    There have been a lot of comments stating I should have set out cones or asking why I didn't put out cones for safety during this job. Yes, I stress safety. We have a very dangerous job. Bottom line, I probably should have put out cones, but I didn't. No excuses.... I could go into all kinds of different reasonings and things that were going through my head during this job. It still would not change the fact that I didn't put out cones when a lot of viewers feel I should have. Thanks for having my safety in mind. God bless all.

      Didn't the policeman say he was going to set out cones?
      I think in Europe (or in Germany at least) they'd have the lane closed and traffic control set up before they even called you. Precisely because traffic safety is their first priority. That's what cops do over here.
      Just imagine someone crashing into your 'Tator at highway speed... we really don't want that, do we?

      In Denmark they'd definitely close off the lane. Normal procedure when there's an incident and they need people to clean it up. Think it's fairly normal throughout Europe,

      Greetings Ron from the good old UK. As a person who works in traffic management, sometimes, putting out cones leaves you in more danger. as the "Man on the ground" at this incident you did what you felt best. Over here we would have probably sent out an IPV ( Impact protection vehicle) but if some idiot was to run into it the result would be the same, a major crash.keep up the good work.

    I've been watching your videos for 2-3 years now and I never actually knew how hard it was to be a tow truck driver, Recently at the mechanic shop I work at we had a guy come into our shop saying he needed his car towed and fixed because he "lightly" hit the guard rail by a bridge... we get there and the entire right front side of the car is gone from the bumper to the passenger door. It was a pain in the butt to drag up onto a trailer I can't imagine entire semis like you have before or like a dump truck here, respect to you for doing that. Have a great rest of your day

    Food for thought, label each box on the truck with a number, inside and out, that way anybody helping you on a scene, they can immediately tell where something goes by just the number you tell them, "rim slings in Box3", "light bar in Box4" etc etc etc for example. Would speed things up for you versus having to explain each location each time. Keep up the great videos and be safe !!!!

    Another great job by Midwest! Something I did at my shop when I had several workers was number the drawers of my tool box. Whenever I needed one of them to locate a specific tool, I could easily just tell them what drawer number the tool should be in. I thought that might work on your truck.? Either number the boxes or give them a colored dot.? Something to identify each box specifically from the others without counting from the front or from the rear.?

    Ron, a suggestion. To alert you when the remaining cable on the drum is about to run out, mark cable with white paint at alert distance and red paint to stop. Can be seen from a distance.

      @@pws3rd170 I'd put money on it not being capable of being made fit for road use, and was just used around a farm or something similar (maybe even seasonal) before it was taken - so could be weeks or even months before it is missed, and would explain the lack of licence plates. So the value would be either as a restoration project or as scrap.
      That would explain why the driver didn't hang around to face the cops, too, although it is possible that alcohol may have played a part in that, too.

    I was going to raze you about the dirty windshield. Then I realized that anyone that would stop in the high speed lane with no protection is more man than I will ever be! You flat could not pay me enough to do that trick with a bunch of cars & trucks coming at me with the sun in their eyes. I also decided Tater needs a lot more flashing red lights on the back! Kinda surprised the officer didn't already have cones out and his unit blocking the lane since he knew what you were going to have to do. Good job Ron, Be safe out there. I don't think the tire blew. I think the dry rot just stopped holding on to the piece next to it and they all let go at the same time. LOL I did like the number on the trucks front bumper

    • @Unknown_Ooh
      @Unknown_Ooh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@ronniehooperjr1 If it had a cable kill the thief would have to be aware of it and deactivate it before starting the truck so they would know what to do to kill it. My guess is the thief blew the tire, took out a bunch of the highway barrier fence and was scared so he just bailed without thinking to pull the cable.
