The brotherhood could have had such a huge say in policy if they were an original founder of ncr. The entire technology sector would belong to them if they weren't stupid.
President Peterson's horrible choices to turn away from the dharma basis and declaring war on THE WORST faction to do so against singlehandedly crippled the NCR; Gold reserves stolen leading to economic collapse, Severe loss of life, loss of societal unity due to the slackened ownership limitations; all of it weakening the NCR and soon fracturing or outright felling the faction, unless drastic action is taken.
Agreed. In many ways I think the legion actually resembles the Mongol empire more than anything. Uniting and absorbing tribes, assimilation if the enemy surrenders, and extreme reprisals if they do not.
The Legion does not Resemble Rome beyond its Aesthetic and thats Intentional. Imperial Rome Elected it's Emperor and had a Senate. Edward Claims to be the Incarnation of Mars. Julius was Declared Jupiter by his Followers.
It feels like nobody gives a shit about fallout 3 or even 4 anymore yet New Vegas is still being talked about to this day. Fallout 3 had it’s massive blockbuster-style hype in its time, but New Vegas has the true staying power.
New Vegas has more to talk about, for better or for worse. Fallout 3 and 4 really only attracted and kept the more casual audience who just likes pew pewing.

Another fatal flaw is their severe lack of counterintelligence or spies in general, they have positively no effective counter to the frumentarii and as such Legion spies plague the NCR and assure the Legion is always one step ahead.
Caesar's Legion LARPs as Rome but the NCR basically is Rome. It's an imperial project that is designed to boost the standard of living of the core while only benefitting the periphery to the extent that its extraction infrastructure does. We even have the proverbial degradation of the leadership from a man and woman who truly had the best intentions in mind to kleptocrats with little regard but their own power. The NCR can easily protect itself from the Legion but it's trying to run a modern military on foot logistics, it has very limited power projection. Without the power of a protagonist they're actually losing ground in the Mojave. The manpower resources of the Legion seem inexhaustible compared to what the NCR is about to deploy and it's becoming better armed. The Legion isn't really a threat to the core of the NCR and the NCR cannot really concentrate the needed forces to overcome the Legion. If anything the NCR is the Roman Empire and Caesar's Legion plays the role of the Sassanids.
The Roman periphery was a massive money waste and sink, only there so the periphery provided cover for the inner core. Don’t think it applies to the NCR
The Legion isn't trying to be Rome, it doesn't govern anything. Edward Sallow simply used Julius Caesar's military strategies to build himself an unstoppable raiding force. Sallow doesn't care about building a nation and doesn't mess with wastelanders. He was looking for bigger and bigger enemies to overcome until he finally found a worthy opponent in the NCR. He even says, with his victory the Legion and NCR will merge and some new society will rise.
To me the NCR’s fatal flaw is being stretched too thin in most of their areas in New Vegas making them easy targets to the Legion. But it only takes Boone and a few other sharpshooters to wipe out the Legion in The Fort.
The NCR had to opportunity to use Old World examples as inspiration to lead a new way. Instead they used it as an example to follow. I'm not saying the NCR is doomed, but with Bethesdas writing staff? they're pretty fucked regardless.
Brilliant video, a perfect view of the NCR. There really isn't a good choice in Fallout NV, but scarily NCR is closest to the western world in terms of what's brought it low.
Probably because like America it was mostly made up of a lot of different peoples with different backgrounds ,traditions and languages meaning the most common elements rose to the top because of the need to to trade and efforts to create a common identity , American English and the New Californian culture from the HUB and other large cities like the Shady sands was adopted by tribals and small towns so that they could get better work and access more goods that were beginning to be created by the factories. The adoption of NCR currency over local currency and the decision to move to big cities in search of work and so on
It is hinted in the game who is the probable victor but also the game tells us that the NCR has all the flaws of a modern government while the Legion is a timebomb.
The House always wins! In fact, in a Tim Cain video on the true purpose of vaults; it was to give data from all the vault experiments to speed up construction of starships to move humanity to the stars. You would need in a starship, how to grow a self-sustaining food supply (Vault 22), how to maintain life through cryogenic freezing (Vault 111), how to terraform planets (GECK).
@@command8783 that was clearly a governement project though, governement means enclave, vault tech, general atomics, the institute etc were all subservient to the enclave, vault worked for them too, the only difference is that he had a moral compass and refused to do anything too evil, he merely built war robots for them, but we know he was kept out of the robobrain project (horror movie stuff), in fact the robobrain facility was hidden under a robco store, but ran by general atomics, with the roboco employes being kept in the dark about what was happening in their basement So had the future plans continued, it would have been the enclave expanding their empire into space, with spaceships being built likely by house and others, mr house meanwhile of course never liked working for the american governement, just didn't really have a choice being born an american, but also independently has his own projects for space colonisation, but while mr house's plan is more benevolent (the reason he wants to colonise the stars is to find a planet "not tainted by the madness and folly of mankind" AKA less irradiated), while the enclave just wanted to expand their extremely evil influence in all possible directions, including upward So it would be a big mistake to conclude that vault tech worked for house, that's absolutely not the relationship here, both house and vault tech worked for the enclave, and indepndently house also wants to build spaceships, but for reasons different than his old enclave master
Really, because all of the pro and anti NCR information in this video came from Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas, games that were made by the OG creators of Fallout, not Bethesda (Bethesda only published New Vegas). Also don’t think that New Vegas being written developed and released in the aftermath of the second Iraq war is remotely a coincidence.
@@pmpowalisz I'm quite aware and appreciative of the messaging of the NCR in the games. My jab was at how Bethesda has handled them in the show now that they are operating by themselves. I do apologize for not making that clearer.
In the show the NCR plays a major part in the story, (even though they are clearly in decline), so I do not know what you are talking about. The NCRs decline is well hinted at in Fallout New Vegas (which this video touched on quite a few of those hints), which was made by the OG Fallout creators. If it was as you claim the show would have just been on the east coast which is where the Bethesda Fallout games took place.
