires in Delta configure I know the blue is CDI trigger and green is ground but there is a single yellow I don't know .am I right in assuming that it is power for Ac cdi
Just got my 300 back after 8 years stilen. All electrical is now fried since they ran a kill switch and not an ignition. Would love a video on Completely restoring the entire electric harness and where to find the harness...
Hey, I just got a 300ex for only $150, but it looks like the wiring harness for the most part melted, but the cdi boxes dont look too bad. The weird part is he give a 250ex harness. so im not 100% sure to do at the moment...
Hey bud can you tell me the year and make and model of the bike you point at about the key being lost or broken I just picked one up with the same plastics on it and trying toget info on what I have thank you
Hey harvey i just got a new harness for my 1998 trx300ex and also a new clutch case. The clutch case wasnt the right one the nuetral and reverse plugs didnt match but i put the new harness (harness is only the killswitch and lights and all) and everything seems right but i dont have spark anymore but i blew a fuse somehow and with a blown fuse i now have spark but it wont run like the cdi doesnt have power witch it has a blown fuse so idk im just lost can you help me out...maybe make a short video about how to delete all the interlocks on a 300ex
i got the 6 plastic cdi plug... the 2 wires on left bottom been shown in dif videos diferent.. most say both ground.. 1 say middle 1 is cut- off emergency swsitch= is what i need.. idk
Hi. I have e a tgb target 503cc engine and is limited by cdi to 6800 rpm and i would like to.remove the rev limiter. Please let me know if you have any ideea how to remove that.cheers
Yeah they go to the lights but not before they go to the other CDI box as well and there's a safety on the clutch when you pull the clutch so that the starter will engage
That wasn't a 300ex u was explaining the harness on. It was a Chinese 110cc. Also Hondas rectifier has 3 yellow wires coming out of the case. If I don't have the clip on either the rectifier or the harness coming out the case how do I know which yellow goes to which.
Does that cdi have rev limiter or is it higher rev in forward I’m trying to find one that will work on my 1997 Honda 300ex without spending tons of money I’m very short on money and just want a cdi that has a higher rev or no limits thanks mostly want want one with higher rev then oem Honda
Thinking I've got a parasitic draw somewhere. Guy said the battery was good he tested it. But my relay or starter solenoid maybe even the rectifier will click and the it will roll over sometimes. But lose battery power fast or it might start right up but I ride around for a bit and it will cut out and act like it's being starved for fuel. New carb on the way with relay and new oil and drain plug with new washer
Hey harvey new to your videos... All seems very help full, I have a 05 kawasaki kfx 400 and I cant get spark but I'm wanting to trouble shoot the system to see if its the coil or voltage regulator or Cdi and you may have a vedio that tells me how to or what steps and how I find what the ohms should be before I replace the whole system.. Can you help me with that a link or advice please thank you..
I have a messed up wire harness like yours on video but I don’t have key switch or start button switch I have everything else I watched video but I can’t figure out how to make it work.. I have a key switch I can wire into it and a start switch that go to starter if you can tell me how to do it.. please
That was an amazing video. I'm searching around looking for the answer why I am not getting spark on my 2004 300EX? Curious if I could get a little assistance on this?
Hey Joseph, My Honda 300EX has 2 CDI units, one runs on AC and is RPM limited, it is only used for reverse.... The second CDI is powered with 12VDC, it is only used to go forward... With the wire harness I am building for my 300EX, I plan on using a 12VDC GY6 CDI with the matching spark coil, for everything, both forward and reverse, I will get the 12DC from the battery, with trigger the CDI with the Blue/white wire from the engine, then one just has to hook up ground to the engine and negative terminal of the battery, the CDI out put to the spark coil, at this point, the engine should run and U can integrate the OEM wire harness in to get the on/off switches to work.... I hope this helps.... Thanks for asking, watching, and commenting!!!
hey harvey, i have an 02 300ex and it has a good soleniod. when i hit the start button it clicks but will not turn over. even with battery on jump box. do you know whats wrong
I can't get my 300ex to spark at all, it will only spark as I move the thumb kill switch back and forth. If you know anything that would help me I would gravely appreciate it. Thankful sir
Hey Nickolas, The ignition system for the 300ex is very complicated.... It uses 2 CDIs and internal engine switches to decide which one should be active.... To start, the bigger CDI needs to get 12VDC, (Ur battery needs to be installed and Ur fuse must be good),. The CDI needs to sense that the engine is not in reverse.... For me, if I get a 300ex that has a normal and intact wire harness, I would change the spark plug to start with, check all the connections to the ignition coil, and all the other connections and fuse.... bypassing the 2 oem CDI's is only a 4 wire, $25 hack, if U wish, I can show U how to do that.... Thanks for asking, watching, and commenting!!!
Your videos have helped me a lot. Keep up the good work. I have a 2007 trx300ex with schematic from stator and still don't understand the yellow wire with white stripe. It is paralleled with one of the 3 phase yellows? AC for?
Hi Harvey I Need Your Help I Replaced The Starter On My Chinese ATV And It Started Up Perfectly But It Was To Accelerated So I Turned It Off. Went Back The Next Morning To Work On It And It Did Not Want To Start Any More. What Do You Think It Can Be. Please Help!!!
Hey Martin, U indicated that Ur ATV would not start, I'm assuming it would still crank properly... My thoughts are that Ur carb needs a cleaning, for some reason, Ur throttle froze up, for the same reasons, Ur float maybe hung up such that it is flooding, or not allowing gas into the carb... I would start with the carb for the throttle, then check the float and jets... Then check spark, replace the plug and check spark again if that is the issue, (China spark plugs are not the best), I hope this helps, let me know how it all turns out, thanks for asking, watching, and commenting!!!
you used to be able to buy repair kits for the switches and buttons for Honda's....and on those casoli ignition boxes you can buy the Honda plug adaptors
great video Harvey ,I have a question that's sort of off topic do You think a stator a rectifier regulator in a GY 6 would support a full size automotive battery ?
Hey Delmer, If U started out with a good automotive battery that was fully charged, the stator and regulator would keep it charged, assuming that one was only running the load a normal GY6 powered bike or ATV runs, no crazy lights, inverters, or 12V power tools.... If the battery is run down by cranking the engine over, the lights left on, or normal discharge, charging the battery up would be too much for the GY6 components and they may get cooked.... I hope this helps, thanks for asking, watching, and commenting!!!
