    I've been a customer of SafetyWing for a few years now - I had to make a claim once and the whole process was super smooth, highly recommend them! They paid for my visit to the best private hospital in Portugal :)

      @@Chai_Travel yeah I just had this weird paranoia that something’s wrong with me after the 3rd Moderna shot… to the point that my brain started causing physical symptoms like shortness of breath. They did a ton of detailed diagnostics on my entire body and as soon as all the reports came back saying everything’s perfect, all the symptoms disappeared immediately 55555 our minds are powerful!
      Pretty cool experience looking back at it, I’ve never seen my heart valves in 3D before 💓

    There's a strong connection between acting sensibly and responsibly when it comes to safety. Driving vehicles or riding motorcycles is probably the most dangerous activity in Thailand due to the unpredictable hazards. I thank the traffic gods for looking after me so well last 8 years. Always insured. Great topic Champ.

    Interesting topic Chai and it had me thinking about my travels to Thailand over the years. On one trip and staying around the family farm in Lukkae Thailand I went to a local party, got pretty drunk on a mix of beer and the local cheap Thai whisky called Lao Khao. We had loud music happening and I was jumping and dancing around playing my invisible guitar 😂 and a stray dog bit my leg. I had no insurance whatsoever and a deep cut. They stuck me in the back of the village morgue truck and, siren blaring raced me off to hospital. Treated in Banpong Hospital for a very small fee (stitches and a tetanus shot). I guess that must be the difference between attending the big city hospitals and those further out in the rural areas. I'm guessing though breaking a limb would be a different situation and financial outcome, so yes, Travel Insurance a very good idea when travelling overseas. Stay CHAMP 🤩

    People these days seem to be fixated on insurance. Personally, I never even considered it and looking back it seems that I have saved a huge amount of money by not paying for insurance. Some people need it and use it, I guess, but I think I have a different mindset where I claim responsibility for whatever happens in my life. Very seldom have I had any medical expenses in Thailand and the out of pocket cost was very affordable in my opinion. I have only lived here for 46 years but so far so good.

    • @Chai_Travel
      @Chai_Travel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Gotcha :) I figured as well that medicines like painkillers are very affordable and luckily I’ve also never needed any serious medical care. I think personally it’s a good thing to have but I see why you choose not to get insurance too 🙏 thanks for your input 🏆 cheers

    You are super smart to start doing affiliate links like this. I bet you will keep the affiliate link in the description for all you videos, just in case it catches someone's eyes. You raise a great point. We all say how safe Thailand is re crime, but the roads are super hazardous, and as you say, even walking is risky. Not only are there constantly holes in the sidewalk or a portion significantly higher to trip you if you are not looking down, but you have to constantly step into the street (at least in Chiang Mai where I am most experienced) because something, or a merchant, is blocking it. And if the traffic is coming from you at your back, it takes a lot of faith that someone will not run into you. I was surprised you and one interviewee said medical care is expensive in Thailand. Really, $6,000 for a broken arm? That sounds super high for Thailand, even for a private hospital. Safe travels, amigo.

    • @Chai_Travel

      @@Chai_Travel it’s all a bit of a mystery. I’ll find out later today where I went. It was my Thai friends who took me so I’ll ask them. Maybe that’s why I was allowed to leave before payment. The hospital know where I’m staying. I’ll have to wait and see I guess.

    Don't you have to pay fully up front before sending the bill to SafetyWing? If so, that's not ideal for serious medical emergencies (ex. motorbike accident) for say a $50000+ bill.

    • @Chai_Travel
      @Chai_Travel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question! I’ve just checked with the team of SafetyWing. In normal cases you would have to pay upfront but, in cases of emergency you’ll be able to contact them on the chat with pretty much an immediate response. They will able to help you out in case of emergency. They will be able to arrange direct payment in a lot of cases of emergency. So you don’t need to worry you have to pay a 60.000usd fee after your treatment leaving the hospital. You do have a $250.- access fee but that’s all as far I could find out :) I’m a little busy myself but if you have any other questions I’ll definitely able to give you clear answers it may only take a few days to get back to you 😊 thanks for watching 🏆

    I'm the best motorbike driver in the world and even I recommmend wearing helmet. Neurological impairments are nothing to joke around with. Invest in a good helmet which can inflate if you fall of the bike. I remembered and never forget a middle eastern gal young of age that was afraid and calling for her mommy at a neurological unit in Sweden. That's a call no one should be needed to take. Just saying...