As an NCR Fan, you can't really be a fan if you ignore the fact that the NCR represent a Democracy teetering on the edge of collapse into an Autocracy. The NCR represents a Roman Republic recreation, and the Legion represents the Roman Empire threatening to blossom from the Two factions which would lead to the Imperialistic, Legalistic Monster that was the Roman Empire and restore the corrupt founding seed that the Old US was founded upon. The NCR has *potential* but that doesn't mean what you find in Fallout NV is good, they're just *barely* skating the line between Antagonistic and Villainy. In reality, the Courier is the defining character for the Republic much like how the first two vault dwellers were defining. You as the Courier define whether the NCR slides further into Darkness or if the NCR begins to change trajectory. Supporting Bitter Springs, promoting Khan coexistence, ensuring you fail to save President Kimbal, Defeating the Legion, Ensuring Helios one powers all of Navada, ensuring Hanlon's survival (And hopeful future presidency) Promoting selflessness and heroism in NCR troopers and being a beacon of morality. Of course, that is what Old World Blues is about. Ulysses reminds you of your importance and the future you are crafting, your 'message'. Conclusion, the NCR is only as Good as you bully & strongarm them to be. If left to their natural instincts they'll become more and more the Enclave under a different flag.

Great video. On a side note I feel really old when people make videos about Fallout and Fallout 2 and talk about how they weren't even born when they came out.
There seems to be a lot of misinformation in the comments section about the state of the NCR thanks to the Fallout tv series. I’m going to assume you’re already spoiled about the fate of Shady Sands by everyone else or you just don’t care. Anyways, the NCR is still alive and well. Sure they lost Shady Sands and a significant chunk of Southern California, but they are still a huge faction spanning five states worth of territory. Shady Sands wasn’t the capital of the NCR by the time of the show (the billboard specifically says “first capital of the NCR”, implying it was moved at least once), so none of their core legislative personnel would’ve been in the city at the time. And on that note, Moldaver was never the president of the NCR. She was either the mayor of Shady Sands (although that’s just my speculation) or she was just a popular public figure. Either way, she took control of the Southern Californian remnants after the bomb dropped, but she never led the faction as a whole.
@@formulatag5880 they lost the boneyard we haven’t seen the rest of California nor have we seen southern Oregon. The only one who needs to drop the cope is you
All the brotherhood needs is liberty prime back, east coast BOS would decimate the NCR. They now conscript wastelanders into their ranks, theyve got a big ass airship, liberty prime (if the soul survivor joins them) and well the soul survivor as a sentinal if they choose the brotherhood.
NCR: haha AMR bullet goes pew Real talk NCR has people but BoS have a giant robot. Yet the giant robot will nuke everything but NCR can have millions die to hold a powerplant and restart it
That’s way more than the BoS have Also… artillery. Prime was taken down by an orbital strike, enough artillery, which the NCR have, would do the same. Stop tryna steal everyone’s shit, tin cans.
The Minutemen are trying to be a military without a nation which means whatever nation that forms with similar value are naturally going to absorb the Minutemen into their military, that's the only way I see it happening and as far as we know, the closest nation forming in the East is the Brotherhood of Steel.
The NCR reminds me of 19th century America except they’re expanding from the west coast. I think the biggest mistake was warring with the BoS because the conflict could’ve been avoided. If they never fought the war they would’ve wiped the floor with the legion the first time around. They suffered too many casualties, got too cocky, and crashed their currency. I also feel the smart move would be to use Vegas as a buffer until they have enough strength to peacefully annex it.
they could still have crippled the legion by using there rangers to reek havoc on the legion side will making steady pushes with the army even if there just to burn the place down
BoS were psychopaths devoid of reality. Also legion has p much all of the midwestern tribes and land. Imo NCR needs to keep researching new tech in weapons and become more modern like the army in the current US. Otherwise BoS got a leg up on tech weapons and legion has strength in each person vs a bunch of people
War with the BoS is almost always inevitable, they’ll attack you if you use advanced tech & don’t give it to them, which includes stuff like artillery & HELIOS because of the space laser. If they want it, they try & take it, & that just isn’t gonna stand with factions that have a military or fighting force.
The BoS started that war because they're retards and demanded that the NCR give ALL the tech they got from the Enclave, including non-military stuff because "muh dangerous". They picked a fight, thought they could win, then got the hammer dropped on them because the NCR is a functional nation with a vastly superior industry. And the NCR stole a bunch of shit from the 2 bunkers they managed to capture without them exploding, which serves to make the BoS seethe to this day.
Two things. First; I think the mod Old World Blues for Hearts of Iron 4 covers the flaws of the NCR best, rampant corruption, political infighting and mass over-extension, coupled with a crippled, declining economy dominated by Brahmin-Barons (and even a potential civil war), and you have a recepie for failure/collapse. Second; The NCR's fatal flaw is being in the way of the writers; How they never notice vaults 31-33 (for literal decades) is beyond me. How they collapse so quickly (or are so useless) the enclave can create research outposts in California when the show takes place is, again, beyond me. How they have the capacity to invade the Mojave, but don't have the capacity to reclaim "Shady Sands" (The Bone Yard) for 10 plus years. How the have the capacity to mint, then print (following the destruction of the gold reserves) money, yet we see none of it, at all, post nuke (it's only 10 years...). How they think it's a good idea to have Ghouls that can go feral if they don't get a special serum serve in the army, which means if logistics fail, they have a massive liability with entire units going "rouge" and supplies wasted. And *much* *much* more...
looks like you put more thought into this than the writers of the show did. Bethesda/Amazon wanted a anarchy fallout 3/4 style setting for their show, and they wanted it to take place in Southern California because its easy to film there. so they made it happen, lore be damned.
I'd say the special serum thing is a bit vague. The reason why I say this is because this had only been introduced in the fallout TV show. In every other game, not mention of a special serum was needed for a ghoul to not turn feral. In fact, if I remember correctly- The only thing a ghoul needs to stay sane, is access to food, water, and avoiding an overdose of radiation. It's how ghouls that were there pre-war, were able to survive.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the role the brahmin barons played in ousting Tandi's successor. Also, the NCR didn't lose it's gold reserves to Brotherhood raids. It lost them to one big one. The Brotherhood launched an assault on the NCR's gold reserves and blew them up. So in a way, the NCR's eventual death at the Legion's hands was the Brotherhood reaching out from the grave.