Hey Harvey I just bought an entire wire harness that brings absolutely everything for the quad 110cc Panther HD2 Chinese atv, anyway I installed everything and hook up carb and I get nothing,no click, nothing, but it has power from a new battery, any thoughs or suggestions?
Hey Plum Bob, I do get stumped from time to time, but I do figure my way out of most things after a while, may take days or a week,.... Thanks for your encouragement, watching, and commenting!!!
Those two square plugs you were not sure about go to the switch on the front brake lever and i thought the four plug bundle found down by the battery were for powering a taillight. Thats what my meter says when I operate ignition and brake levers. I came here hoping to confirm that. Does that make sense? Im trying to install a tail light to be legal. Great video btw, thanks
Hey TripleSiz223, I would believe my meter over what anyone tells me, what U say makes sense, I would go with it... Ur state allows U to street legal a Honda 300EX???? Thanks for asking, watching, and commenting!!!
No on the street legal but require a taillight for the trail. I cant get a straight answer on the brake light having to work or not but you always get that question answered when a warden stops you lol. So i want to hook it up to work just for the heck of it. Thanks for the response and I will be looking for more trx vids!
Hey Triple6!!!! If one is going to ride with others, a brake light is not a bad idea, a bright red light may save one from that rear end accident!!! Thanks for the info, Ur thoughts, watching, and commenting!!!
Hey Joe, Thanks for the info and for answering Michael's questions!!!! I'm glad that the portable CDI box worked for U!!!! Thanks also for watching and commenting!!!
Dam , i feel ripped off Now, just bought just a CDI from VMC + Sh for 24.99, this kit you mentioned includes spark plug and coil, dam just should watch another video before i got order happy. 12.87 /17.57
very interesting i come from age, of pints & condensers so your video pointed me in the right direction when I got the ATV I have I was told it was a runner. but when i got it home I founded it to be a night mere of chop jobs or what you call hack jobs , Si I decided to start at the fly wheal to find our what sot of power coil it had, ! & well what I found was a reel eye opener & realised why they had started hacking the wearing, the fly wheel was completely sheared off the crank & he was right it had run the last time he used it , but clearly not since as he had no timing LOL Les England so it a rebuild. I know he said it was a 50cc you don't happen to know the cubit copasetic stamp on the cylinder boar do you of a 50cc 125 is 104 I think let me know if you know pleas, Les England as I have no paper work with this buy , the sail was a spar or reaper , this time it a reaper, I would as have you one But, as your so far away The sipping would be to much. possibly I don't honestly know .
Black wire is the flame out wire keeps it from starting if the kill switch is off no you'd be surprised that on your black and white wire on that EX is actually your power wire I know this because I have the manual and that black and white wire hooks to the ignition and to the on off switch as battery two battery one is the wire coming from the battery to the ignition and then from the ignition goes back to the harness as black and white and to the handlebars I don't know why that's just the way it is according to the schematic and the yellow and white wire on the CDI goes to stater positive side
Hey Shane, Safety videos, LOL!!!! There will be a video going up this week of gasoline on a hot muffler.....LOL!!! Thanks for the info, watching, and commenting!!!
Michael Thomas this video you posted 3 commentstrying to prove Harvey wrong on something or make him look bad. But apparently you're watching the whole videos. So stop with the negativity and learn something. 🤔😬🤐🖕👂
Nice lessons to me but l need to know gy6 cdi 6 pin have 1 wire from the battery power pls show me very slowly according their colour because I don't understand good English
Hey Graham!!! My original portable cdi box uses the 12VDC gy6 cdi....The 4 wire version that I used in my second box works better for me, I think the advance is not as much, less kick back for sure.... Thanks for the info, watching, and commenting Bud!!!
I have no doubt that you know what you are talking about but those coils are straight up junk. They are better than nothing but should only be used for a temporary until unless you like walking
I have a 94’ trx300ex fourtrax without a harness at all. I have stator wires and starter. But no cdi’s or anything. Can someone please tell me how or what to do to set it up to run the most simple way ever. I will pay😅 please help.
better go look at you wiring diagram again there buddy those two green wires that you were referring to but you don't know where they go go to the clutch switch when you're holding the clutch so that the bike will only turn over when you have a hold of the clutch lever
Your cdi grey wire is going to power, to what? the fuel tank or do you mean the tires?? And not a million ground wire connections as you say. If you are connecting a million ground wire connections, you are wasting time and clueless. Headlight, tail light, four signal lights, horn, voltage regulator or rectifier, spark coil, power coil, pulse coil, ignition key ground. You only need one ground to engine, then you tie in all ground to junction from engine. It’s thAt simple. Not wading tine counting but only about ten ground connections. I leave the starter and battery ground out as some engines use a kick start. A kick start works same as starter except you Normally crank engine by rotating crank shaft with a lever for your foot which spins engine over. Understand?
Facebook first message you act like your rationale we just talk and talk and talk you could be showing people how to do shit pretty annoying because you think you know what you're doing anyone can run those bikes off of those CDI do they run correctly not always you're running a 300 engine on a 200 CDI unit time is not the same they will not run exactly proper or rev up to the proper rev limiter because they're different
This Man here everyone has made previous video's on the best CDI budget buy for your main Japanese bike's problems. You just won't have a rev limiter from what I understand but you know when you should switch gears. Great video's. Thank you sir and I hope other people are thankful as well.
Will this work on a klx650
Thanks Harvey, you gave me the confidence to roll my sleeves up and think that I could do it.
You did a great job of explaining this situation. Had an similar issue with my 1994 Trx30ex. Thanks for your help.
Good video, so many get scared of wiring when it really is very simple. You did a great job of showing how simple it really is.
Another excellent and informative video. You should start charging for these, you'd be worth a fortune. Thanks for sharing Harvey
Make your cdi happy! I love that saying...most don't understand that lol. I just did the pit bike harness on my 86 flat trac 3 wheeler. Makes life a breeze. Thanks again for these videos

