Happy New Year folks! 🎊 Winter Solstice is cause for celebration in our little family🥂With the shortest day behind us we can look forward to gaining daylight from here on out. ~ E + A
Dear Eric and Arielle, here's to another happy and healthy, adventurous and amazing year. I joined your channel during your move to Alaska and have been hooked ever since. THANK YOU for all the work you put into the Videos, especially the nature shots. I deeply admire the way the both of you work and live together, your partnership in life. Have a good 2024! Looking forward to watching your videos.
My Mother passed way in April. She loved watching you two on your adventures in Alaska. Your videos are so calming and restful and your relationship is so sweet and wholesome. Watching you two now reminds me of her. You would have liked my Mom. She was as kind and as sweet a human as ever there was. Just wanted to say thank you for the joy your videos gave her at the end of her days. God bless you both abundantly.
I’ve seen so many comments of the same nature over the years and it seems so trite but I really and truly hope you both know how deeply we appreciate your storytelling, your videography and editing, your commitment to showing all of the majesty and all of the effort that goes into making your homesteads what they are/have been! I am a suburban Philadelphian who has never homesteaded, gardened, fished, but you are my favorite channel to watch!
Happy New Year, besties. My sister passed away 3 days ago. I’ve been depressed and not motivated to do much. Why is it that I smiled when I saw you guys uploaded a video? Thanks for being here for us week after week. I appreciate y’all so much.
This is the best community on the ‘Tubes. Thank you guys so much. 3 years ago on Dec 11th, my mama passed away, and she was my true bestie. A month later, my longest childhood friend was murdered, along with two of her children. A year later, I lost my Mema. I have no one else left, but you guys are my fill-in family, and I’m thankful for that. 2024 has to be better, right?
hi love watching your videos, is there a possibility to extend your cabin and make it more luxury. saw in svalbard video . thanks and Regards ✌@@SimpleLivingAlaska
So, coincidentally, I was having my new years eve dinner by myself (rib eye steak, baked potato, steamed broccoli, pint of imperial stout) and you guys sat down across the table from me 34:40 and it seemed like I wasn't quite so alone. Thanks for that, cheers 🍻 and Happy New Year 2024! Health, wealth and prosperity!

@@kimkerley4218 I found my companion online. :) we've been married for 5 years, together for almost 10. it took a lot of doing but i finally found him. :)
@p.t.anderson1593 -- I feel the same, these guys are some of my favorite people - I wish them well in such a beautiful yet harsh environment, but that said - that's what life is all about, we all love a challenge, beyond that - what's the point? :D , Eric (Basically a modern day Viking at heart) and his Loving love of this world, his wife (A). You’ll probably never see this comment . . . but my bride and I use rutabagas in our beef stew (and vegetable soup) instead of potatoes . . . I have no clue how it would be in the beef bourguignon . . . but just thought I’d share that family treat with you. I’ve followed you for years and have never commented . . . Amazing videography: the night skies, the animal tracks and the wildlife. NatGeo quality. And as always fantastic food: cheese wheel, Mead, and Moose Bourguignon - Wow! ❤

I'm 69 year old, I watch you all the time. When my wife asks what I watching, I always tell her I'm checking in on my kids, lol. Hope you had a good Christmas and here's to a good New Years
OMG... Ariel, you are so cute with that cheese wheel! It's the simple things in life that bring the sweetest pleasures sometimes isn't it! So glad your inner child got her cheese!
Nice to see that everyone is okay. I heard about the tragedy at Eagle River. I immediately thought of Eric and Arielle. You are just the type of folks who would jump into a frozen river to rescue your dogs, despite the risk. Condolences to the family in Eagle River who lost their Mom and their dogs.
LOVED the time lapse photography 😍. You hit all aspects of Alaskan life, cold, outdoors, food, and trail cameras. That was fun, thank you 👌. Blessings in the New 🎉
I read the sunrise/sunset times and wanted to cry. I was going to ask if you guys suffer from the winter blues with all the darkness. But I imagine it helps to always be so busy with all the tasks you have to do just to keep life operating smoothly. The cheese and those egg muffin things looked SO good. I love the roosters. Aaaaaww, the pups with their jackets and little booties! I spy a little mooselet? Happy new year to all!
