Rode a 2009 a few years back, sold it when the fuel pumps started having problems (not mine but many on the forums were left stranded. The battery was under the front plastics you had to take three or four panels off to get to it. The mirror mounts cracked I had them replaced under warranty and then one of the replacements started to show signs of cracking. The seat opening was by turning the ignition key and pressing; didn't work smoothly and you knew one day the key was going to break off when trying to open the seat. The scoot wasn't light, it weighed in at 500 pounds or so. Those and the cost ($8K) were the negatives. The Positives were outstanding: the thing was fast, certainly all you would want to be riding in town and no issues keeping up on the highway. It looked more sport bike than scooter, I thought it was sharp as can be. Handling was exceptional. You could flick it around the curves easily and it held it's track well. I went back to Harley's and went unto a 2014 Softail Heritage (760 pounds without any gear stored). Realized for me the long Interstate Highway runs were not really part of the mix. The service on the HD was crazy expensive. Did dome research and started to look at scooters again (I don't care what other people think!). I bought a small one, lasted two months (topped out at 57 or 58 mph... Then bought my current ride; a 2016 Kymco People GT 300i. A 300cc liquid cooled, fuel injected scooter with 16" wheels!. The scoot does 80 mph no problem, it only weighs 369 pounds fueled and ready to go. Handles like a sport bike and the maintenance is very low cost (I found a good Kymco dealer ). This thing is amazing. $5,000 out the door. Kymco quality is very good, As good as the Japanese manufacturers IMO. The only question is parts (down the road); the availability may not be as good as Yamaha or Suzuki. But 2,000 miles on the "People GT" and not a single hiccup. No complaints.
exactly! They think you're not a real biker if its a scooter, not knowing its more expensive and premium than the mt 07 and mt09 they hype so much lately.
it is nice that you americans are starting to receive this nice scooters. Every time Im in LA or the area I keep asking why they don't use scooter more often. And this one is one of the best if you need to do highways and not just city.
Nice bike. I owned a 2012 500 (2008-2012 version) which I loved, but eventually sold as too much weight on my cocix. That pad is really annoying. Needed an aftermarket screen to prevent buffeting. Only other issue was lack of ABS. Would like another but they're very dear, and annoyingly only available in grey or black, both which I dislike. I also wish I didn't have to have keyless as its a major security risk.
Great vid and thanks for being more thorough than all the other reviews I have seen! I too will be getting one when I finish my MSF course and get lic. Look forward to your next one on the TMAX!
Very nice scooter. Wish they didn't stop shipping them here. Would have bought a 2016 for sure. I'm getting a BMW 650 Sport but I sure wish it was lighter like yours and had LED headlights like yours. Nice review. thx
finaly usa has understanded the greatness of the t-max , try the akrapovic exhaust thats what i'm using , shoutout from morroco :p , and the on/off switch is in there for more protection , in europe / morroco its very known for them to be stolen
LOVE MINE!! I pass everyone up hills no problem! I have personally hit 115mph on the freeway with the bike having more to give. The remote is total crap though ( made by Mitsubishi ) . Nice vid.
I'm much more of a motorcycle guy than a scooter enthusiast, but the TMax is very appealing to me. Until it comes to the price......$10,500 for a 530cc scooter? Parked right next to it in my local Yamaha dealer showroom is the FJ-09 sport touring bike, for the exact same price. The FJ has twice the power and with the standard included hard bags will carry more stuff too. Shifting gears on a bike is not really that difficult, I've been doing it for 52 years. Scooters in general are ridiculously over-priced for what you really get.
Barry Ervin It's a very different experience. Scooter are more of a car replacement than a motorcycle replacement. Scooters are designed for running erands making it much more useful for multi-stop trips and bad weather. It's. the alternative to having a car and motorcycle combination. Ideal for single people living in cities.
I've owned 2 scooters, and they were fun and, as you say, very handy for riding around town and running errands. As for replacing a car, that definitely wouldn't work here in rural PA where I live with cold winters and snow and ice. If you live in a city with bus transportation, it may work well. My problem with scooters is that they are over-priced. I've been in the car and motorcycle field for many years and have a good idea of what something costs to produce, and a 6 speed transmission and manual clutch cost way more to make than a centrifugal clutch and variable belt drive. The brakes and suspension on most scooters are primitive compared to most modern motorcycles, too, although the T-Max is pretty good in that respect. In general, when I look at most scooters I just don't see where the money goes. It's not that I don't like them, I just don't want to pay a price for a scooter that would buy me a far more capable machine in a motorcycle. I paid $5000 for my new Honda CB500X and if I could have bought a T-Max for that price I would have considered it, but $9000? No way.
