This video is about how to get started milking a cow the first three days after the birth! There are some things that you need to know if you’re going to have your own milk cow!
Watching that little lad feed the calf made my day start with a big smile. People don't understand a field shed is not only unnecessary but will become a collecting area for manure instead of dispersing it over the pasture and ultimately a breeding ground for disease and parasites.
Two cute babies!! One giving the milk bottle and one drinking from the milk bottle!! Black kitty was wanting some milk!! I enjoyed that so much friend!! Thank you!!
Every boy should grow up spending time out in the barn feeding and carrying for animals, one of my favorite memories growing up, something about doing it when it was cold , still remember the smell of the hay and the barn. Great video!!! Thanks Brother!!!
Another precious moment in time with Joel and Caleb bottle feeding this tiny calf. It doesn't get any better then this wonderful vlog. God bless you all
Good morning Micah ! Caleb's (?) Is doing a great job being a surrogate mother. Is there a reason you don't hobble Blossom's back legs with rope to train her not to kick ? Just curious. That kitten is crawling under Joel's legs hoping for a stray squirt of milk, or hoping for that bucket to tip over. Lol Stay happy, healthy, hydrated, safe and warm. May God continue to bless you and your family..
Lots of questions ... i hope that’s okay? I see the calf is close to mama ... does she not fight to feed her calf? Do you ever let them together? And past the first 3 days how much do you give the calf every day and for how long? Thank you 🐮
I don’t have time to chat now…. But here’s my newest calf……. Any remaining questions I’ll answer this evening when I’m back! th-cam.com/video/tHejSajSke4/w-d-xo.html
Could you just let the calf have at the cow for the first three or four days then start milking her or do you separate the calf immediately after birth?
Calf can't do those steps naturally? Other words if cow had calf and no one was around for a few weeks what is likely hood of things going right ? We had milk cow but not one with calf
Ps..great milk'in. That baby is a cutie pie..I just wanna squeeze it's cheeks..Oh wait it's a calf not a baby.. Gee wiz..Thanks again family for your videos...

We don’t like to hobble them unless they are really bad ..... only one cow we ever owned had to be hobbled. Caleb loves his new job!
Put a running w on her that will make her stop kicking
I’m a fan of the running W!
I'm glad the calf is doing so good ! When does Joel turn 16 and get his drivers license ? Aavery got his last month and wants to go everywhere lol .
I honestly don’t know if he’ll get his at 16....... we’ll see.
@@McGieHomesteadAdventures They have changed a bunch of laws from when I was 16 .
I imagine so! That’s only been 150 years ago! Just kidding bro 140😂

Could you just let the calf have at the cow for the first three or four days then start milking her or do you separate the calf immediately after birth?
You can do that….. usually you should still make sure the bag is fully milked out after the first day…. Otherwise you’ll have a huge mastitis problem
@@McGieHomesteadAdventures Thanks!! Had a big mastitis problem with a goat a few years back and it was baaaaad!!!
Calf can't do those steps naturally? Other words if cow had calf and no one was around for a few weeks what is likely hood of things going right ? We had milk cow but not one with calf
No it’s very possible that all will go fine without interference..... but it’s our only milk cow and we don’t take chances
Wish I had one I have goat but my billy died and goat has to be bred to produce milk
Goats are expensive right now too!
Michael you want to know about now knowing me that I give you the benefit of the doubt but I bring questions this is fun bring my question to dispute
I have no problem with that James……. I enjoy a good time like anyone else!
calves need to feed from mother for a few days
If it’s coming from the bottle or her teat…… makes no difference.
Ps..great milk'in. That baby is a cutie pie..I just wanna squeeze it's cheeks..Oh wait it's a calf not a baby.. Gee wiz..Thanks again family for your videos...
😂🤣😂 I’m sure the calf wouldn’t mind a little squeeze!!!😂