The BoS do be doing a little trolling. To be fair the NCR is in this situation because they have never actually won a war by themselves if it’s not against tribals. All their conflicts up to the BoS v NCR war was with the assistance of the Brotherhood. Yeah they won all the major battles against the BoS but never actually won the war since as far as present time the war is still going on. And the legion they made a stalemate. Honestly they tend to beat the enemy back but never finish the job which bites them every time
@@allenaju1856 Thats not true though. Their war against the BOS is still ongoing but as seen with the Mojave, they clearly have an overwhelming chance of victory and almost total victory over them, with the Mojave chapter literally hiding out and will die if the Courier doesn't intervene. The war against the Legion only goes bad because the NCR sends the bottom of the barrel and shit tier equipment to them while also having General "wait and see" Oliver who is hilariously incompetent. Yet they still manage to hold and even beat back the Legion by themselves with what amounts to an ill-equipped and over stretched garrison against a full on assault by the Legion. The NCR clearly can win against peer on peer conflicts and with the BOS slow decline, shows that as long as they have the will, can annihilate any foe in the wasteland.
@allenaju1856 Well to be fair, the Brotherhood did just raid towns to steal pre war tech without any explanation. If I was a NCR citizen I would probably see that as a reason why they have to go.
Can’t wait to see this video blow up and all the NCR fanboys flock to this video to huff copium at how terrible their faction actually is. Also great video man, well done 👍
The ncr stands for democracy and human rights that gives its a citizens a good life is so much better then a mass murdering faction like Caesars legion your the only faction boy here
On my initial playthrough with FONV I went with the NCR. The faction I was familiar with from the classic FO era of the franchise. But the more you pay attention into what they're doing, what they've done leading up to the events in FONV, the picture gets darker, murkier. These were not the cool, neighborly guys when Tandy was around leading them. Honestly, the post-Tandy era of more aggressive action sounds a lot like how the Roman Republic became too successful for its own good. The other 2 factions, Mr House and Caesar's Legion weren't much to my liking, either. I was not going to side with gangsters and madmen running around the wasteland. The NCR was the lesser of these evils, but again, I liked the NCR less and less the more I learned about them. New Vegas and Caesar's Legion also have the great vulnerability of being totally dependent on one individual that makes everything possible.
This. Exactly. House had ideals and a vision but ultimately was just one man and in the real world when has giving one man absolute power ever been good for the people? Not to mention an eccentric billionaire. The Legion's way was already centuries outdated even before the war. Whatever order they offer, unless you wanna roleplay as a villain, doesnt justify slavery and rape among other barbarism.. The NCR isnt supposed to be flawless. It just has to be marginally better than the others. Which itself is up for debate but that's what the game's all about: choices with consequences. No way would there be an endgame decision that was so cut and dry as to be "the perfect choice" just degrees of good/bad.
@@dogbackwards7658 "in the real world when has giving one man absolute power ever been good for the people" uhhh almost always?? genghis khan, gaddafi, caesar, caesar augustus, a dozen other roman dictators, alexander, and literally hitler. its not their absolute power that was the catalyst for their peoples eventual downfall but the fact that their power was very limited and that they had to compete over it, either with interal or external rivals. giving someone like house absolute power would without a doubt be a good thing for the people considering that hes practically immortal and doesnt even have appetites or subordinates he has to please. these men had visions of greatness and prosperity for their people, and its the fact that they werent immortal, self sufficient, and heading an army of killer bots to enforce their will that was the source of their troubles. what an insane, historically ignorant, and unfortunately all too common point of view. Do you even think before you speak? Do you EVER second guess yourself??? ncr cuqqholds are utterly pathetic.
Mostly head canon, can't actually do this in game (won't let you) but the Legion, House and NCR all have the right idea yet are too greedy and self serving, you of course should expand to grow, but at a moderate rate so as to not weaken yourself. Like early NCR, be diplomatic (reasonably), seek peaceful outcomes if possible, yet like the legion, be harsh and merciless towards your enemies/criminals, to deter the corrupt, (within reason), whilst like house, opt for improvement & advancement, but not at the peoples expense, slow and steady can yield more then strong and forceful,. With the independent route, i see the Mojave (At least) eventually being unified under these means, accepting all, yet condemning the wicked.
"Like early NCR, be diplomatic (reasonably), seek peaceful outcomes if possible," yeah that's not what the NCR oes lol th-cam.com/video/QGAa4EGErJg/w-d-xo.html they genocide or enslave any group they meet on sight, there is no diplomacy, identical to the legion, in the NCR everyone is taxed and subject to concscription (therefore clearly slaves, not free men or citizen) The only reason they haven't killed house yet (for no reason other than they want everyone to submit) is because they don't have the military strength to do it, as House himself says, they're playing somewhat nice because they're not in a position of ovewhelming strength, if they were, they would kill everyone, like the legion, House knows this, that's why he has to let both sides kill each other if he has any chance to survive "yet like the legion, be harsh and merciless towards your enemies/criminals, to deter the corrupt, (within reason)" so "be cruel unfair and sadistic towards """"your enemies""", which is defined as "anyone you chose" ", great plan there chief " to deter the corrupt, (within reason)" ah yes creating institutions than can threaten everyone into silence sure sounds like a good way to avoid corruption oh wait no that's just a way to create and enforce corruption, a thief is defined as someone who steals stuff, what exactly are you going to do when Caesar or any of his officers steal from you? Oh that's right you're gonna bend over and take it like the little whore you are, but are they not thieves? Of course they are, you're just stupid enough to be convinced that there is a difference between a person that steals from you at gun point, and a person that steals from you at gunpoint while wearing a silly dress, there's no difference, the legion are raiders, just a larger group of raiders
The video itself was incredible, but I’m gonna focus too much on that intro. As someone who has played over a thousand hours of this masterpiece of a game and holds it very close to my heart ever since I was a kid when it came out, that NCR theme drumming on to open the video as you let it sink in for a second or two was pure gold, insta like
Indeed, The roaming band of slavers and barbarians would serve better as Decor with their skin plastered over the walls of the Lucky Thirty-eight than Soldiers.
