What if: Anakin joins the Separatist Alliance? Dooku's big message was that the Core didn't care about the Rim. He's also the man that trained Qui-Gon. Anakin would be like the better version of Grevious imo, but what do you think, Lore Guy?
The empire was overconfident and always played into the Rebel Alliances hand, great military leaders are always unorthodox and unconventional, War is never proper nor conventional.
The Romans had also learnt that the hard way. Maybe if the Empire had some kind of special ops or something. Not big, hulking death troopers, but small, nimble and secretive soldiers. Something like the A-Team, of course in larger numbers. However, that would be a contradiction to the Empire's belief in numbers. Most likely, Vader was more of a military leader, because he had collected some experience as Anakin Skywalker. And maybe he was so quick at killing officers, because he always secretly searched for another Captain Rex?
Here's a Star Wars Rethink idea: if the Empire never built either Death Star. What would have happened if the Empire had invested all the credits, resources, manpower and such into other things, like Thrawn's fighter project, or maybe just saved those funds and such? Also, how differently might the Empire's military strategy be without the Death Star, for example how would they have approached the Battle of Yavin?
Hey mate I was thinking on maybe you could do a video if the empire didn't drop in qaulity after the clone wars like basically they kept the clone troopers, clone trooper armour, weapons such as DC-15A Blaster Rifles,DC-15S Blaster Carbine, Z-6 rotary blaster cannons and DC-17 hand blaster pistols that the clones used and keeping troop transport vehicles like the AT-TE Walkers, LAAT Clone Gunships and Capital Ships and Star Fighters Like the Venator Class Star Destroyers and The Arc 17 Star Figthers Star Wars:Rethink
I think another issue facing the replacement of the Imperials is that there's not just very limited people who could replace the competent high level leaders it's that every single officer would start kissing every ass, calling in every favor, and doing every dirty trick to get that new spot. Not just because of power that position would give but the sense of security hat would come with filling that spot. Less likely for an admiral or general to be given the "honor" of leading a frontal assault than a colonel. It wouldn't just be the hopefuls, it would be the other high ranking officers hoping to shore up their own security in their spots by gaining new buddies in high-ish places as well as maybe a chance at launching a coup. This political maneuvering would take the place of military competence, and it has happened in real life. It's why so many military people don't want to get involved in politics as it would force the military to develop political aptitudes which could take away from the various other skills needed by the military.
You see this in a lot of poor militaries to this day. But for a historical look check out the officers of WW1. Largely political posturing get them their positione with little experience, poor adaptability and dire consequences.
@@ChaostheClown Yeah and combine incompetent officers with a guerilla war and you have a recipe for disaster. Then there's the petty intrigues. Let's say a general didn't promote a colleague's nephew to the rank of captain, then said colleague finds out that there's a rebel force about to bomb a barracks under said colleague's command and doesn't warn him. That's a best case scenario. The thing is with the "royal favorites" is that when there's more than one favority they start fighting like prized bitches. Honestly I'd think that women of the harems of Imperial China and the Ottoman empire would either look at the squabling within the Imperial military with a mixture of admiration, horror and envy for how low and cruel they acted. This only made the issue of dealing with an insurgency like the Rebellion even more difficult as there likely would be little to no cooperation or coordination. Terror can work as a weapon, Tarkin certainly used it well but to ensure it works he who utilizes it must be able to back up ruthlessness with an appearance of invulnerability. Every single loss suffered by the Empire meant that invincibility was a mask. Now a skilled counter-insurgent commander would apply terror with kindness, and division. The Empire tried to divide, hence it's anti-alien stance but that wasn't enough. As for kindness it was hardly used and often times cruelty trickled down from the higher ranks to those below them and I'd imagine that with the cut-throat nature of the office politics within the Imperial military I'd imagine the generals and admirals would shift the blame onto the officers under them when they fucked up, and the officers would then try to shift the blame to someone under them. Beatings ensue on officer to NCO, and NCO to trooper. This would create a nightmare scenario for trying to endear civilians to an occupying force. A horrifying example of this would be the IJA. So not only did the Empire have a guerilla war to fight, one of the most