It's odd how House's objectivity and coldness actually allows him to empathise the most with the prisoner. The rest are so quick to judge him while House still treats him like a patient who deserves a proper standard of medical care.

@@djoakeydoakey1076 antifreeze is propylene glycol and/or ethylene glycol(source: monarch chemicals, UK chemical supplier), so not quite the same as methanol, although the metabolites (the product formed from the breakdown of antifreeze) are the main issue here as it is for methanol.
Antifreeze is metabolized into oxalate (Source: CDC), which will bind to Ca2+ forming Calcium oxalate, which is not very water soluble(source: Wikipedia). The calcium oxalate then deposits within the bloodstream, which can easily lead to death or irreversible damage.
Calcium oxalate is the same salt as kidney stones, so definitely not pleasant to have within your system. Giving a patient ethanol would improve his outcome as antifreeze is metabolized by the same enzymes as ethanol, thus ethanol would compete with antifreeze, which then reduces the rate of oxalate formation(Source: PubMed).

    Absolutely beautiful acting here
To be honest, House is a masterclass on how to get it right in terms of writing and acting. I can't think of a single scene or episode where writing and acting fell short. Props to anyone who worked on this, from camera to make-up; just total brilliance, somehow they got the stars to allign for 8 seasons to produce nothing but distilled genius in visagerie, camerawork and lighting, acting, writing.

There were several scenes with that short asian intern character in season 8, the actor for her didn't seem all that good. Also, there are a few scenes where house is absolutely obnoxious when the topic of parenthood or religion came up. Not just the character's usual obnoxiousness, but rather the show and the writing itself felt obnoxious.

@@mitchellcooper8103 The grammatically correct spelling is "It's a show," not "ITS A SHOW." The first one means "it is" and the second, the one you used, is the possessive form. If you're going to try and troll someone, you may as well try not to sound like a dunce, Captain Obvious.

So House gets his life threatened by a crazy strong guy. House then saves the life of the guy who wanted to kill him and then they both laugh about it at the ICU unit seconds away from death, they pause to drink whiskey and talk about old times. Hahahahahahhahahahha. Great writing. This show is awesome.

In hindsight, knowing House is suicidal the whole time. Its makes very logical sense for him to actually relate to someone on death row. Maybe he was so comfortable to have real conversation and drink with a murderer is because House saw him as he was currently. Not as he was.