If i be perfectly honest, the NCR and pretty much all faction in new vegas is flawed, but when your competitor are anarchy, roman larper and slightly insane slight reasonable pre-war genius, you only have to argue between house and ncr to see which is slightly less shit
Anarchy is temporary, a powerful New Vegas however would be the inevitable outcome however short of the player character being a absolute incompetent nutjob.
@@CombineWatermelon MUH CARAVANERS is all you care about happy merchants? Also house doesn't exactly control a large area of land(he awoke in 2274), but in the land he controls everyone is also safe, with the added bonus that he doesn't kill or torture half the people in the strip lastly the legion only tolerates merchants because it helps them while they need the help, if they were to conquer everyone and become to sole power remaining, they would enslave the merchants too, legion end game is everyone was a slave collar, the legionaries would be slaves, the merchants, the civilians, the legates would be slaves, the only free man would be the leader, who himself wouldn't really be free since he would be forced to do what won't cause an imediate revolt, instead of doing what he wants, and that's not even considering it would explode into systematic civil wars, constantly, like the monarchy period of the roman empire, that even had 6 different emperors in a year, an absolute disgrace of a nation that's already dead
Mr. House is the most sane character in all of Fallout who singlehandedly saved Vegas from getting nuked. The only thing House did wrong was finessing Vault 21 and filling most of it with concrete. He owns casinos because he has no other way to acquire money, and he hired gangs to run them because there were no other factions to recruit at the time.
The republic brings trade, stability, peace and freedom. It does have systemic issues yes, but no other faction gives their citizens the tools to change the system. The NCR is the best major faction, but theyre no followers of the apocalypse
The problem with that is- it doesn't. You see in the games how hard it is for the NCR to keep their own trade routes clear, if they expand too far- they can't even fulfil their promises to those under their own flag.
The NCR is a extremist despotic military culture thinly veiled with democracy. The way corruption is depicted, described, and shown in the NCR makes me believe on good reason that they don't bring enough stability, propriety, or 'peace' to any region beyond their homeland. Those 'systemic issues' are a fundamentally broken part of the way the society formed. It's why so many people have become detractors from it, it's everything wrong with most modern societies inside of what should be a new beginning. The most comfortable and worse option just by familiarity.

Communists never used human wave tactics though, the USSR actually pioneered combined arms warfare with their "deep battle" doctrine in the '20s and '30s
@@JoetheDilo1917 The reason i said communist and not specifically USSR is because other communist nations have like china have used tactics that could be called human wave at least from the oppositions pov
human wave tactics is also the main thing the legion does, every NPC talks about it constantly, the legion literally charges against machinegun nests with swords and knives, with the expected result, until eventually the enemy runs out bullets, and because they have plot armor, somehow they haven't ran out of men Both the NCR and Legion use human wave tactics because their armies are made up of slaves, the NCR is a slaving empire, a conscript is a slave, same with the legion, both use conscription, both have armies of slaves, as such the commanders do not care about the lives of their soldiers, and are willing to use human wave tactics Any army of free men looks like the boomers, when they took casualties, they very quickly had to reajust strategy to stop the loss of valuable people, same with the brotherhood west coast chapters and the enclave, what all 3 have in common is that membership is either based on close nit communities (boomers and enclave), or voluntary (brotherhood), as such those factions all have in common that they won't use human wave tactics, because unlike the NCR and legion's slave armies, the military leadership feels kinship with the soldiers and know they are valuable, where as the NCR and Legion leadership handpick sadistic/deranged/psychopath generals to lead their troops, the generals are chosen to be the personality type of wicked serial killers, this is true in the ncr and legion, to further make sure that they don't care about the lives of the cattle legionaries and cattle rangers, over achieving the goals of their masters
@@deltaforce2780 that's just china lol, when has china ever not done shit like this? As for communists, this is the same general structure, communists are small groups of social engineers who will enslave a large society, the armies of communsits are also slave armies, also made up of conscripts, as such the same patterns emerge, that of complete disregard for the lives of their troops The same is true in all slaving empires of significant size, the nazis did it, in fact contrary to what their propaganda will have you beleive, they were by far the faction of quantity over quality and zerg rush tactic, especially if you go further back and include WW1, this is true for mussolini's italy, where the best example is that time he tried to invade france, and after realising his army wasn't taking any objective, ordered his general to kill as many of his own soldiers as possible as fast as possible "so that he would have a few thousand dead to show for at the negociation table of the peace treaty to hitler" (lmao, "WHAT IS OUR DUTY? THAT WE FIGHT AND DIE! WHAT IS DEATH? WHAT MUSSOLINI WANTS TO BEG HITLER TO GIVE HIM SOME LAND! WHAT IS DEATH??? IT IS OUR DUTY!!!", imagine being a guy in that army) Exact same thing for england and the USA, who are also slave societies, they also had conscript, and also had the same characteristic complete disregard for their lives, the biggest example for america probably being the planned invasion of japan, where they expected something like 5 million american soldiers dying, and yet were completely willing to do it and didn't give a single shit about the lives of the cattle soldiers So really this is more of a trend of any slaver society, the communists without exception(well maybe except some small anarchist movement that circle the loop by the ancap) are slaver societies so they of course behave that way, but they're nto the only ones, any society that practices conscription can be safely expected to use human wave tactics, or do any other thing that is born out of a similar lack of intrest for the well being of their soldiers Same nowdays with ukraine and russia, both slave empires, both using mass conscription, and sending millions into meatgrinders, russia famously even uses conscripts to recon by sending them on suicide charges all accross the front (to see where there is a strong defence, by looking at where the most soldiers died lmao), and ukraine is hardly better but the uniting point of all these nations is that they are funded around the enslavement of the masses by a small group, sometimes in the shadow, sometimes in the open, sometimes honest about their goals, often not, but what matters here is that their armies are made up of slaves recruited at gunpoint, and as such will exhibit strategies like human wave offensives in most cases and btw the USSR absolutely did also do that, to respond to the guy above, combined arms was invented by everyone around the same time, the military architects weren't completely moronic and saw the implications of the knew plane technology, and arrived to the same conclusions everywhere, and I don't know about military history to say if the USSR was really the first to do defence in depth, but it is true they did that, however that's not incompatible with human wave tactics, neither is combined arms, just because you have a few bombers harassing the enemy