I was born and raised in the Bronx... 4 generations of my family have been coming to City Island...my Grandfather and Uncles worked at the schoolhouse...my sister went to school for a short time there...we would go out to C.I for a visit or seafood...I still live in the Bronx and visit C.I whenever I can.
Not from the Bronx ( Bklyn) , but I do not whave relatives & would go there to visit them. Never would expect to see an area like this in the Bronx ( maybe in Rockaway Beach or Coney Island!! ) The Bronx is truly a borough full of unique surprises!!
thank you for walking this tour it's hard to see much of anything driving i really appreciate this thanks again i think island city is a really pretty town

Finally, Sammy's Shrimp Box, the best seafood restaurant I've ever eaten. Used to go there all the time. It's been years since I've been in NY. I didn't realize that Sammy's was that far down on the Island. Try it, you'll love it.
Of course this was years ago, but when I used to go to City Island before I could drive I took the BX12 bus, immortalized in "A Bronx Tale" to City Island. WHERE do all these other numbered lines terminate after City Island?
Thanks much for sharing this walk...i haven't been through here in many years so it's a nice refresh. How about walking through the Fieldston area of the North West, Bronx and the Throgs Neck area of the East Bronx? Keep up your labor of love.