I am French and I can tell you that you nailed this boeuf bourgignon ! We traditionally don’t put tomato in it, maybe Arielle would prefer it this way ? Once again thank you so much to both of you for all the videos this year, it’s always such a pleasure to watch them every week ! I wish you a wonderful new year !
The broom attachment is genius! The thing I've noticed about the extension ones is you need a little more weight in the center to "dig into" the snow. Without it the head just sits on the top mostly. I've attached a small weight to the center of mine to sink into the snow. The more snow, the heavier the weight. Once the snow gets over 2 feet you just have to do it in segments, if you can't get up on the roof and shovel. Just a tip from the top of a mountain in northern Vermont. 😊 Happy New Year!🎉
The time-lapse shots are awesome! Nice choice of music, too, unlike a lot of other TH-camrs. Happy New Year to both of you, I'm looking forward to more great videos in 2024.
THANK YOU SO VERY VERY MUCH FOR COMING BACK ON. PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND WIFE AND WE CAN'T FORGET ABOUT THE DOG'S AND CAT AND ALL OF THE HENS.

I've been a subscriber for some time but don't usually comment however it made me so happy to see your chickens. To me they look so much happier & active than usual for this time of year. I think you have done an amazing job of their coop. It is quite obviously making them a lot happier. Worth all your hard work. Great job xxxxx
Eric and Ariel, wishing you and the pups a healthy, happy, prosperous New Year. Thank you for including us in your lives. You give us great content and the most beautiful photos of Alaska. Stay well. Happy New Year.
Thank you so much for the soul nourishing entertainment. Beautiful, beautiful images and editing, entertaining adventures, and fun and honest banter between two very sweet people. What is it like to have 750 thousand close friends?
Watching now. So happy for another video. I would like to suggest that this summer you closed cell spray foam the crawl space walls, dirt floor and underside of the floor. Create an insulated pocket. Helps with frost and moisture! When you have them out to spray the Quonset they could do the under cabin work as well. You guys are awesome. I absolutely love your videos. Thank you so much for them. Especially for the northern lights and all the drone video. Sigh. If I were 30 years younger…..
Thank you for another wonderful year of allowing us shut-ins to live vicariously through you and your wonderful adventures. Getting notification of a new video always makes my day. 🥰 I appreciate you so much. You have "family" around the world who love and adore you. From the Pacific Northwest. 🎉 Happy 2024... ❤❤❤
Julie and Julia is my favorite movie! Your version of Julia Child’s classic looks delicious! I love when you guys film your recipes. Happy new year. Huge fan.
I know exactly how you feel Ariel, when you work that HARD on a meal it should “BLOW YOUR SKIRT UP”! I Definitely have been in your shoes I’m a 65 y/o grandmama, and girl I cook from scratch every meal!
I’m sure you’ve thought of this… but a thermostat control for the underfloor fan would give you better control especially when away from house. Love the cheese, cooking and meade making!! I enjoy the videos!!
Happy New Year Cold Dudes and Babies!!! The dogs! Their boots and coats - so cute! I love when you guys cook. So inventive. I'm so happy you guys get to do this. It is a hard working life, but a satisfying one. Stay safe and warm!
Bourguignon looked yummy. Just a tip, whenever you cook with wine, you should cook it off. So if you make it again (or anything else with wine), add the wine before you add the stock and let it simmer a few minutes to get rid of the alcohol. Happy New Year!
The irony of life is I worked my ass off, got a nice condo in a high rise, only to catch myself watching videos on off gridding and Alaska wilderness lol.
You two literally made my go to Christmas dinner meal, over the years the protein has varied from beef, venison, bison, elk and caribou, but the results are the same, empty dishes, gravy mopped clean with home made bread. A little more simmer time on the wood burner helps the collagen in the meat break down. Kudos, keep living the life!
