Daniel Stern (Marv) is terrified of spiders, and initially refused to have the spider anywhere near him. But he eventually told the director he would only do the "spider-scene" for one single take. His high-pitched scream is absolutely real.
@@christopherking4932 I read that Stern working with spider wrangler's Barry The Tarantula. Yes, tarantula's name is Barry. Prior to the scene, Stern had to get use to Barry. Stern didn't want to scare Barry because spider might bite him when he did his famous scream.
They initially told Daniel Stern they would be using a fake spider for the scene but at the last second, used the real one without letting Stern know. Great reaction you two... Macaulay Culkin's (Kevin McAllister) character was actually inspired by the character he played a year earlier in 'Uncle Buck', where he does very similar things & behaviors. In fact, it was John Hughes himself (who wrote both films and directed Uncle Buck) that suggested both Macaulay & John Candy for these parts in this film to director Chris Columbus. They asserted for years that the man is in the correct age range (Elvis would have been around 55 at the time), makes a head movement that Elvis frequently made during concerts, and that no record has ever been found about this particular actor's participation in the movie. The theory was finally debunked in 2018, when investigative journalists identified the extra as a man called Gary Richard Grott, who had passed away from a heart attack in February 2016. Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it! This film was one of my favorite growing up! I must insist that you check out Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and Home Alone 3; I know it’s a different character, but it’s just as good and hilarious! Also the 6th film Home Sweet Home Alone; it’s unique and pays tribute to the first 2 films and has Buzz in a cameo role. Hone Alone 3 focuses on a boy name Alex, who is left home alone when he is sick with the chickenpox as his parents are working, and his older siblings are in school. He must defend his home against four espionage agents who seem to have an interest in his new remote toy car. Home Alone 4 uses the characters Kevin again with Marv, but they are different actors in their respective roles and in this, I guess you can say alternate universe, Kevin’s parents are in the middle of a divorce, and this time he must not only go against Marv, but his wife, Vera. In Home Alone: The Holiday Heist aka Home Alone 5, a video game crazy kid named Finn and his family moved to a new house that is supposedly haunted and has to battle against three art thieves as well as rescue her sister, who is trapped in a secret room in the basement. 👦🏼👨🏻🦲👨🏻🦱👩🏻🦰👴🏻🎄🏠😱😈 🍕📺🛒🔫🪤🕷❤️💛💙
Seeing this movie in 1990 in a movie theater was awesome back then. The start of a new decade of music and movies. Christmas in the 1990s was a bit different than now the 1980s were even better.
Not only is Kevin the smartest 8 year old known to man, but those bandits have some kind of amazingly high tolerance for pain. Also, for anyone interested, there's a "Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal!" ugly Christmas sweater on sale somewhere online.
Some mentioned about late great John Candy. He was friend of John Hughes, screenwriter of Home Alone. John offered his services to Hughes below his pay rate as courtesy to his friend.
What's completely unbelievable to me is that either the neighbor or the cops that arrested the burglars had to have realized Kevin was home alone, and LEFT HIM THAT WAY???
A great reaction to a classic movie! One of the greatest child performances ever. And a fantastic Joe Pesci role...and for a complete opposite performance catch Joe in Goodfellas!
A lot of people miss Old Man Marley's injured hand... it heals as the movie goes on... bloody rag, to wrapped bandage, then they shake hands in church and it's got a plaster..... then to point at the end when he waves at Kevin, there's no plaster at all as he hugs his granddaughter..
Uncle Buck is a great John Candy film. I dare say Home Alone 2 is also pretty good and you should give it a watch. The rest of the Home Alone movies after that are not great and very campy. Happy Holidays!
John Candy recommendations: Uncle Buck, Only the Lonely, Summer Rental, and Who's Harry Crumb? All hilarious. Also watch him in movies in which he has smaller, supporting roles such as Stripes (starring Bill Murray and Harold Ramis), and Splash (starring Tom Hanks).
Thank you guys so much for reacting to this movie. Please react to Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992). Also other great John Candy movies are Stripes (1981), Heavy Metal (1981), National Lampoon's Vacation (1983), Splash (1984), Summer Rental (1985), Armed and Dangerous (1986), Spaceballs (1987), The Great Outdoors (1988), Uncle Buck (1989), Nothing but Trouble (1991), Only the Lonely (1991) and Cool Runnings (1993).
1-3 are absolutely worth watching. A lot of people don't like 3 but I love the new kid Alex. After that don't bother. The one room he didn't clean up was Buzz's. I figure the old man helped him set things right in the rest of the house. Uncle Buck is one John Candy and McCauley Culkin did together before Home Alone.
I doubt it. No responsible adult is going to save a kid from criminals, aid them in cleaning the house/scene of the crime, and then leave them to sleep alone in the house. Honestly though, it's a huge plot hole regardless. What did the guy do? Walk Kevin to his door and just say goodnight? He would have insisted on speaking with his parents. So the whole idea of the old man helping at the end is a big problem. What would have been a hilariously dark twist is if the old man really was a serial killer like Buzz said, killed Marv and Harry, and put their bodies in the trash can of salt!
@@nonconsensualopinion The man lives next door. He's not that far away that he can't keep an eye on Kevin from his house overnight now that he knows he's home alone.

