- The world of Fallout has many terrifying and seemingly cosmic creatures pulled from the darkest depths imaginable, genetically engineered lizards standing fifteen feet tall, amalgamations of pulsating flesh, slowly shuffling on legs both human and animal, but sometimes there’s a creature that could be considered normal, roaches, scorpions and flies to name a few, but there is one that stands out from the rest and that is of course the Cazador. But what is a Cazador, how were they made, and where do they come from?

I feel like everyone's first encounter with a cazador went a bit like this:
1. Sees cazador
2. Think to self, "oh, it's probably similar to the bloat fly! I'll just shoot it In the head in vats and loot its corpse!
3. Shoot cazador
4. Realize mistake
5. Get swarmed
6. Panic
7. Die

Cazadores: The things that scare the shit out of you by sneaking up on you early game.
Until you get Boone, then he scares the shit out of you with his kill cams.
Pair up ED-E with Boone and a low-perception player and suddenly you get them shooting at seemingly nothing, long before it's either on your HUD as enemies OR even freaking *rendered*.
Arcade is also a good one to have when dealing with cazadors

More like the giant radscorpions is what gave me PTSD. You thought they're just normal size at a distance until you realize they're the size of a pick up truck up close.
I love how Obsidian put giant radscorpians just north of the graveyard as an extra warning.

Cazadores were always one of my favorite New Vegas monsters because of how serious you had to take them lest they swarm and kill you within a few seconds

i mean, if it were just that they'd be fine. It's the fact that you have to stock up on a fuck ton of anti-venom to deal with them that's annoying. Once you get stung you're basically dead otherwise.

Short answer: they are the one creature that you want heavy freakin weapons trained on at ALL times. They are basically more dangerous then the Deathclaws.
Only vats or melee are effective but the fat man is a bit risky

Cazadores were never a problem for me since whenever I found them, I had 20 antivenoms I convenently forgot about. The perks of weightless aid items!
The one benefit of being pestered by Legion assassin parties every ten minutes. :P

You know the thing that makes me the most uncomfortable them is? thinking about how they might reproduce and if it’s at all similar to the real life counterparts Hawk wasps. (Laying eggs into living prey)

@Bluenest022 im aware, And actually they don’t kill the tarantulas there venom is a paralytic venom venom that the tarantulas able to survive long enough for the larvae eat the still living tarantula. Hence why I find them frightening. (It Combines two of my fears)

Connor notyerbidness and the only known “remedy” for what to do when stung is to literally just lie down and scream.
i mean might be a horrendous amount of rad scrops and the big fire ants without them. only bad to think about if they lay the eggs in humans :P
It makes sense for the cazadors to lay regular eggs instead of mimicking a tarantula hawk.
Their prey has expanded to include a larger variance in body size, so the process may not work as well as in a tarantula. They also have larger bodies and brains that take longer to develop, meaning that cazadors need parents that stick around the nest to teach the young. This is seen in game as young Cazadors follow their parents around like young predator animals IRL.
I rest my case.

Cazadors, the first of two enemies that will get ne to turn around and cry in fear. The other being the Chorus Hunter in Skyrim
Tbh, I'd much rather fight the Chorus Hunter than a Caz.... at least they don't usually swarm you , and after a few levels you can manage them. Caz on the other hand are a pain no matter the level or equipment.
@@jwisemanm Unless you're a stealth pewpew/bangbang 9/10 Perception build, then it's the Cazadores you can snipe EZPZ and the Chorus Hunters that end up being a moment of sheer panic for your archery build unless you're shooting literally every Chorus cocoon you can find from way far.