You are awesome! You saved the day! My buggy runs again!
My atv only has the second cdi that you showed with the little wire for reverse idk waht to do
What did you do with the wires that went to the reverse inhibitor unit? Do you just cut them out?
What cdi would u use for a 2 cylinder 125 dc cdi

Would this work for me on a klx650 or is this for only small bikes
i have a hi-bird it has 4 wires off the motor-- white, green, yellow w blue stripe and yellow what cdi do i need to buy and how do i wire it
Thanks Harvey, you make the dark art of the CDI box and associated trickery much easier to understand
Yeah they go to the lights but not before they go to the other CDI box as well and there's a safety on the clutch when you pull the clutch so that the starter will engage

So the regulator is not necessary?
Rectifier?
The two wires with the rubber ends on them goes to the hand brake for the brake light I think

Hey Graham!!! My original portable cdi box uses the 12VDC gy6 cdi....The 4 wire version that I used in my second box works better for me, I think the advance is not as much, less kick back for sure.... Thanks for the info, watching, and commenting Bud!!!
Good video
greenwires are for the clutch
A GY6 is a gocart engine so it's a gocart CDI
Harvey my china quad 110cc has constantly sparking is the cdi bad or what. by the way i like ur videos
Mine is a 01 Honda 300ex same set up
Great video. Thanks I will try. Hopefully I don't burn this one. Lol.
I have no doubt that you know what you are talking about but those coils are straight up junk. They are better than nothing but should only be used for a temporary until unless you like walking
I need more help with my bike
I have a 94’ trx300ex fourtrax without a harness at all. I have stator wires and starter. But no cdi’s or anything. Can someone please tell me how or what to do to set it up to run the most simple way ever. I will pay😅 please help.
Hey Phobic Watch, Where R U located? Thanks for asking, watching, and commenting!
I’m in ohio.
Harvey Spooner is there any form of contacting you other than constantly commenting on your videos;which are really great btw.
better go look at you wiring diagram again there buddy those two green wires that you were referring to but you don't know where they go go to the clutch switch when you're holding the clutch so that the bike will only turn over when you have a hold of the clutch lever
You're killing me........22 minutes......

that's not a honda trx300ex .. looks like maybe a chinese 4 wheeler 50 or 70 cc ..
At 50 seconds into video
I can pay for services
just a comment
Your video and be so long if you didn't talk so bloody much
Harvey can I contact you for support on a project please