backlines, and a few tanks, doesn't mean the soviets didn't also send masses of underequiped infantry to run screaming and die at the same time, for this they were the exact same as the germans As for why other nations didn't really do defence in depth, most didn't exactly have the luxury to afford it, countries in europe didn't have the population to spare any soldiers anywhere else than the frontline, meanwhile russia had a massive population, and was fighting a 1 front war on it's narrowest border, they had a lot of soldiers they could use as backup, and had nothign to lose by positioning these backup/reserves behind the frontline, choice made even more obvious by the fact they were losing ground, and could reasonably expect that these defensive lines behind the current front would eventually become the frontline in the future, so really it's something they would have done naturally, and maybe that's how it happened, it's possible they never got the idea and the strategy just morphed out of the very basic actions of putting reservists you didn't have guns and ammo for in places where you would expect future engagements to take place, so that they could already prepare the terrain. But considering the germans had a massive emphasis on raiding, sending their marauder armies to destroy the countries and civilians of the people they attacked behind the frontline, bypassing the defenders, I still find it unlikely no one with influence in the soviet union had the idea to turn this simple organisation of troops into a more intentional system of defence in depth My ovrall point here is still that most countries unlike russia, did not have the luxury or soldiers to spare to put anyone behind the frontlines, russia was in the unique position of having more men than weapons, having a lot of men, fighting on a relatively narrow front compared to the size of their country, and fighting an enemy of raiders who would often try to bypass the defenders and attack the civilians directly, to the point that this was their main war doctrine, doing a lot of things like inventing bombing, the blittrkrieg, focussing heavily on paratroopers and naval landingss, all of these are things germany id, because the main way they won wars was by threats, and by bypassing defending armies, as they had a lot of trouble defeating any foe they faced head on (in fact as far as I recall, the germans never defeated a single army head on, every time they failed to go around they were crushed and defeated, this happened in africa, italy and russia, coincidentally the only cases where they did not manage to go around the enemy army)
@@anonymous-rb2sr "the biggest example for america probably being the planned invasion of japan, where they expected something like 5 million american soldiers dying, and yet were completely willing to do it and didn't give a single shit about the lives of the cattle soldiers" Bruhhhh America cared so much they invented two atomic bombs to prevent the planned invasion.

I forget the rest of the words
there is always meta context in the bethesda game that isn't stated expreslly in the games, if you don't take it into account the players end up making catastrophic mistakes and basically dooming their survival and those of the people they supported, from this lack of information In skyrim/the elder scrolls, the background is this: a state/race of elf supremacists called the thalmor has declared war on the human empire, which was originally founded thousands of years ago by a chad dragonborn who later became the god talos, and is seen as the patron god of mankind (hence the dragon logo of the empire) The problem is the empire lost the first war against the elves, and managed to avoid the complete extermination of mankind by signing a treaty, that included banning the worship of the god of war (in the skyrim universe, gods get stronger as you worship them, by banning the worship of the god, they hope to make humans weaker at war in the future, so that conquering and genociding them will become easier) So basically, talos worship VERY GOOD, empire good, but the empire has to pretend they're following their treaty, less they rekindle the open war they are not currently in a state to win agains the thalmor, so they play a double game as best as they can, openly banning the worship of talos, while still trying to do everything they can to get stronger militarily, including secretely supporting talos worship, in a way that cannot be traced back to the empire If the empire fails to defeat the thalmor army in the coming war, literally all humans in the elder scrolls universe will be slaughtered, so if you side with the snowcloaks, you've just genocided all nords (which they kinda deserve, since they're trying really hard to arrive to that result) As for the people of the frontier frozen northern shithole province of skyrim, they have no idea what's going on, it's complete ooga booga city, everyone is dealing and focussed on completely irrelevant small local problems, no one is aware of the bigger picture, at best some people have a vague notion of a distant war witht he thalmors (and don't understand that if the empire loses the thalmor will come for them next and they have absolutely 0 chance of defeating them if that happens) Talos IS the god of humanity and the god of the Empire, he is literally the ascended first emperor, talos was the one who created the empire and conquered tamriel Stormcloaks are thalmor useful idiots, some of them are literal agents, they only exist to make exterminating mankind easier, and only the most clueless and brainless people, such as the nords of skyrim, and the average gamer, would support them Ulfric Stormcloak himself, their leader, (the yarl in the throneroom) is an agent working for the thalmor (literally to exterminate all humans), he was captured by the thalmors/Aldmeri dominion, he then sided with them, told them all the important intelligence he knew, and agreed to become a 5th column against the humans, at which point he was released by the thalmors, his new masters, and at which point he created a faction to undermine the empire So basically if you don't help the empire in skyrim, all humans are going to get killed, and if you side with the stormcloaks, you're a complete imbecile who just sided with a double agent who's mission it is to weaken mankind for a foreign non human empire that wants you dead

@@macks2337 I was talking to jerglow, accidently deleted his name... somehow... granted he could be a -pedophile- mr. House fan, or -naive- a third party person. But yeah,
Out of the four factions in the Wasteland, House is the only faction that won’t likely collapse after the Battle of Hoover dam. • Yes Man’s “faction” is weak and inexperienced, likely being overrun and destroyed by the NCR • The NCR itself will die if it wins. The internal factors are too much for its corrupt leaders to keep stable. If it isn’t destroyed by the Legion or other factions outside the Mojave, it will fall to civil war. • The Legion will collapse after Caesar dies and the Mojave campaign ends, whether in victory or loss. The Legate is not skilled enough to govern the state, and those who are skilled enough will compete for the rapidly dissolving power. •House has similar issues to Yes Man, but he is far more experienced and (importantly) more diplomatic and trade savvy. He is far more liked among the waste landers then the NCR and his autocratic rule is far more stable. However, if he cannot manage to sign a deal with a weaker NCR the NCR *will* wipe him out. My position is the “best” ending for the stability and prosperity of the Mojave - disregarding the poor morals of all the factions - is the one where House and NCR make a deal with the Courier’s help. With either the 100 speech check or the 100 barter check. This ensures the NCR won’t embargo or destroy New Vegas and House can continue his plan for reconstruction unimpaired. Please leave a reply with your thoughts on this ending (such as critique), the more these relatively hidden endings are discussed the closer we can all come to the optimal ending.
