- We attempt to stay one step ahead of the cold season and replenish our firewood stash for next year. With wood heat being the primary source of heat for our cabin this is a very important task. Often times days spent outdoors in winter are not only productive but also enjoyable. Eric builds an insulated box that can be moved on skids for the generator.

@@nancyfaircloth3224 That's where you walk away until you can talk about it in a calm voice. We built a 20-sided polygon together, and I had to do it more than once (I'm the hothead). Most of the time, it was because I couldn't see the logic of what he was wanting to do. He learned that if he put it on paper, I could "see" what he was talking about. Then we were both talking apples instead of a bowl of fruit.

That bird feeder reminds me of the first time my cat I use to have, she didn’t know what a sliding glass door was all I heard was “ping” right off it because she wanted the bird.
The upsetting look on her face was priceless it was hard not to laugh 🤭.

I miss the old SLA. I still watch the content but the beginning was my favorite time, not a ton of fancy stuff and made it seem like anyone could do it.
Once again, another stunning opening sequence!!!!! When watching the video I just kept thinking you guys could really use a hot tub or a sauna. Your dinner looked yummy! What an omelette!!!! I have the same plastic bird feeder for my window. My cat absolutely loves to spend hours “observing” more like plotting to pounce on the birds smile😊

Cant believe how much wood you guys get through, maybe I don't really appreciate how cold it gets in your neck of the woods. To be honest at +4c it's a pretty chilly here at the moment. Lol. I just got done eating some delicata. Most people have no idea what is. The only squash I like better is Banana squash. I do not peel my delicata as the skin is edible. It is usually difficult to find at local markets but got lucky and the local had pallets of several varieties. I picked out all I could find and 50 cents each.
I hope we get a update of how much fuel the heater for chickens uses.

I made a bird feeder out of a 5 gallon water jug.last a lot longer.
Another great and informative video. Bird feeder entertainment for you frustrating for kitty.. You have mentioned down the road Rocket Mass Heater you'll be amazed at how much less wood you'll burn. The other day I was watching how you store some 500 canning jars. I did make a suggestion on a root cellar. Where you currently live if the water table is down deeper this system will work, no cravings
.You could also use threaded rod&turnbuckle system. Either way it's wicked strong with constant outwards force. That reflective foil AKA. BUBBLE FOIL

Are you going to build the end caps for the big building before the snow really starts to fly; so that your tractor & other gear can stay out of the elements and at least a little warmer?
Unfortunately that will be an early spring project, we definitely have lucked out this year with the winter.
Put the log in a truck tire and then split it.
You can hit it multiple times and split it without it going flying.

SUGGESTION… ADD FUEL ADDITIVE like the landscapers do to their equipment!

Another breathtaking opening and the Northern Lights, just incredible. Back in the 1950s, they were visable in Oregon. Scared everybody, we'd never heard or seen such a sight. They were so beautiful, eerie green lights dancing in the sky. Ariel, you rock! Handling that chainsaw like a lumberjack (Jill).
