I love his videos. His son Ethan is a hoot. He went to a trade school (after graduating from high school) so he would be in the family business. , and he looks like Hank Williams Jr. (long hair), wears what looks like a regular cowboy hat .. In fact it is a hardhat .. kinda cool. When I first saw him like that, I put my head in hands and thot Oh, boy! But I don't think his Dad cares as long as he works and knows what he is doing, or learning. I didn't recognize him at first. Ron's Dad died very suddenly from Cd. (I hate the word.) He went to the hospital, on Drs. recommendation. Expected to be home in a day or two, but died. Ron was devastated. Great family .. no swearing (which I love) Hard working, not living off the gov't.
Congratz to Ethan on his C class, makes me realise how long I been watching you Ron, also cheers for slingin this one Ike's way brother, he's a good man. Blessings to you and yours from Australia.
Ron has to let go of the wheel at some stage. Better to do it incrementally rather than overight. When Ron decideds to semi-retire, I hope he gives Ethan (or whoever it is in the family) plenty of time to smoothly transition operations.
He definitely is not qualified to driver my brother was an 18 wheeler most of his life and I saw him put them places pretty darn small. He use to say if you knew what was driving trucks out there it would scare you to death.
Unfortunately one of many predicaments for a shorts and flip-flop wearing modern-day truck driver. Good job getting him out and hopefully he learned something.
Truckers nowadays don't care how they clothe themselves. I always wore jeans and some decent shirt. I did not want to expose my hairy legs to the rest of the world.
Mr E. Learn as much as you can no matter how long it will take. You still will make errors. That's all in the learning experience. You're learning from a 🏆. B SAFE
Ron, I'm sure you see yourself in Ethan...! It's amazing to see the Father & Son relationship... Wow Ethan driving and Dad riding... Thinking about Grandpa during these times... 🦅He's watching over you both... Good video guys...!
It sounded like he didn't even know the hood was broken. Unless something happened when he fell off the edge of the scale, which could be possible if the truck was tweaked a little, he never opens his hood, which means he doesn't do a proper pretrip. 🙄
Hi Ron I bet you are loving working with Ethan. Nothing like father and son combo. We’ve been lucky enough to have our son home on leave for 3 weeks and he’s returning to base on the weekend which is extremely close to the first anniversary of my father’s passing and I believe very soon is the first anniversary of your father’s passing so please our deepest condolences and how time flies. Keep safe my friend
Yes, I'm Blessed that he chose to work with us. Right now he is doing very well and is excited about what he is learning and doing. Glad you are getting to spend time with your son. Yes, my dad's anniversary is coming soon.....November 9th. One year....it doesn't seem possible does it my friend? So many things have changed in the last year. It has been difficult for me as I'm sure it has been for you. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. God bless. p.s. I made you a Moderator of my channel. You don't have to participate, but I trust you enough to grant you that.
As a retired truck driver. This is crazy. A new driver mistake. Seen it on bonehead truckers first. So I came over here to watch it all. Love your videos
this video is the true meaning of what i call the circle of life WAY WAY WAY back in the past it was ron and his dad going out to DO a job together NOW it is ron and his son going out and doing a job TOGETHER i am so happy that they get to do this
Taking the before & after pics doesn't reduce the chances of getting sued for damages, it just significantly reduces the chances of LOSING those Lawsuits...
can't imagine the drive space he must have to keep all the photos/videos for however long he keeps them... we only see the edited versions, not the full thing... i'm guessing cloud storage to the moon
it feels weird watching this video today as i just met up with you guys yesterday. Thanks again for your time to talk to me. Hope the Stroopwafels were tasty ;-)
Mr. Ron, I either watch too many of your videos or I have learned a lot watching your videos. Today my truck just quit moving, don’t know yet. But I knew what I needed in order to get my truck back onto the trailer. Went and got 50’ of cable and a snatch block. Used my bothers truck to pull the tractor on the trailer. Thanks for the videos. God bless y’all and have a good Labor Day weekend
Congratulations to Ethan on getting his Class A CDL premit hard to believe how far he has come, just seems like yesterday he was standing beside you as you pulled a driver out of a place trying to turn around, Happy Labor Day Weekend Ron, hope you your family and the Midwest Crew have a fantastic Labor day weekend and stay safe
I usually watch recovery videos and find ten things I think they should have done differently, but watching this video I saw a great experienced recovery operation that was text book correct ! I’m going to watch more from this guy
Way to go Ethan...you are learning from one of the best I have ever seen. Your Dad is a true professional and as long as you follow his lead you to will be a true professional also. I watch many of the Wrecker / recovery video's and its easy to see that your old man is amongst the best in the business.
I saw your video first on Bonehead Truckers. Great Job. I'm sure that this was one of your easier jobs to do. I agree with Ike that this driver should not be in a truck. Ethan, you are learning from one of the best in the industry.
Ethan is coming along quite impressively! It really warms my heart to see a son following in his dad's footsteps in the family business! I would have loved to be able to add "& Son" to the doors of my big truck, but, (1) he really hated driving for hours on end, and (2) deep in his heart he felt the unmistakable pull of the LORD's calling on his heart and soul and is now a minister! I couldn't be more proud of him now!!! Thank you for sharing these videos with us! May God bless and keep you and your family and team!
A new CDL driver for the Rotator, new matching gloves for both Midwest employees, and a clean and polished Rotator. Good things come from threes just as in the Trinity. Congratulations, Ethan ! ! ! Nice job, well done. Be safe, stay safe, to keep safe. We will always move over and slow down.
dad Pratt Passed His Legacy on To You and Your Sisters Ron AND Now You are Passing the Legacy on To Ethan And Your Daughter and Man It is a Beautiful thing to Watch God Bless you
Ummmm Ron you got in the wrong side of the tator, I bet that felt strange, as always great to see you teaching and coaching the next generation of operator
RON,GOOD MORNING ,,NEW DRIVER, IF HE CAN NOT EVEN DRIVE,ONTO A SCALE, AND WEARS FLIPFLOPS, I REALLY DO NOT HAVE CONFIDENSE, AS HIM BEING A DRIVER !,,so I heard EATHEN GOT HIS CLASS ‘A’ CDL LICENSE, GREAT,,PROUD OF HIM, HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL LABOUR DAY, GOD BLESS YOU ALL, ,,,🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
It's a Volvo part you can only buy from them and it's probably couple hundred dollars for the pair. However yes I would be more concerned about the damage to the underside of the truck
I was a tow truck operator for quite some time myself. I found, with a Volvo truck, if the latch isn't releasing, try going under the hood directly over the tire. Feel for the wire cord that releases the hood, and give it a steady pull. Do that on both sides, and your hood is fully released.
A giant truck and yet they engineer in little space to work on it. Great recovery as always. Ethan has great progress as he has an exemplary trainer. The invention of hydronic is a very underrated discovery. Hydrology move the world.
I dont mind Ron being overly cautious on the small and seemingly easy jobs. It only takes one tiny mistake from taking a shortcut to cause major damage or injuries to someone around even a simple recovery. There is a time and place for shortcuts and good old boy routines but heavy recovery is neither one.
The knowledge of Geneation to be passed down to the next. It is nice to see a young man. Follow his Dads footsteps..same path probably was from following your Dad. May He rest in peace.
Mike is still around, but drives one of the smaller tow trucks now a newer version of the Vulcan V70, I forget what it's named and often assists Ron with many calls.
Good job getting him safely of the scales Rob and Ethan it is good to see he is driving the rotator now. Your are the best mentor to learn safe operation of the rotator and the business. In all my yrs of otr things like this never happened to me also accident free. I am very lucky to have many yrs safe safe driving. ❤🇨🇦