@@derpcade It kinda felt like Bethesda saying "Fuck you" to the success of New Vegas and the entire heritage of west coast Fallout in general. "Screw this pre-established history, we like Enclave vs. Brotherhood of Steel like we did in Fallout 3."
For all its faults what other choice is there? An independent New Vegas that is chaotic and without effective law where raiders are only empowered and those in bad situations suffer worse? A Vegas led by House who restricts where the benefits of a profitable Strip goes too keeping it only in the strip and refusing to try to advance the entire wasteland or at least the backyard of the strip that is freeside? The Legion that will break down when its leader dies and is a backwards nation refusing technology? The Brotherhood that has not the influence or manpower or resources to be a big player in the Mojave and that is doomed to die unless it allies with a larger power? The NCR is the only stable power that would allow the Mojave to survive. With the Courier fixing its problems in the Mojave, the Raiders are wiped out, the Brotherhood made an ally, and the NCR secure authority in Mojave ensuring protection of the people and progressive improvement of the lands. The Legion is the Gothic barbarians wearing Roman facepaint, the NCR is Rome wearing modern USA facepaint

Damn near spot on. This is exactly the parallel that Caesar himself makes when probed on his ideology.
nicely done
@@theneocypherbut what does this mean for quadriplegic Peruvians?
Thats because New Vegas is merely a new frontier territory to them…theres a huge gap between that and their more core territories.
The NCR had to opportunity to use Old World examples as inspiration to lead a new way. Instead they used it as an example to follow. I'm not saying the NCR is doomed, but with Bethesdas writing staff? they're pretty fucked regardless.
2:34 That was a brilliant way of getting around the fact that there's no canon outcome to that particular thing due to it being an RPG.
Brilliant video, a perfect view of the NCR. There really isn't a good choice in Fallout NV, but scarily NCR is closest to the western world in terms of what's brought it low.
Compare to all the factions in the game the ncr in my opinion is the best choice for the wasteland
Their biggest flaw is the fact that the Brother Hood took control of 80% of the power armor in the US before anyone else.
Not in the entire usa lmao
Its ironic that the NCR which turned into a clone of 1950s America, started off inspired by Eastern Mysticism.
@@command8783 that was clearly a governement project though, governement means enclave, vault tech, general atomics, the institute etc were all subservient to the enclave, vault worked for them too, the only difference is that he had a moral compass and refused to do anything too evil, he merely built war robots for them, but we know he was kept out of the robobrain project (horror movie stuff), in fact the robobrain facility was hidden under a robco store, but ran by general atomics, with the roboco employes being kept in the dark about what was happening in their basement
So had the future plans continued, it would have been the enclave expanding their empire into space, with spaceships being built likely by house and others, mr house meanwhile of course never liked working for the american governement, just didn't really have a choice being born an american, but also independently has his own projects for space colonisation, but while mr house's plan is more benevolent (the reason he wants to colonise the stars is to find a planet "not tainted by the madness and folly of mankind" AKA less irradiated), while the enclave just wanted to expand their extremely evil influence in all possible directions, including upward
So it would be a big mistake to conclude that vault tech worked for house, that's absolutely not the relationship here, both house and vault tech worked for the enclave, and indepndently house also wants to build spaceships, but for reasons different than his old enclave master
The real fatal flaw was not being Bethesda's poster boys
Supporting Bitter Springs, promoting Khan coexistence, ensuring you fail to save President Kimbal, Defeating the Legion, Ensuring Helios one powers all of Navada, ensuring Hanlon's survival (And hopeful future presidency)
Promoting selflessness and heroism in NCR troopers and being a beacon of morality. Of course, that is what Old World Blues is about. Ulysses reminds you of your importance and the future you are crafting, your 'message'. Conclusion, the NCR is only as Good as you bully & strongarm them to be.
Second; The NCR's fatal flaw is being in the way of the writers;
How they never notice vaults 31-33 (for literal decades) is beyond me.

"Like early NCR, be diplomatic (reasonably), seek peaceful outcomes if possible,"
yeah that's not what the NCR oes lol
th-cam.com/video/QGAa4EGErJg/w-d-xo.html
they genocide or enslave any group they meet on sight, there is no diplomacy, identical to the legion, in the NCR everyone is taxed and subject to concscription (therefore clearly slaves, not free men or citizen)
The only reason they haven't killed house yet (for no reason other than they want everyone to submit) is because they don't have the military strength to do it, as House himself says, they're playing somewhat nice because they're not in a position of ovewhelming strength, if they were, they would kill everyone, like the legion, House knows this, that's why he has to let both sides kill each other if he has any chance to survive
"yet like the legion, be harsh and merciless towards your enemies/criminals, to deter the corrupt, (within reason)"
so "be cruel unfair and sadistic towards """"your enemies""", which is defined as "anyone you chose" ", great plan there chief
" to deter the corrupt, (within reason)"
ah yes creating institutions than can threaten everyone into silence sure sounds like a good way to avoid corruption
oh wait no that's just a way to create and enforce corruption, a thief is defined as someone who steals stuff, what exactly are you going to do when Caesar or any of his officers steal from you? Oh that's right you're gonna bend over and take it like the little whore you are, but are they not thieves? Of course they are, you're just stupid enough to be convinced that there is a difference between a person that steals from you at gun point, and a person that steals from you at gunpoint while wearing a silly dress, there's no difference, the legion are raiders, just a larger group of raiders
The video itself was incredible, but I’m gonna focus too much on that intro. lastly the legion only tolerates merchants because it helps them while they need the help, if they were to conquer everyone and become to sole power remaining, they would enslave the merchants too, legion end game is everyone was a slave collar, the legionaries would be slaves, the merchants, the civilians, the legates would be slaves, the only free man would be the leader, who himself wouldn't really be free since he would be forced to do what won't cause an imediate revolt, instead of doing what he wants, and that's not even considering it would explode into systematic civil wars, constantly, like the monarchy period of the roman empire, that even had 6 different emperors in a year, an absolute disgrace of a nation that's already dead
Mr. House is the most sane character in all of Fallout who singlehandedly saved Vegas from getting nuked. The only thing House did wrong was finessing Vault 21 and filling most of it with concrete.

