Not sure, cause I haven’t seen the full episode. But my only guess is that they mentioned she has a family history of arthritis and gold is an uncommon aid for that. So maybe she had arthritis??
I believe she was crushing pills and sprinkling them into his food. But as for her, she washes her hands before she eats. I dont think its a gold solution. @@jonathantio7531 I see. I understand now. She wouldn't get the poisoning because she was not ingesting the gold sodium thiomalate (which I mistakenly thought was absorbed through the skin) but rather, it was present in her hands because she touched it to sprinkle onto husband's food. I've only been watching shorts of the show, but it's getting old how the colleagues keep on dismissing house despite him being right all the time. Is there an episode where he's wrong and actually eats humble pie?
While I believe the team should be giving house the benefit of the doubt. Instead of insisting on their own diagnoses, They should offer different ways to disprove his theory. Like completely ruling out heavy metal poisoning completely since house was adamant on it. Just run all known heavy metal tests, even the uncommon unusual metals. Completely forcing house to give up on his diagnosis instead of just puffing out their chest and proceeding with their own treatments or doing tests to find new leads with their boss annoying them the whole time. Oh well, its a show and it was written this way for the entertainment value.
Well, House wouldn't be able to solve these cases without his team. They may not be as brilliant as him, but it's the exchange of ideas that lead them to the eventual diagnosis.
You may hate the fact, but what House wants is a team that argues with him. Often to begin with House is wrong. The last thing he wants is a team who agree with everything he says. That's no use to him at all.
Metallic gold is safe for humans consumption most of the time. Only compounds can be toxic. Note most of the time. But then again nothing we consume is safe all the time.

I think he specifically wanted a team that would not just agree with him. In a lot of instances his initial diagnosis is wrong and thanks to the team's differing views they get figure out the real problem.
Well we know she said she didn't want him dead. Either it's a couple reasons either she wanted the attention, she wanted him to need her , or if I remember correctly they mention he like to have lots of sex. Then she might want to stop him from wanting to do that.
Because gold is such a precious metal and so dang expensive that only a diabolical genius with money and access would use it. And a standard heavy metal tox screen does not screen for 30 heavy metals, some of which are super rare, others of which are too precious to be put on the test panel. They're in a hospital - you want to keep her in the room, tell her there's just been an incident, and they've had to quickly close off an area for quarantine. Route to the bathroom goes right through it. They can get her out, but it'll take a little while to arrange safely...
Or, simply call security and tell them to keep her in another location. If she's suspected of poisoning her husband, you generally wouldn't leave her free in his room.
@@stargazer7644 I wasn't too clear, but I think my meaning was that they'd delay her in the room under supervision until security arrives. Basically House wanted to ensure she didn't just leave, which she did, because they couldn't think of a way to stop her. Fake quarantine was what they needed. Though agreed, she needs to be supervised.
But that would be obvious and make the doctors suspicious, by doing it how she did it she was able to apply the poison whether a doctor was in the room or not. If it wasn't for House she'd have most likely gotten away with it, everyone else was incensed by his accusations.
If i was her partner i would be terrified Not because she tried to kill me But bc of the very specific and almost invisible way to kill me. I would also be impressed. Like, how'd u come up with that???
It's probably and partially for keeping the drama, but bugs me that the team sees these kind of stuff eventually revealed by House, and yet opposes him and his opinion in the next episode

