Finally someone who knows who Lee Kerslake is and that he drummed on the 1st two Ozzy Albums.Great drumming by you I enjoyed it.
So nice to see the mention of Lee. Very underrated player, in my opinion. His playing on those first two Ozzy albums is simply a bench mark for heavy rock drumming. It’s like he was playing along to what Randy was doing. Also, the sound of the drums, especially on the Diary Album is phenomenal. Such a great production and mix. You can hear everything. That being said, I am glad that Tommy did not imitate Lees parts, he kept the basic beats but made the songs his own. RIP Lee, you were a master of your craft.
Best sounding kit on TH-cam!
You were my first private instructor at MI in 2015, you taught me a lot during my first quarter. Im happy to be able to learn from you on the inter-webs! Thank you and rock on! 🤘🏽
It's so satisfying seeing the fill being played with the song after being dissected!
Thank you for acknowledging Lee Kerslake‘s contribution!👍
Great demonstration, great playing, and good lord the sound quality is INSANE IN HEADPHONES!!!🤯🤯🤯🤯
Tommy is like, I can't believe you notated my shit. I just felt it.
Such a great lesson! Thank you! Would love to hear some Pat Torpey licks broken down like this.
Nicely done. Cool licks
As much as I love Lee Kerslake and his original version of this song, something about Tommy's live version always stuck out to me. Seeing him play it on that live taping always made me eager to mix it up every time I played it, and the version off of "Tribute" is no different. The cymbal muting, changing the 16ths on the hihat to 8ths, and those insane tom fills always blew my mind! What an outstanding drummer. Thank you for the excellent lesson and the free PDF!
Thats pretty cool. Thanks!
Excellent lesson! Thanks for breaking down that Tommy Aldridge feel on the fill. It’s always tough to slow the song down and decipher the order of the toms.
That’s sooooo Tommy. A truly rock and roll legend. To me, his most inspiring performance is in crying in the rain, Whitesnake!
I always love Tommies fills you need to do crash and burn
Great lesson. I’m a single pedal guy. Going to woodshed this right now.
This lesson was great, thank you!
That’s awesome!!
As far as I know, Lee Kerslake was a single-bass drummer. It would be cool to have some extra insight on his iconic fills in either "Crazy Train", or "Over The Mountain". I am talking about fills in the "I know that things are going wrong for me..." section, the ones that sound like quadruplets on a double-bass set, becoming the beat ....(also in the fade-out)....and also the opening fill on "Over The Mountain"
Maestro Jeff!!!!!!! love u brother & thanx for ur educational books, use them for my students & myself all the time!!!!!!
