- This is part 2 of a two-part series about my new D51 locomotive. Part 2 will include running the locomotive in a big running session with other trains, and testing the slow-speed after warming it up. I also came across a problem with the locomotive not running, so I'll also include the process of how I found the problem and fixed the locomotive.

Very nice bit of diagnostic work - well done sir, keep up the good work 👍.
I've found Kato steam locomotives to be a little twitchy myself as opposed to diesel and electric locomotives and multiple units which are sweet.
The smoothest slow running steam locomotive I have is a Bachman Spectrum 'Consolidation' class which runs reliably at ridiculously slow speeds.
Thanks Hyrum. I bet you're glad you didn't give up too early. I enjoyed the video very much.
I look forward to getting mine, hoping Kato has some left in stock of this version when I get over to Japan. Bought the D12 brand new on launch day at their main store while over there, its beautiful as well. Cheers for the video mate.
Update: Yard boss! Have one of those, first train I had and got a new one last year. Nice to see them together before getting mine.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Are your switches remote or manual?
Not A Bad Looking Engine .
Most newer kato locos come with a flywheel!!! 🤔
Prairies are 2-6-2s! That's just a 0-6-0 switcher "yard boss!"
Thanks for the info! I wasn't really sure when I called it a prairie. I guess I'll just call it a switcher from now on :)