difficult kinds wars to fight, but they also had incompetent generals and strife within their own ranks. Then there's the issue of Rebel sympathizers within Imperial ranks. While Imperial Intelligence would look out for them there bound to be a few who got through the cracks and there would be defections. However, more damaging than defections would be officers who used their authority to sabotage Imperial efforts. An example that comes to mind Phạm Ngọc Thảo who was supposed to oversee the Strategic Hamlet program in South Korea, only for the colonel to have been a sleeper agent for the VC, allowing VC to establish their links again in these hamlets and likely put in corrupt officers to inflame disdain towards the ARVN. Throw in little to no separation between military and civillian power and many of these commanders would often times have a thousand and one things going on. During times of emergency martial law and the military assuming more roles can be justified and make things easier. But a military dictatorship like the Empire would mean that the admirals, generals, and moffs weren't just supplying their armies and fleets but also had to oversee the collection of taxes, famine relief, pensions, veteran aid, education, and the million-and-one other things militaries were never meant to handle. Think of all the shit a planet wide administration would have to go through just to make sure it doesn't cave in. Now add in millions of men, expensive-as-fuck hardware that constantly needs to be replaced and repaired, and several more planets and frankly anyone with an IQ less than that of 200 would go insane after a few hours if they're trying to do their job as intended.
The real reason the Empire collapsed is because, after the Emperor was killed, the various factions could not collaborate in a cohesive fashion. So the centralized Empire broke down into a plethora of powerful, but competing warlords. Ysanne Isard eventually consolidated power at the galactic capital Coruscant, but then she foolishly let it fall to the rebels. Letting Coruscant fall was supposedly part of her grand strategy. However, that may have just been an excuse as she could not mobilize enough Imperial warships to defend it. Once the New Republic took Coruscant, they gained recognition as the legitimate government. It took nearly 20 years, but the New Republic was able to whittle down the individuall warlord domains until the Imperial remnant was a small fraction of its former self.
My view is that the basic solider and.....'Sailor'? In the Empire couldn't and was not trained to think independently and in a 'modern' military that is very important. The clones Troopers for example may have been breed to follow orders, however, could in combat think for themselves. We rarely, if ever, see that in the Empire. The other problem with the Empire is the Emperor himself. He placed himself at the head of everything or at least made it look like he did and didn't allow military commanders to do their jobs. Yes, Tarkin did decide to destroy Alderran, however, Palpatine being the Emperor, placing himself at that position, made every decision made by others 'his' fault. He couldn't say Tarkin acted on his own accord, that would show that the Emperor couldn't command his own military. He couldn't say that the destruction was justified as the world had Rebels, what about the loyal Imperials killed and simple 'tourist' that home worlds will rethink on the Empire and side with the Rebellion? And even 'if' the entire world was against the Empire, then why destroy an economic powerhouse and symbol of good that Alderran was known for? Why not just send in that massive military the people paid for through taxes? Next flaw were the brutal commanders and in this case Vader and Tarkin. Both scorned so many and prevented others from achieving the ranks they would have been good at. Vader particularly killed top ranking officers that were simply doing their job. I've mentioned this before but Hoth is a good example of this. The Admiral that took the Imperial fleet out of hyperspace probably realized that they only had few scans of the Rebel base and the probe droid wasn't reporting back, yes they knew of the shield generator but what of the ion cannon? In my view the Imperial fleet didn't otherwise that one star destroyer wouldn't have been in range of it. Now imagine if the Imperial fleet did jump out of hyperspace within rage of the ion cannon and it targeted and destroyed the Super star destroyer? That would have been a tactical, moral destroying nightmare. But no, Vader didn't listen as too why the Admiral took the fleet out of hyperspace and killed him and then Needa for once again, doing their jobs. This would have caused others to not seek out promotions and even consider joining the Rebellion if not simply abandoning their post if a promotion did come and Vader was around.
Yep, this is why the destruction of the Death Star was the beginning of the end, most capable Imperial Commanders and Generals were dead and couldn’t be replaced with anybody capable. The yes men and boot lickers were incompetent and costed the Entire Empire.