That's what made the Vespa so popular in Italy after the war. It was made for people who did not care for motorcycles and wanted something akin to a two wheeled car. ( low maintenance , easier to use, and with greater protection from the elements)
I've got a zuma 50 zuma 125 and yamaha royal star I paid $5500 far all 3 bikes. Nothing better than wind therapy! If you check Craigslist often you can get great deals just take your time.
In my opinion there are very few scooters that don't make a person look like an eccentric, nerdy, dork. The Zuma is one of the cool ones. That new scoot of yours is over the top for my taste. I would have gone with a motorcycle before that. Like your video's though. Thanks for sharing...
Nice video I have the same scooter I love it too. I wanted to know what u think about upgrading to the malossi Variator and do u think it will really help the performance of the scoot off the line ?
Its the variator belt that you change out every 12,000 miles or so. (you should get more than that). The rear drive belt should last 80,000 plus easy. I can tell this is your first maxi touring scoot.
Hi friend I Wii be getting a scooter, like yours but it's a three wheeler scooters, but it's like yours I just happy to see people out there who riding what I getting if you do more video I would like to see them have a bless day 😎
I have a Zuma and love it but I need something in case I need to hit the freeway. I wanted to know are these nimble in the streets because I live in Los Angeles where filtering is legal and the Zuma excels in that regard, I know I will have to give up some maneuverability with the larger TMax but I don't something large and clunky like the Bergman and a very reclined seating position like the Forza.
So many people just don't understand how a scooter works for most humans. Mind you I've road raced motorcycles, motocross, raced go-carts and cars and have owned sport bikes and HD's .. so I get the motorcycle/speed cool thing but it's apples and oranges for people who say a maxi scooter is too expensive, they just don't get it. Maxi Scooters for my life style get around town, to the office, to events, and into parking spots otherwise unobtainable in the report town I live in. These scooters are way more fun to ride in town than any motorcycle, easy on and off, and I can carry groceries and other stuff. I now owned a GT200 Vespa for 5k miles, it was a great pit bike and finer one up but for two up riding kind of slow and not too much fun to ride fast as it was prone to high speed wobble.. I did one long ride (150 miles) and it was miserable but not what it was designed for. Then I bought an Aprilla 500, it was heavy, fast, and did I mention heavy. It simply was perfect for my needs and would do 100mph solid as a rock. Two up riding was excellent and I did several long rides which were a lot of fun carving mountain roads. We put 7k on the Aprilla. Now the Yamaha T-Max 530 ... best Maxi scooter ever made, looks un-dork and rips. Thank you for your review.
Hey Daniel what did you do with your souped up zuma 125? I'm thinking of installing a bbk on mine. It's a daunting task for me but thanks to your instructional videos I just might be able to do it.
DANIEL CELAYA I'm not sure you can, there is no AM / PM or dot on the LCD. There is no information pertaining to that on page 5-3 (LCD Display) of the operator manual either. So I do not think that is possible.
mark J woodford I have since left the scooter tuning scene. But I definitely do miss it honestly . Call it competing priorities . I am completely humbled that I'm still getting so many hits on my website and on my TH-cam videos ...thank you guys for your support. I wish I would have monetize these years ago.... ka'ching.
***** yeah fuck them, when i had a scooter motherfucks laugh at me yet they dont own shit, these losers literally live under a rock, they dont know how to ride and enjoy life, just work homes eat shit sleep
Thanks for the video! I have Burgman 400 2015 ABS version, but I really like Yamaha's sporty design. I thought about buying Yamaha, but it was +3000 euros more than Burgie. Do you facing any issues with X-GRIP RAM mount on a windscreen so far? Is it safe enough?
I have a Yamaha T-MAX 2009 and I have found a kit to convert any t-max to 560cc with engine and clutch upgrade that will kick ass its made by MALOSSI.. thought I would pass that on.....
Nice and I'm glad for you, however I see the BMW c600 Sport to have way more going on for it than this Tmax. When you stop and look at the BMW there's just no comparison!
Had to modify it to get it to 70mph?? My 2015 Vespa 300 GTV will do that easily. Nice looking scooter though. My dealer has a used one with almost no miles on it. Lady bought it and decided not to ride it. They want full boat retail for it however so I'm not in the market.
+Ken Landry Much agreed, I test drove a Burg and it felt sluggish and really heavy for its size. THe TMAX is very nimble and has a great lean angle making a very sporty in the corners. Tons of videos to support this information.
+hdidane00 Why does that matter? The Aprilia isn't readily available in the US and also costs over $2,000 more. The BMW is nice, but their new models are not yet available in the US. The TMAX is not "slow" and has also been said to handle better than the Aprilia and comparable BMW models. I think the TMAX is an awesome choice.