The NCR using communist style human wave tactics in a war of attrition against the brotherhood is kinda ironic.
Communists never used human wave tactics though, the USSR actually pioneered combined arms warfare with their "deep battle" doctrine in the '20s and '30s
@@JoetheDilo1917 The reason i said communist and not specifically USSR is because other communist nations have like china have used tactics that could be called human wave at least from the oppositions pov
human wave tactics is also the main thing the legion does, every NPC talks about it constantly, the legion literally charges against machinegun nests with swords and knives, with the expected result, until eventually the enemy runs out bullets, and because they have plot armor, somehow they haven't ran out of men
Both the NCR and Legion use human wave tactics because their armies are made up of slaves, the NCR is a slaving empire, a conscript is a slave, same with the legion, both use conscription, both have armies of slaves, as such the commanders do not care about the lives of their soldiers, and are willing to use human wave tactics
Any army of free men looks like the boomers, when they took casualties, they very quickly had to reajust strategy to stop the loss of valuable people, same with the brotherhood west coast chapters and the enclave, what all 3 have in common is that membership is either based on close nit communities (boomers and enclave), or voluntary (brotherhood), as such those factions all have in common that they won't use human wave tactics, because unlike the NCR and legion's slave armies, the military leadership feels kinship with the soldiers and know they are valuable, where as the NCR and Legion leadership handpick sadistic/deranged/psychopath generals to lead their troops, the generals are chosen to be the personality type of wicked serial killers, this is true in the ncr and legion, to further make sure that they don't care about the lives of the cattle legionaries and cattle rangers, over achieving the goals of their masters
@@deltaforce2780 that's just china lol, when has china ever not done shit like this?
As for communists, this is the same general structure, communists are small groups of social engineers who will enslave a large society, the armies of communsits are also slave armies, also made up of conscripts, as such the same patterns emerge, that of complete disregard for the lives of their troops
The same is true in all slaving empires of significant size, the nazis did it, in fact contrary to what their propaganda will have you beleive, they were by far the faction of quantity over quality and zerg rush tactic, especially if you go further back and include WW1, this is true for mussolini's italy, where the best example is that time he tried to invade france, and after realising his army wasn't taking any objective, ordered his general to kill as many of his own soldiers as possible as fast as possible "so that he would have a few thousand dead to show for at the negociation table of the peace treaty to hitler" (lmao, "WHAT IS OUR DUTY? THAT WE FIGHT AND DIE! WHAT IS DEATH? WHAT MUSSOLINI WANTS TO BEG HITLER TO GIVE HIM SOME LAND! WHAT IS DEATH??? IT IS OUR DUTY!!!", imagine being a guy in that army)
Exact same thing for england and the USA, who are also slave societies, they also had conscript, and also had the same characteristic complete disregard for their lives, the biggest example for america probably being the planned invasion of japan, where they expected something like 5 million american soldiers dying, and yet were completely willing to do it and didn't give a single shit about the lives of the cattle soldiers
So really this is more of a trend of any slaver society, the communists without exception(well maybe except some small anarchist movement that circle the loop by the ancap) are slaver societies so they of course behave that way, but they're nto the only ones, any society that practices conscription can be safely expected to use human wave tactics, or do any other thing that is born out of a similar lack of intrest for the well being of their soldiers
Same nowdays with ukraine and russia, both slave empires, both using mass conscription, and sending millions into meatgrinders, russia famously even uses conscripts to recon by sending them on suicide charges all accross the front (to see where there is a strong defence, by looking at where the most soldiers died lmao), and ukraine is hardly better
but the uniting point of all these nations is that they are funded around the enslavement of the masses by a small group, sometimes in the shadow, sometimes in the open, sometimes honest about their goals, often not, but what matters here is that their armies are made up of slaves recruited at gunpoint, and as such will exhibit strategies like human wave offensives in most cases
and btw the USSR absolutely did also do that, to respond to the guy above, combined arms was invented by everyone around the same time, the military architects weren't completely moronic and saw the implications of the knew plane technology, and arrived to the same conclusions everywhere, and I don't know about military history to say if the USSR was really the first to do defence in depth, but it is true they did that, however that's not incompatible with human wave tactics, neither is combined arms, just because you have a few bombers harassing the enemy backlines, and a few tanks, doesn't mean the soviets didn't also send masses of underequiped infantry to run screaming and die at the same time, for this they were the exact same as the germans
As for why other nations didn't really do defence in depth, most didn't exactly have the luxury to afford it, countries in europe didn't have the population to spare any soldiers anywhere else than the frontline, meanwhile russia had a massive population, and was fighting a 1 front war on it's narrowest border, they had a lot of soldiers they could use as backup, and had nothign to lose by positioning these backup/reserves behind the frontline, choice made even more obvious by the fact they were losing ground, and could reasonably expect that these defensive lines behind the current front would eventually become the frontline in the future, so really it's something they would have done naturally, and maybe that's how it happened, it's possible they never got the idea and the strategy just morphed out of the very basic actions of putting reservists you didn't have guns and ammo for in places where you would expect future engagements to take place, so that they could already prepare the terrain. But considering the germans had a massive emphasis on raiding, sending their marauder armies to destroy the countries and civilians of the people they attacked behind the frontline, bypassing the defenders, I still find it unlikely no one with influence in the soviet union had the idea to turn this simple organisation of troops into a more intentional system of defence in depth