@@neoqwerty Cazadores have a super high perception, so I doubt stealth will do much of anything.
So I finally convinced my little sister to play this game all the way through. When she started taking the North Route out of Goodsprings after defeating Joe Cobb's gang, I started giggling a little bit but didn't say anything. She told me to knock it off. Then, when she saw the first young cazador (after having taken out a couple bloatflies in Goodsprings' Cemetery), she said "okay, this route doesn't look to hard." I could barely stifle my laughter. To her credit, she managed to take it out with her 9mm sub. Then, no less than FOUR adult Cazadores descended from the fucking cliffside, and I started laughing like a goon as she let out a little squeak of terror and ran in the opposite direction before getting murdered immediately.
Going North of Goodsprings and getting ganked by Cazadores is one of those essential, classic Fallout experiences that everyone who plays this game has, and it made me instantly nostalgic.
Then she said, "Okay, so I guess I'm not going that way. How the hell do I get to Vegas?". I replied, "So, the best way to get there is through this middle path here. You'll know it when you see a crane. Make sure you sneak past the guy in the yellow hard hat..."
Sad that some people so dead set on avoiding the entire early game, especially on their first run. The answer should have been to open the PipBoy and pay attention to the directions given to you by the main quest.

I decided to play New Vegas after watching some of your videos, I saw these and reacted with more terror than when I got attacked by a deathclaw like a minute later.
These things are way worse than deathclaws because of their speed and how they swarm the player.
They are why i keep the heartless perk from big MT

It might be the description for the cazadore "egg" is a bit misleading, and those are cocoons. As in, they've already hatched into larvae, eaten the outside of the corpses (hence the bloody visceral remains in the middle of the rooms) and will hatch into juvenile cazadores.

TBH, no deathclaw has every stricken the same fear as a cazadore. You can react quickly and still die by its massive poison damage. Flies, allowing it to travel all terrains extremely quickly and making little sound, giving it the ability to surprise and close the distance in an ambush as well as be fast enough to never allow its prey to get away. An antimaterial rifle is my Ol' reliable for deathclaws as its high damage per shot on a big target is efficient, my best weapon for a cazadore is a companion for it to kill first.
I would always panic when I'd see a swarm of red dots quickly moving left and right on my compass.
There is no other enemy that I hate fighting more than these things. Even when you cripple a Cazador’s wings, it drags itself towards you; even more pissed off than before-if that’s even possible.
The guy who was video taping so close to that Tarantula Hawk hunting has some balls.

The name "Cazadore" is derived from their scientific name, "Fidgety Winged Bastards". Probably.

I went thru the cazador trail, going from Red Rock Canyon to Jacobstown.
After getting the Platinum Trophy i had 2 remaining personal trails, clear the Cazador Alley and the Deathclaw Promontory, wich i successfully completed, after that i left the game and moved on, but is one of my top 10 favorite games of all time, a remake should happen asap.

I had no idea giant cazadores where a thing. I've played that DLC so many times and energy encountered one
Having to go get cazadore eggs was the hardest experience in all of New Vegas, I had to drink at least 30 gallons of anti venom just get all the way through them.
I wish bigger Caza’s would pop into smaller ones when you killed them, like the bugs in brotherhood of steel.

Imagine taking Boone or any of the others with you to the final mission, they die and the entire map is swarmed with casadors spawning from their corpse.
Kinda like the Ark xenomorph mod where the guy just was in the middle of a face higher orgy, snuck into a enemy camp and 40+ xenomorphs exploded out dorm within him.

I hate it when you come across a lone cazador. At least when I go up against a horde, I know I'm probably going to die. When I go up against a single one on it's own, it gives me hope that I might survive. Heavy emphasis on "might". Safe to say that they never travel alone.
In my first encounter i saw their wings from afar and when i noticed how fast they are moving i deemed my bolt action rifle aim not enough and went around them as far as i could. Saved myself unknowingly.

Accidentally crippling a Cazador's wing in a blind, 40mm grenade filled, panic is probably one of the most helpful things I've accidentally stumbled across.
i have got to say that i have not played fallout too much, i had new vegas on xbox which i played pretty frequently but in the past couple years i've not touched the games too much. still your videos have a real charm to them, they are the same as documentaries/conspiracy theories in the way that they captivate me and i really enjoy binging them in the background while doing something else

I think the implication is that Boros had them contained and kind of sterile, but the great war and time caused their security to break down and they were released.
Since The Big Empty is stuck in the past, they still think everything is fine because they're crazy
I literally watched this video yesterday and was so surprised to see a tarantula hawk dragging a spider while on a walk today!!
One scary discovery I made was doubling back to Bonnie Springs a few days later after clearing out the Raiders. Cazadores will spawn as they formed a small hive on one of the buildings. Although I had Boone and EDE with me, I was officially creeped out.

