  • Riding a 572cc high performance BSA B50SS around the Palos Verdes Peninsula hill. You will see at the start where I encounter a "Zero Tolerance for Loud Motorcycles" sign and turnaround.
This particular B50SS has an open 1.75" CCM reverse megaphone exhaust and most certainly would qualify as a loud motorcycle. :-)
If you skip ahead in the video to the 9:10 mark you will see a strong ride up the hill where the engine is pulling hard riding up the hill and the bike is handling some nice twisty curves. It is the highlight of the video...

These are just awesome little bikes. Nice scenery BTW.

Thank you, this bike "was made" for these types of roads. ;-)

Hard to beat the sound of a hot B50 on a nice winding road .No doubt you surprise a few bikes. My own B50 is very close to yours in spec 90mm JE piston, Carillo rod ,1038 MK 1 Amal also have a 1034 MK 1 to try. also a self generating ignition system .B50's are great bikes i have owned mine for over 40 years and have road and steet raced it and used it as a road bike.

Great to hear from a fellow hotrod B50 rider. I bought mine new in 1972 and have riding, racing, and tweaking ever since. ;-) I have a 1034 and a 1036 Mk1 Amal. I find that with a Weber cam, CCM 1.75" exhaust, and ported/polished head, the 34mm Amal provides crisper low through midrange than the 36mm. Top-end may be a little better with the 36, but it is difficult to keep the bike at 7K RPM long enough to know. I mostly do the type of street riding shown in the video, and the 34mm is more tractable pulling through the curves, running below 5K RMP, etc.
Again, wonderful to hear from someone who is using a B50 for high-performance street riding. It definitely surprises modern sport bikes, particularly in the tighter twisties where its lightweight and great torque make it just a joy to ride hard...