My ovrall point here is still that most countries unlike russia, did not have the luxury or soldiers to spare to put anyone behind the frontlines, russia was in the unique position of having more men than weapons, having a lot of men, fighting on a relatively narrow front compared to the size of their country, and fighting an enemy of raiders who would often try to bypass the defenders and attack the civilians directly, to the point that this was their main war doctrine, doing a lot of things like inventing bombing, the blittrkrieg, focussing heavily on paratroopers and naval landingss, all of these are things germany id, because the main way they won wars was by threats, and by bypassing defending armies, as they had a lot of trouble defeating any foe they faced head on (in fact as far as I recall, the germans never defeated a single army head on, every time they failed to go around they were crushed and defeated, this happened in africa, italy and russia, coincidentally the only cases where they did not manage to go around the enemy army)

there is always meta context in the bethesda game that isn't stated expreslly in the games, if you don't take it into account the players end up making catastrophic mistakes and basically dooming their survival and those of the people they supported, from this lack of information
In skyrim/the elder scrolls, the background is this: a state/race of elf supremacists called the thalmor has declared war on the human empire, which was originally founded thousands of years ago by a chad dragonborn who later became the god talos, and is seen as the patron god of mankind (hence the dragon logo of the empire)
The problem is the empire lost the first war against the elves, and managed to avoid the complete extermination of mankind by signing a treaty, that included banning the worship of the god of war (in the skyrim universe, gods get stronger as you worship them, by banning the worship of the god, they hope to make humans weaker at war in the future, so that conquering and genociding them will become easier)
So basically, talos worship VERY GOOD, empire good, but the empire has to pretend they're following their treaty, less they rekindle the open war they are not currently in a state to win agains the thalmor, so they play a double game as best as they can, openly banning the worship of talos, while still trying to do everything they can to get stronger militarily, including secretely supporting talos worship, in a way that cannot be traced back to the empire
If the empire fails to defeat the thalmor army in the coming war, literally all humans in the elder scrolls universe will be slaughtered, so if you side with the snowcloaks, you've just genocided all nords (which they kinda deserve, since they're trying really hard to arrive to that result)
As for the people of the frontier frozen northern shithole province of skyrim, they have no idea what's going on, it's complete ooga booga city, everyone is dealing and focussed on completely irrelevant small local problems, no one is aware of the bigger picture, at best some people have a vague notion of a distant war witht he thalmors (and don't understand that if the empire loses the thalmor will come for them next and they have absolutely 0 chance of defeating them if that happens)
Talos IS the god of humanity and the god of the Empire, he is literally the ascended first emperor, talos was the one who created the empire and conquered tamriel
Stormcloaks are thalmor useful idiots, some of them are literal agents, they only exist to make exterminating mankind easier, and only the most clueless and brainless people, such as the nords of skyrim, and the average gamer, would support them
Ulfric Stormcloak himself, their leader, (the yarl in the throneroom) is an agent working for the thalmor (literally to exterminate all humans), he was captured by the thalmors/Aldmeri dominion, he then sided with them, told them all the important intelligence he knew, and agreed to become a 5th column against the humans, at which point he was released by the thalmors, his new masters, and at which point he created a faction to undermine the empire
So basically if you don't help the empire in skyrim, all humans are going to get killed, and if you side with the stormcloaks, you're a complete imbecile who just sided with a double agent who's mission it is to weaken mankind for a foreign non human empire that wants you dead
You had us in the first half not gonna lie.

I like to believe that since my playthroughs are often largely diplomatic playthroughs that years later the collective mindset is dabbled with once again
I won`t say for 100% sure, didn`t play F1 for 10 years, but i think Shady Sands didn`t have GECK. GECK was created in Fallout 2, and Cryptopolis looks much different than Shady Sands so GECK was only in 1 location.
It's been 10 years so I won't fault you but Shady Sands was definitely created by GECK and it is featured in the first Fallout game.
@@CapsFan117 GECK wasn`t even created in lore before Fallout 2. Can you say where and how ws it mentioned in F1 about using it in Shady Sands?
@@hubertignatowicz7879 They say in Fallout 2 that every vault has GECKs so its probably canon that Shady Sands was made with the GECK
@@spunkyfunkymonke Yes, they created and added GECK to lore in F2 for every Vault. But look how looks Cryptopolis in F2, created with GECK, and how look Shady Sands in F1. No way it was GECK. Especially, Shandy Sands was created by only 1 group from other groups from Vault 15, so other groups could take or even destroy GECK during split.
YOU ARE OUT OF UNIFORM SOLDIER. WHERE IS YOUR POWER ARMOR?!?
Fuck the NCR, fuck the Legion, money is my only friend, that's why House is the best ending

The NCR still offers the best quality of life in the wasteland, flaws and all. Long live the bear!

Love how the show has made NCR content more popular always found them interesting
So it's just the Roman Republic, exactly as Caesar said.
Out of the four factions in the Wasteland, House is the only faction that won’t likely collapse after the Battle of Hoover dam.
• Yes Man’s “faction” is weak and inexperienced, likely being overrun and destroyed by the NCR
• The NCR itself will die if it wins.
Not to mention that the ncr likely loses control of vegas anyway even if they win because of the destruction of shady sands
@@the_coveted_one2163 I'll not be treating the Fallout TV show as canon in this regard. I don't think anyone should.
@@Arkancide I don't think the *entire* show should be decanonized, but yeah the nuking of shady sands was NOT handled well at all
@@derpcade It kinda felt like Bethesda saying "Fuck you" to the success of New Vegas and the entire heritage of west coast Fallout in general. "Screw this pre-established history, we like Enclave vs. Brotherhood of Steel like we did in Fallout 3."
@@Arkancide understandable lmao
Laws and regulations made be led by a confused and mixed up beauracraucy but there is no better option.
The enclave should of won in fallout 2 or 3 John klaver the only power that are capable of taking the wasteland
@@elyg6531 The enclave is a small, fascistic organization hell pent on genocide. It seeks to eradicate the majority of the population in the wasteland and don't have the resources or manpower to control it. They are as doomed as the Brotherhood
House WITH the platinum chip would propably be a decent option as well. It gives him extra resources and reach in the Mojave.
What are you even talking about? You genuinely think that Mr house with his very large securitron army after receiving the platinum chip only cares about the strip? Yeah okay lmao.
@@gnomechild3248 there's no mention at all in his ending that he uses his army to do anything beneficial for the Mojave. House only cares about the Strip