What a perfect way to end 2023, with my favorite two Alaskans! We had a "fruit room" when I was a kid, it held all of our canning, produce from the garden, fruit from the garden. Dad insulated it with sawdust. It was wonderful. Great to see the chickens, the babies are all grown and so beautiful. Mead is a sweet wine and it can be potent! Beouf Bourguignon, to use the fancy, hold your pinky finger up, name is delicious. I graduated from the LCC Culinary school, I always used a good quality wine, not expensive, just a good wine. I used pearl onions instead of shallots, but I bet yours imparted more flavor, I'll try it next time, thanks for the tip! Happy New Year🎉🎉 ❤ To you all! See yah next year! Lori from Oregon.
Eric, using the brooms for the snow scraper is a great idea! The problem seems to be the brooms can’t cut down into the snow enough to pull the snow down. I’m wondering if the design could be improved with a squeegee shape in place if the brooms so you can cut into the snow and use downward force to pull it off. Anyway, love seeing the inventions you create for the problems that need to be solved! ❤
I've always thought that two people could seesaw a rope over the roof with some kind of drag in the middle to move the snow. This would give a downforce to the drag, you can do both sides at once, and have minimum material inputs needed. Moving from one valley to the next may take a technique I have not thought through.

I don’t know that you guys normally go back through and respond to posts but I am wondering how you keep mice out of your produce in the crawl space area? I want to say too, I LOVE how you two bring AK alive. Your adventures are so inspiring!
Couldnt ask for a better way to ring in the new year! A 45 minute video 😊 this channel is my happy place ❤ my husband and i made the move a little over a year ago from Ontario to New Brunswick Canada to start our homestead. Your videos are a great inspiration! 🎉
Y’all hit it out of the ballpark with this one! A little taste of everything- the drone footage, firewood collection, a little project, the McGiver snow “rake”, the hen house, cooking, and last, but not least, the awesome side by side comparisons of the trail cam footage between seasons! And, your fur babies look happy and warm, so cute with their jackets and booties! What a way to end the year. Y’all accomplished so much. I’m so looking forward to next year’s projects and videos! Wishing you the happiest of New Year’s Eve and an abundant and healthy year to come. Sending blessings and love 🙏🏼❤️
Eric and Arielle, thank you for all your awesome videos. My wife and I have enjoyed them for several years, it’s been fun seeing you two grow. My brother and sister in law just moved in Dec. 23 to Willow, AK on to 80 acres that back up to the Nat.l forest. They are having a house built. Maybe they can go fishing with you two someday. Salmon fishing looks like a blast.
You guys have some beautiful places, my wife and I love to fish too. Enjoy watching you catch different kinds of fish using different methods. Keep up the good work, I know it truly can be a lot of work.
Another A-1 video🤩 Just what I needed on this very dreary (for me) last day of '23. Our bitterly cold snap just broke... never been so happy to see +11F. Since I'm oldER the minus 23F we've had here (upper Mat Valley) just got to me hard. @19:17 is such a groovy scene in the chicken house. So much good to say about this vid. THANK YOU for bringing joy🥰 Happy bountiful New Year🥳💖
Arielle and Eric, thank you so very much for taking us along on your journey. I thoroughly enjoy seeing AK through your eyes. Wishing you both a very Happy New Year and a healthy and adventurous 2024.
The time-lapse videos truly took my breath away,I go night fishing with my sister and to watch the stars together is just wonderful ❤ happy new year to you all 🎉
Happy New Year! Can't wait to see your next projects in the Spring. I also look forward to seeing you create a new garden as well, when the time comes.
The Texan in me could never. But I LOVE watching y’all !!!! Seriously I start shivering when it gets below 60 Fahrenheit. They say that we’re gonna have bad weather this winter and if that happens then our whole state’s gonna freak out like it always does. A snowflake falls and we call a national holiday. Y’all would laugh nonstop at our panic when the grid goes down. To be fair….I know 2021 was a really challenging time for a lot of people here. I think that’s why a lot of us enjoy watching you ROCK it. Maybe we are trying to learn something? I remember wishing we had a fireplace. Low key considered starting a fire in my kitchen. 😂
Oh, I love the squeak of snow❤...Its New Years Eve. My little family is in Florida...but I was raised as a child in RockSprings, Wyoming. The Northern Lights footage was beautiful.🎉🎉🎉 HAPPY New Year🎉🎉
Magnificent footage of your beautiful property, Eric & Arielle! Loved being in the chicken coop…they made me chuckle! Your projects are the best… Enjoyed your walk about with the pups… and the trail cam footage gave me an idea of what to do with ours! Have a Happy New Year! Stay warm, feed your fires and your dreams! 💞
Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed the wildlife and scenery footage along with the music. Awesome photography. Thank you and have a happy new year! 🎉
Arielle I really appreciate your honesty about the drink and food in this video. I can't stand when people act like things are perfect always! Like its not shown on their face anyways.