Two decided different deaths for the Empire in Star Wars. In Legends it fell apart because the warlords after Sidious' death was more worried about killing each other than holding the Empire together. They wasted their resources fighting over a throne that was already lost. In Canon, it was because Sidious planned on the Empire's death, Operation Cinder and the Contingency that followed it broke the Empire's back, despite the advantages they still had after Endor.
This is very crucial, this is like the number 1 reason the empire fell. Imagine a good empire though, where they didnt have this problem and cooperated. Could be great.
Hey Lore Guy, recently a idea popped into my head that you might be able to do a video on. Were there any groups of light side wielders that joined up with majority dark side factions like the empire or confederacy?
Another good vide, could you do another video involving sith empire! Similar to your sith empir returning during the clone wars. But instead of clone wars the sith empire returning from either galatic empire or perhaps after the fall of the galatic empire. Friend and I got into discussion of the sith returning to the galaxy and remembered your old videos about the subject.
Star Wars Rethink: What if Order 66 accidentally got activated far too early. Maybe shortly after the war is underway there is a bug in the inhibitor chip and/or its programming, and something goes horribly wrong. How might this Order 66 go with more Jedi and less clones, and Palpatine did not plan for this? How might this impact the war? What would this mean for Palpatine and the Sith's Grand Plan?
The empire's biggest flaw was how it dealt with failure to meet expectations. The punishment for failure being extremely high, increases the likelihood that people in charge will cover it up, blame subordinates, and generally create distrust with in their own ranks. Also expectations will be either too high or too low will create inefficiencies with in the imperail system. Innovation requires failure. Changing, and adapting, requires to recognize problems. WWI: US had a sniper program. WWII: US Had to start from scratch again. WWII: Mark 14 Torpedo- refused to recognize the problem, until late in the war. Vietnam War: Refused to train fighter pilots in dog fighting, until late in the war. Refused to have different types of fighter jets to dog fight. Refused to assign leadership positions in air groups based off of skill. Recognizing and adapting requires failure. Failure teaches, smart people learn from small failures. Dumb people only learn, or never learn from big failures.
The best and most efficient way for the Empire to survive is forming its own Janissaries Corps instead of those incapable and ineffective Stormtroopers. Well, they can coexist but it is going to be very obvious for the Stormtroopers eventually that they're being treated as nothing but cannon fodders while the Janissaries are the ones who take the credits of the battles. And the Janissaries, in a sense, are slaves, the Empire would have no problem of having them in their ranks, especially if they've been trained to be completely loyal to the Emperor since they were kids. And due to that they're made up of slaves, it would be quite usual that the Janissaries would have been made up of aliens along with some humans. This action will decrease the tension between the humans and aliens within the Empire if the aliens see that there is an imperial military corp where aliens and humans are actually working side by side with one another. Also, the Janissaries are considered the pride and joy of the entire imperial military due to the Emperor are having great trust toward them. And once the officers of the Janissaries Corps are retired, they can also become the powerful governors and influential politicians within the Empire, some can even become the viziers and stay close with the Emperor's sides. So if the Galactic Empire's military has the same structure like that of the Ottoman Empire, where its infantrymen are made up of the Janissarie Corps with various backgrounds, the Galactic Empire will always have those higher-ups in ready to fill the gaps. And with the highly advanced technologies that already existed in Star Wars, it is definitely out of question for the Empire to fall behind when it comes to advancement in technologies like the Ottomans. And here's my Star Wars Rethink: What if the Rebels Alliance didn't become the New Republic?
Could a redeemed Vader/Anakin Skywalker, that survived the events of Return of the Jedi, have taken the throne and prevented the fracturing that occurred after?
Could have been possible that the Empire should’ve instead built Social Security programs or welfare programs to help underprivileged planets one of the things that made the Empire popular in the beginning in both legends and canon was that some plants that were complying with the empire we’re allowed to run their affairs while having nominal imperial support for building our planets internally Vardos and Naboo are shining examples of this