Congrats to Ethan, very fortunate to be learning from a great mentor such as Ron. Wealth of knowledge and professionalism.
Great to see next generation getting in there.
mentor? Is that what they call your dad where you're from? :P

Ethan's got his Class A - it doesn't seem to be five minutes since he was just starting in kiddie-school!
This was so fun seeing you enter on the "wrong" side of the truck. Isn't it great to have your own personal driver?
I’m sure that Ron is very happy with Ethan’s evolution but it must be very odd for him being the passenger.
First time he's gotten in the "right" side.. (Watching in Australia) 😂😂
Being like riding with dave and his girlfriend billyjo
Congratz to Ethan on his C class, makes me realise how long I been watching you Ron, also cheers for slingin this one Ike's way brother, he's a good man. Blessings to you and yours from Australia.
Congrats on the permit. Ethan! Ron, I'll bet it feels weird sitting in the passenger seat!
It looked weird on the video. But very cool
It was wierd watching it
Heh, its surely a different perspective. XD
Might feel weird, but at least it's easy on his shoulder ;)
Ron has to let go of the wheel at some stage. Better to do it incrementally rather than overight. When Ron decideds to semi-retire, I hope he gives Ethan (or whoever it is in the family) plenty of time to smoothly transition operations.
I have a feeling that the truck driver is doing a pirate fair and not qualified at all....
That's why he didn't know how to open the hood, removed the tow hook covers. Was all worried about the covers after crashing the truck
He definitely is not qualified to driver my brother was an 18 wheeler most of his life and I saw him put them places pretty darn small. He use to say if you knew what was driving trucks out there it would scare you to death.
I agree 👍
Agreed
@@ireneeickenhorst2326 yup and if you knew what was managing half the fleets out there you'd brick your shorts because that's even worse

Not sure he is capable of learning how to really back one of those things. Operating heavy equipment with flip flops!

So, How did he perform the pre run inspection if the hood is unable to open?.
Agreed,
It sounded like he didn't even know the hood was broken. Unless something happened when he fell off the edge of the scale, which could be possible if the truck was tweaked a little, he never opens his hood, which means he doesn't do a proper pretrip. 🙄
probably didnt lol
That is definitely something for DOT to look into. I would guess his pre-trip is done from within the cab in about 20 seconds.
Exactly what i was wondering. I guess he needs to get that fixed asap.
Ahhh Ron climbing into the passenger seat is interesting!
Congratulations to Ethan for the CDL approval.
You can be proud of what your son has learned lately 👍
A good boy, God bless you
Ethan is a very lucky young man having a great dad and mentor.
I'm glad to see the driver was wearing the proper PPE.
congrats Ethan. good luck on the test

Also a mild language barrier. Eating did great
Easiest way to make our roads safer. Outlaw automatic transmissions in semi’s. Would weed out most of the problems
Yay, It's Friday, Good morning from New Hampshire.
Congradulations Ethan on the permit.
The newer body styling might be to reduce wind drag and improve fuel efficiency but it sure isn't for any service easing.
Most modern stuff isn’t easy to service anymore. It’s a shame too
Pop pop
Same with newer cars trucks ..usually sucks
Some of the freightliners are like 3" off the ground. Of course there is no way to unpin and flip up the bumper. That would cost an extra $20
On Volvos, those front corner bumper pieces come off very easily. If remember, it's a 19mm hex, unplug spot light wiring, and it's off.
Great job, good to see farther and son, as a team.