I remember taking the wrong road in goodsprings my first playthrough and Victor rolled up and told me no. So I listen to him and start walking back towards town only to turn my head around and see Victor ripped limb from limb by a creature I had never seen before who then faced me and flew forward. I immediately hit vats and Lord have mercy I stopped time with ones face inches from mine.

You are getting some mad views my friends, nice to see you go from a few hundred to a few thousands of views, good job dude.
I was always terrified of cazadors. I don't know what it was but I think it had something to do with when they swarm you. But I then realized that any type of shotgun can make them incapable of flying. Either use vats or be quick enough to aim for a wing and if you barely even tag it, it'll be crippled. I'm not sure but I think the wings only have a one or two damage resistance stat on it.
I remember my first encounter with one of these beasts. Well, three of them or so. I was like, “yeah, this’ll be easy.”
Then I knew.
Cazadores: The reason I quit my first New Vegas playthrough and only picked it up again years later
that time when i saw a group of three cazadores basically destroy a pack of deathclaws one by one, i get even more scared from they (and i don't even know that was possible to fear those things more)
Having seen tarantula hawks in real life, god knows I would not want to deal with them at this size

I've never had an issue or fear of cazadors, deathclaws on the other hand being almost uneffected by energy weapons.
having annoying tough damage threshold, they're quick and can just...choose to ignore your armor? (Among the fact they can always outrun you)
I think Cazadors were just too hyped up on my end, never were so frightening or hard.
Deathclaws though? Hate those things.
The issue with Cazadores is that most new players tend to encounter them early on "taking a shortcut" out of Goodsprings. And on top of that they are quick, have a fair amount of hp and dr, hit like truks, it's very difficult to sneak up to them or avoid them, and you are always (almost) fighting at least 3 or 4 of them at once... being swarmed by those things is a nightmare. FNV deathclaws are very tough indeed, and they shred trough power armor like it was tin foil... but once you got the antimaterial rifle and the right ammo they became way easier. Caz, on the other hand, are still hard to hit.

Even on my first playthrough cazadors werent a problem cause they have the issue of having to stop for a sec
to attack and zig zagging, the poison was only a problem on hard and on hard a death claw slapping the air near you
could destroy you.
Not to mention alot of shortcuts lead to quarry junction or that landfill which I accidently stumbled on, at least you can sneak past
cazadors even if I had a stealthboy those damn dinos always seemed to know where I was and one shot me, I always had more than
one hit with a cazador and they definetly weren't tanky enough to survive being shot in the face like D.C's would shrug off.
@@sokumotanaka9271 mmm... wew had very different experiences. Deathclaws were never much of a problem for me, and one I got my grabby hands on the antimaterial rifle they became almost (ALMOST) easy to take care of from a distant. The fact that they seldom move when not fighting helps. Meanwhile, Cazadores remained the bain of my existence no watter what level I was on. Sure, I could kill them and they weren't going to kill my curier after a few levels... but man they were still annoying as hell to deal with...especially outside of VATS.

@@jwisemanm Cazadors are easy if you got the grenade launcher or ecen the grenade rifle. But yeah, what a pain in the ass they are
I never really had an issue with Cazadores. I would sometimes see them before they were obliterated by Boone and Ed-E and sometimes I'd snipe them myself. The few times I did have an issue with them it wasn't too bad and I ended up leading a legion kill squad into a horde if them and watched the chaos from a distance while picking off members of the squad and Cazadores at the same time.
i felt so badass killing the cazadores outside goodsprings as a level 3 with a suppressed scoped varmint rifle. really lucked out with the gun mods available in the general store

i can almost imagine a quest to find a missing person only to find him deep inside a cazadores nest alive and conscious filled with larva only for him to beg you to put him out of his misery.

I learned about tarantula hawks from the fallout wiki. I was happy to learn about them before encountering one in the wild so I knew to show it respect. They have a nasty sting.

One of the most deceiving enemies in the game. Really the only thing I'm afraid of on any given playthrough.
Whenever I go near locations with Cazadors, I always make sure to bring Boone and ED-D. Thanks for the nightmares New Vegas.