Can’t wait to see you guys watch home alone 2.
If you pause this exactly at 22:46 Chandra and Harry are making the same face. LOL
Had fun watching this? Just wait till the second one.
My favorite John Candy movie is The Great Outdoors. After that would be Cool Runnings.
Seeing this movie in 1990 in a movie theater was awesome back then. The start of a new decade of music and movies. Christmas in the 1990s was a bit different than now the 1980s were even better.
PLEASE watch Home Alone 2!!!!! For more John Candy and Macaulay Culkin, definitely check out Uncle Buck!
Not only is Kevin the smartest 8 year old known to man, but those bandits have some kind of amazingly high tolerance for pain. Also, for anyone interested, there's a "Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal!" ugly Christmas sweater on sale somewhere online.
He finally got a star on the sidewalk in Hollywood
Great reaction. The 2nd one might be even better than the first, you should watch it!
Proof that slapstick isn't dead!
You guys need to react to the second one. The traps are even more brutal lol
If you notice that the woman counts herself twice, number 3 and 11
Just subscribed after seeing your Die Hard reaction. Good to see a couple fellow Canadians. Looking forward to watching some more reactions with you.
Christine , I pull for Christine every time
Some mentioned about late great John Candy.
Hope you two are having an great and awesome day ❤
A great reaction to a classic movie! One of the greatest child performances ever. And a fantastic Joe Pesci role...and for a complete opposite performance catch Joe in Goodfellas!
Oooo I just looked at the poster for Goodfellas... it looks so serious!
you guys would love it!
@@maplenutsreact
Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern are legends😂😂😂
A lot of people miss Old Man Marley's injured hand... it heals as the movie goes on... bloody rag, to wrapped bandage, then they shake hands in church and it's got a plaster..... then to point at the end when he waves at Kevin, there's no plaster at all as he hugs his granddaughter..
Y'all have become my favorite reactors! Definitely watch the second film! In some ways it's even better!
For those who don’t know Macaulay Culkin just recently won the Hollywood Hall of Fame
"The Good Son," released in 1993, thriller, drama horror film. actors Macaulay Culkin, Elijah Wood, and Wendy Crewson.
John Candy is in National Lampoons Vacation, Uncle Buck, The Great Outdoors, Spaceballs, and many more.
Great editing, guys, every special scene or action. Great reaction!!! Happy Christmas! John Candy movies: "Spaceballs", "Brewster's Millions".
Thank you so much! And Happy Christmas to you as well! ❤❤❤
@@maplenutsreact Can you guys react to Home Alone 2 (Lost in New York). It's even way funnier than Home Alone one but that's just my opinion.
Now It's Christmas, You've Done A Reaction To One Of My All Time Favorite Movie's & Always Love Seeing Your Reactions

New to your channel... loving it! As for more John Candy... Uncle Buck is a must see!
Great outdoors, uncle buck are my favorite john candy movies
Thank you guys so much for reacting to this movie. Please react to Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992). Also other great John Candy movies are Stripes (1981), Heavy Metal (1981), National Lampoon's Vacation (1983), Splash (1984), Summer Rental (1985), Armed and Dangerous (1986), Spaceballs (1987), The Great Outdoors (1988), Uncle Buck (1989), Nothing but Trouble (1991), Only the Lonely (1991) and Cool Runnings (1993).
Funny when the plastic bags he gets break. I double bag my groceries when I use plastic bags but then again I have my own portable cart.
Great reaction guys to a christmas classic so enjoyable bring back memories great reaction
Aww thank you! ❤❤❤

If you notice, the cut on the old man's hand coincides with his relationship with his son. When it's repaired, the cut is totally healed.
Great film! Kevin is a talented trapmaker, so inventive. Some great heart in this movie too. Great reaction guys 👍
Thank you so much!!
Great reaction
Another reactor pointed out the person who did the music for home alone was also the person did the score for Harry Potter 😮 12:37
Yes we all know who John Williams is. He’s the most famous movie composer of all time
I didn’t know. Rather than putting someone down, consider being excited someone else understands.
@@alisong826 I apologize for being passive aggressive
Some notable John Candy movies are The great Outdoors, Uncle Buck and Summer Rental
Just watched this movie 4 days ago and maybe a little something to get you guys rolling: when watching the booby trap scene, my mom said she was laughing SO HARD that she thought she was going to *pee* her pants! 🤣🤣