Happy New Year! Ariel and Eric and thank you for all your hard work in bringing us the videos! You could substitute the wine in the Moose Bourginon using Stout, Beer or Guiness which are more subtle but fantastic flavours!😀🌟😀🌟😀🌟😀🌟
Saved this to watch on New Year’s Day! Happy New Year to you, Eric and Arielle! May 2024 bring you nothing but joy! In his later years, my uncle used to send my Dad a wheel of red rind cheddar cheese - it was delicious, and so treasured by us!
Never get tired of the drone footage. It’s always amazing and different each time. Truly epic. Happy New Year E and A. Thanks for the adventures! Looking forward to seeing what you get up to next year.
I loved that first bit about the cheese wheel. Reminded me of a few years ago and I'd fallen on hard times. Finally got a job and calebrated my first paycheck by buying a wedge of Manchego cheese, which I ate for supper that night. Have a happy and prosperous 2024!
Mead made from honey and blueberry with champagne yeast would taste like wine with hints of honey and of course blueberry. Next time, measure starting gravity and when finished fermenting measure final gravity. Then you can calculate aprox. ABV. Adding juice and zest from half a lemon in the brew, would enhance the taste. Happy New Year! 🍾🇳🇴
Ah your photography is brilliant !!! It’s amazing how you two have been creating each video better than the last . Thanks for bringing Alaska into our lives !! Happy New Year to you and friends !!
You have to cook the tomato paste down with the mirepoix ( onions celery & carrots ) before you add the meat and broth to tone down the bitter taste from the paste. Also your missing the cognac which is called for in the original recipe that will lessen the wine taste and elevate the dish and deepen the flavor of the gravy. Wonderful video love seeing all of the snow Happy new year God Bless you and your animals ! ❤
Me and my husband are watching you guys from Canada Ontario since 2018 :) you are the best , we learn a lot from you , hopefully this year we moving to different province to start our little homestead.
Your music choices are exceptional. It always seems to perfectly match the scene we're seeing. I've said this a few times to you now but, I sincerely appreciate how talented you are with your production/editing. Happy New Year!
Winter at last! Well, doncha know, it is gonna fly right by .. like a streetcar passes a bum! I enjoy your adventures .. thank you so much and all the best to you two! Now I go watch ❤
Hey guys, Happy New Year!!🎉🎉 The next time you brown meat(hear me out, I promise you) coat the meat in flour and use brown sugar in the pan (trust me). Allow the pan to get hot, I ONLY brown with butter because it adds flavor. Then add the brown sugar and allow it to caramelize then add the REFRIGERATOR ED meat and allow to cook for 45 mins!!❤❤ I PROMISE it will CRISP your meat and no it won't taste sweet. Just as wine cooks off as does sugar. ❤ Edit: Did you guys know Julie Powell the woman Julie and Julia was about died Oct 26, 2022?
Happy New Year folks! 🎊

Omg guys, Thank yall Sooo Much!!! Us lowly mortals can only Dream about what Yall Are Doing & Living & Seeing!!! Much LOVE guys Thx!!!😘😘
Yes, but as someone who really doesn't like wine, it's like Ariel said. You can always detect the flavor you don't like.
and use Burgundy to do it correctly, major difference from Pinot or a Merlot!
I usually add maybe a quarter of what you added - that way it’s just a seasoning and won’t overtake the dish
Does Moose taste like Deer?
Молодці!

З Новим роком Вас, здоров'я!
As we leave the old behind..and embrace a new day,week,month,year..2024 may God's blessings be upon both of you ..beautiful souls from Alaska. The blessings of the lord make rich..😂😂❤❤and adds no sorrows yo it.
Thanks for the new video. I've finally finished watching all of your previous ones. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU BOTH AND ALL YOUR ANIMALS AND BIRDS.