Typing this without any research so bring your bag ls salt.
Gold sodium thiomalate is usually a serum you inject into muscle for arthritis. Idk how it got onto her fingers
@@jonathantio7531 I see. I understand now. She put gold sodium thiomalate into her husband's food which remained in her hands but when she goes to the washroom, she would wash her hands thus proof that she was the one who "poisoned" her husband's food would be gone (before House had a chance to test her hands for evidence - thus he didn't want her washing her hands).
She wouldn't get the poisoning because she was not ingesting the gold sodium thiomalate (which I mistakenly thought was absorbed through the skin) but rather, it was present in her hands because she touched it to sprinkle onto husband's food.
Now onto my next question... isn't it expensive to poison someone by gold?
@@bernardsoh3559depends upon the amount. gold sodium thiomalate is a treatment for arthritis that is injected. about 500 dollars per dose.
the other medicine that has gold is an oral medication Gold Salts which is also used to treat arthritis also about 500 bucks
Yes it would be expensive but it wouldn't be something the police would investigate because no one would think of it. its a rare allergy and the idea of someone using a portion of their expensive med that had gold wouldn't cross the minds of people. odds are no autopsy would either be done or tests for heavy metals wouldn't be done if an autopsy was conducted
He consumed it she never physically put the gold inside her immune system just on her hands
Watching them piece it together never gets old
be careful who you fall in love with they might love you to death poisoning you alive
I've only been watching shorts of the show, but it's getting old how the colleagues keep on dismissing house despite him being right all the time.
Is there an episode where he's wrong and actually eats humble pie?
What I hate is how house team argues with him over the cause of illness when he's right all along
Better than being surrounded by sycophants I suppose.
House needs the arguing because the arguing FORCES him to be right
While I believe the team should be giving house the benefit of the doubt.
1:28 “ok, I say we stop the DDX and discuss THAT comment!”
And they never did!
Metallic gold is safe for humans consumption most of the time. Only compounds can be toxic. Note most of the time. But then again nothing we consume is safe all the time.
I mean it was a gold compound sprinkled (gold sodium thiomolate I think)
Yes but consumption of too much gold leads to poisonous symptoms.
Consuming too much potassium can also lead to poisoning of the body.
@@enderfox1699 yes, consumption of too much everything kills you. Consumption of too much water drowns you too.
@@mosstdev Correct, it was even mentioned in the clip.
Spousal poisoning case irl are very rarely not cruel. It seems like seeing their husband's (and it's statistically more common with male/ female marriages with no kids in house) suffering is the point. Makes for interesting case studies.
She's so in love she likes having him all to herself.
It almost seems like a delusional belief or even full blown psychosis. She seems to believe she loves him (even while caught in the act so to speak), and yet continues trying to kill him. That’s the one thing about this episode I didn’t like. They never offered any credible theories about why she acted like this. House being Holmes, now has to call his version of Lestrade to have him arrest her.
“Some paranoid theory” the writing is all over the place and goes fast
House needed a better team, someone who could put more trust in him instead of shoving off his ideas which could've just helped the patients heal faster
I think he specifically wanted a team that would not just agree with him. In a lot of instances his initial diagnosis is wrong and thanks to the team's differing views they get figure out the real problem.
Exactky. In a later season he dismisses a candidate doctor because that canditate is basically a copy of House
totally
His team is the only reason house figures anything out. If they arent around to make him think he would kill half his patients
Disagree. Even if he's intelligent, he needs people who will objectively challenge his diagnosis; whether he's right or not.
You know, I still don't fully understand why she poisoned him with the gold 😭
They didn't reveal it in the show and when you get right down to it...they are doctors. Not cops or lawyers. It doesn't matter.
That's why dude's heavy metals tests were negative.

Just something about Cameron showing shock and disappointment after House was right… I love it when she gets proven wrong.
Agreed. She's much too naive and self-righteous that its fun when she gets proven wrong again and again. Same with Masters.
Cameron is a wooly baa lamb, that's her main failing working in the department she does. She showed shock and disappointment when she realised what the wife was doing to the husband, not because House was right.
this one reminded me of that episode they had in forensic files where the wife was slowly poisoning her husband with rat poison to get his money when he dies. she'd put it and mix it in his drinks and other stuff iirc
Quite a few people use thallium-based rat poisons as their means to an end. From what I understand it is a very uncomfortable way to go and I would not be surprised if it has been discontinued as a poison since it is so dang toxic!

It always bugged me how the can go, get into someone's house and search it. They are Doctors, not Law Enforcement with a search Warrant
They know it's illegal
It's a TV programme!
House literally built his team so that they would break into houses.
Do you even watch the show
He specifically chooses his team based on people who will look the other way about unethical behavior if the ultimate goal of saving a life can be achieved. They all know it’s illegal and each doctor has their own personal reason for why they follow along anyway. It’s part of the storyline in early seasons. House is notorious for not following rules or laws but he’s so damn good at his job that the other doctors and Cuddy accept it.
They can’t legally do it. It’s just for the show
This happened in “Threat Level Midnight”
Haven't watched House in years, so it's hilarious and comforting to come back to "It's the only explanation!" and "It's not lupus!"
This one has been uploaded before or maybe I’m thinking of the other channel. Either way great ep. This actress is always great at portraying bad characters.
House literally flushes out a murderer.
I mean at least you would think to wear gloves for putting gold in your husbands food
But that would be obvious and make the doctors suspicious, by doing it how she did it she was able to apply the poison whether a doctor was in the room or not. If it wasn't for House she'd have most likely gotten away with it, everyone else was incensed by his accusations.
Wearing gloves is a bit of a giveaway.