I recently moved back to the US from France and I noticed how very few people even know what a T-Max is
I hope you’re enjoying yours 💯

I've wondered the same thing, especially in southern California with sun nearly year round and no snow would you not be riding a scooter more often?
Thanks for the video I didn't realize the new ones were finally for sale in the usa
but not the DX

I have recently ridden s friends Tmax, and spent time around it. I must admit I like it. fast & smooth. The sport bike of scooters...
Great vid and thanks for being more thorough than all the other reviews I have seen! I too will be getting one when I finish my MSF course and get lic. Look forward to your next one on the TMAX!
I shot the video today, look for it soon

I just passed the MSF and was looking at 300cc Sport bikes but I think I might want a scooter instead.
GT6SuzukaTimeTrials As a 530cc its just as fast as other comparable bikes, arguably faster because you never have to let off the gas to shift.

Im thinking about saving up for one of these and just start to daily drive this, Everyday! Save alot of money on gas and still have fun!

Hey Daniel what did you do with your souped up zuma 125? I'm thinking of installing a bbk on mine. It's a daunting task for me but thanks to your instructional videos I just might be able to do it.
Received my new 2015 Yamaha TMAX on May 6th, 2015. Love it. Have you figured out a way to change the time from military to standard 12 hours?
DANIEL CELAYA I'm not sure you can, there is no AM / PM or dot on the LCD. There is no information pertaining to that on page 5-3 (LCD Display) of the operator manual either. So I do not think that is possible.
I thought they don’t have this in California, USA. Where in the U.S is this available? Is this bike not too big for a short guy?
Part two is coming soon, been very busy setting in the new house and work
I was enjoying your tour and then it suddenly stopped, WTF?
Are these really 10 grand?
Did you make a part 2?
all you have to do us run some wires from the battery to a battery tender plug to anywhere that makes it convenient
dude....are you puttin your tmax on a charging system this winter? gettin to this battery seems a tad bit much.
Are you still rocking the zuma was it ever fixed?
mark J woodford I have since left the scooter tuning scene. But I definitely do miss it honestly . Call it competing priorities . Love them two cylinder pot calipers.
Where can I buy this from I live in North Carolina??

good vid man, want to see mine check it out! can wait to see part 2 peace out.
daniel croteau mmet
Well it's been 5 years I guess we'll never get a part 2
I have moved on since then and rebranded the channels focus
Do you still own the Tmax? If so a five year update would be great.
@@guysmith3146 I have moved on
@@Dynamo55b you should have updated and told everybody so we wouldn't have had this been doing this
why there aren't many scooters in america, only sportbikes and harleys??
+Ri Hi why do they laugh?
***** yeah fuck them, when i had a scooter motherfucks laugh at me yet they dont own shit, these losers literally live under a rock, they dont know how to ride and enjoy life, just work homes eat shit sleep
I seen a lot of scooters in Florida recently.
people think scooter are childish thats why they laugh, they are wrong, t-max is a powerful machine they will never own
hakualex These are also cheaper in FL too, about 2 grand cheaper
DynamoUSA
where did you buy it i whant one tmax 750cc?????
Ely Norbelto lol
You should try the tmax 1290cc its a bomb
Thanks for the video! I have Burgman 400 2015 ABS version, but I really like Yamaha's sporty design. I thought about buying Yamaha, but it was +3000 euros more than Burgie.

Hello where can I find t max it’s hard to find lol
U Know any webpage to buy documents to motobike?
Hey Bro im still waiting part two. Are you coming soon or should we wait for start riding on Mars? 🤣
Part two?
Hey My Boddy How much did U pay for it...I'm trying to get one by Ebay but it could be a risk right here.
Dude let the injection to stop then start your bike it takes only 2 sec
How much it cost brands new ???
recorded with a calculator?
you still got it?
"No dipstick this year" It's NEVER had a dipstick...not even my 2009 TMAX.

Max speed?
alexobeatdj About 170kph, which is aprox 105 mph. But you can always tweak it to make it go over 120mph easily ;)
StuntMenLive got a 2011 100% stock, reaches 120mph easily
holy crap! really?
Yeah! Pretty quick for a 530cc engine.
alexobeatdj 120 m-h

I had the Burgman 400 and then the Honda Silverwing 600, but not nearly as much fun as the Zuma, more like a motorcycle instead of a scooter.
+Ken Landry Much agreed, I test drove a Burg and it felt sluggish and really heavy for its size. THe TMAX is very nimble and has a great lean angle making a very sporty in the corners. Tons of videos to support this information.
I have seen riders do things on Goldwings that most cannot do on a scooter, video of the right rider will support this information.
+Ken Landry It has more to do about the rider than what they ride. Its all about practice that far to few are willing to do
On sale
I have a Yamaha Majesty 400. Talk about stupid design features? Mine has them in spades. I will never own another Yamaha product of any kind.
failed to mention it's also the slwest of all maxi scooter slower than the aprilia and slower than the BMW
did not "fail" to mention anything of the sort, because it was not a comparison video to other scoots.
didnt mean to butt hurt you but the Tmax is just slow.
+Steven Avery I agree. Tmax is very nice.
+hdidane00 How much slower? Might mean the difference of 10 mph. If it does freeway speeds, that's all that matters.
Im interested in buying your bike please contact me.
As nice as it is I can’t pay $11k for a scooter maybe in few years I get one used for $4500 otherwise it’s way too much brand new.
some of the ergonomics design is poor, given that this is yamaha, especially that key