HAPPY NEW YEAR ....Enjoy watching every episode ...next visit to Home Depot get a ducting boot the size of grate down to the diameter of fan. No loss of heat going to crawl space. Easier to monitor the temperature in crawl space. Be safe
Thank you! Happy New Year 😁
You all are so darn cute, and I love how you discuss your food together, defining exactly what you taste….. Love Love Love these videos👏🏼👏🏼❤️❤️
Happy 2024 to you both!! To see the animals in their natural habitat was incredible. Thanks for another amazing year of videos.
You can really see what a great layout your property is with aerial view. Pretty spectacular! Happy New Year my Alaska dudes.
My birthday is the Solstice! I just turned 41! One day before I die, I want to see the Northern lights with my own two eyes! It looks mesmerizing!
Happy b day!
Happy New year to you both and thank you for another gem. Them pesky chickens are thanking you for the hard work on their coop/resort.
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY everyone thank you for sharing your adventures in life and Happy New Year everyone

IDEA: Set 2 hinges on that crawl space door and a handle so you can lift it up and rest it against the wall while you go under ❤❤
Eric and Arielle, thank you for all your awesome videos.
Happy new year, guys. I can't wait for all the adventures you have in store for us next year.
I’ve just discovered your channel and I’m obsessed. You remind me to live more simply and inspire me to try to live more self-sufficient ❤
Happy New Year's to one of my favorite couples. Beautiful scenery!!
THANK YOU for bringing joy🥰
Happy bountiful New Year🥳💖
The cinematogrophy is some of the best you have done! Entrancing!
thank you :)
Thanks for another video. That dinner looked so good. I loved your time with the beautiful chickens. See you on your next one. From Central Oklahoma
Arielle and Eric, thank you so very much for taking us along on your journey. I thoroughly enjoy seeing AK through your eyes. Wishing you both a very Happy New Year and a healthy and adventurous 2024.
The time-lapse videos truly took my breath away,I go night fishing with my sister and to watch the stars together is just wonderful ❤ happy new year to you all 🎉
Thank you for putting what I thought to words.
Happy New Year! Can't wait to see your next projects in the Spring. I also look forward to seeing you create a new garden as well, when the time comes.
Thank you for years of content. Your my fav youtube channel. Blessings from the UK for 2024
The Texan in me could never. 😂
Happy New Year, Ariele and Eric. One of the best channels, thank you so much!
Oh, I love the squeak of snow❤...Its New Years Eve. My little family is in Florida...but I was raised as a child in RockSprings, Wyoming. The Northern Lights footage was beautiful.🎉🎉🎉 HAPPY New Year🎉🎉
Hey, I'm from Pinedale! Not too often you come across someone from that neck of the woods 😊
Most humble... living I've ever seen with abundance of food ...simply the best...
I finally got to hang your 2024 calendar yesterday. I was so excited I hung it up at like 10am 😂
Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed the wildlife and scenery footage along with the music. Awesome photography. Thank you and have a happy new year! 🎉
Happy New Year Arielle & Eric looking forward to you continuing to share your cabin adventures. 🎉
Happy New Year, Eric and Arielle! Love your guys! 🎉❤
I appreciate how the footage from forest cam was arranged, jumping between different season and animals
Eric’s “oh yeah” after taking a bite of that spring roll had me cracking up
I loved that first bit about the cheese wheel.
I also loved the transition from the glorious star-travelled darkness to the chorus line of chickens! Sublime to the….what?!
Fast as a New York minute!
😁@@yeah4me2
Šťastný nový rok Eric a Ariel🍾⏱️🎆🥂🇸🇰
I just think it's so cool how you went from a place with a flooding root cellar to a place where your crawl space is basically a root cellar. Perfect.
Ariel, your face as you were open that cheese wheel was priceless!
Hey guys, Happy New Year!!🎉🎉
The next time you brown meat(hear me out, I promise you) coat the meat in flour and use brown sugar in the pan (trust me). ❤
Edit: Did you guys know Julie Powell the woman Julie and Julia was about died Oct 26, 2022?
Happy New Year! Sounds more like blueberry whiskey! Cheers!
