I'm a frequent visitor of New York City, and I always take the chance to go to Harlem. I had to say the thing I like most, I would the say the soul food restaurant, where they serve the most delicious food I ever ate, which is the banana pudding. Sitting here on a Monday evening in South-Germany and make a walk through Harlem without book a fly, spend money or whatever (what I am willing to do anyway someday). 😂 The Video is extremely sharp and it's like it's me walking there. The same for the whole USA or Japan or Africa. Within 10 Seconds I am in a foreign city and see people I will never met in my whole life. Strange, funny and sad at the same time. I was lucky enough to stay there for a few weeks in 2001. The people were lovely and i loved chatting with them. I remember the fish and chip shop in sugar Hill. Made me feel like I was back in England

Amazing quality and cool walking tour. I’ve only been to NYC once and wanted to see so much more, including Harlem and especially the Apollo theatre but sadly could only fit so much into one week as it’s a massive city. This doesn’t beat seeing it in person but love this perspective as if I was walking there, cool idea and channel!

Wow what a place! Reminds me alot of parts of London. Quite old fashioned, people chilling, people on the grind, no massive chain shops. I'm coming across the pond this Christmas to NYC, I'll def be sure to come to Harlem and explore.
No way, only parts of London that could resemble this is Peckham, Harlesden, Camberwell, Brixton (to an extent) and Tottenham and all these places I mentioned are on a much smaller scale. I would say those places are 1/8th of Harlem in size or smaller... In terms of looks, nothing like London. New York looks closer to Toronto (or the other way round) to any other city outside the U.S.A

Beautiful. I lived here (Madison and 119th) for a year and a half when I was in the US, and I miss it. The old brick buildings, the churches, the brownstones, the parks, the different restaurants, it just had such a nice vibe.
I visited Harlem some years ago- went to the Lenox Lounge (now, sadly, closed) and sat and listened to some fantastic jazz. Just to be in the same space where Billie Holiday and Lester Young hung out- what a treat.

I went to Harlem with my GF a few days ago on our trip to NYC and really loved the atmosphere, and also we ate at Sylvia's (16:44), I highly recommend the place and the soul food! We also went to a gospel office (it was at Convent Avenue Baptist Church), loved it too! Cheers from 🇫🇷
Thank you for this tour. I have never been to Harlem. I was expecting a massive ugly breakdown jungle ghetto, but the place is really nice. It looks like an old historic town to me. Beautiful in deed.
Notice the white people in the video? Liberal yuppies have been slowly gentrifying Harlem, mainly the west side and south of 125the St. basically where this video was taken. There are other parts of Harlem that are still hood, especially where all the projects are and that's where people should still avoid, especially at night.
I like your video very much. Very authentic. I find it a bit strange that a lot of the old houses in this neighborhood are still in pretty good shape. Different people with different moods and with different beliefs.
About 15 years ago I wired a 7 story bldg. not far from the Apollo. It was originally 5 stories and we added two more to it. On one of the existing floors was a figure skating academy. This video reminded me of that job and I looked it up. They were nice people who tried hard to put up with hassle that 50 construction workers can produce. I'm glad that they are still there. I wonder if you can still buy fresh mangoes on the street corners.

There are heaps of massive chain shops in harlem, its heavily gentrified. Wholefoods, H&M just to name a few

I like your video very much. Very authentic. I find it a bit strange that a lot of the old houses in this neighborhood are still in pretty good shape. Different people with different moods and with different beliefs.

Nice walk in à part of NYC rarely shown here in France. I would also have appreciated to see n'arriver streets and no only those few large avenues

About 15 years ago I wired a 7 story bldg. not far from the Apollo. It was originally 5 stories and we added two more to it. On one of the existing floors was a figure skating academy. This video reminded me of that job and I looked it up. They were nice people who tried hard to put up with hassle that 50 construction workers can produce. I'm glad that they are still there. I wonder if you can still buy fresh mangoes on the street corners.
