Looking at this Skull and Bones early access review I think the Skull and Bones reviews will be rather unsure if this is a good Ubisoft game or not! I think many people will say that this game was not worth the wait and that Skull and Bones sucks or maybe even say Skull and Bones is bad! Today I will look at Skull and Bones and see how it compares to other pirate video games. This game was supposed to build of black flag but this review of Skull and Bones will show you what this game is really like and if you should buy Skull and Bones!
Today in this review of Skull and Bones we will ask that question and look at all the gameplay mechanics to find out if Skull and Bones is worth buying!

This Skull and Bones Review is honest and based on the new early gameplay, the previous gameplay footage, and what I personally could get my hands on with the game and footage!
I do extensive research, so I can give you an accurate review of Skull and Bones game!
For this Skull and Bones game review, I will avoid talking about the late game and only talk about the new Skull and Bones video game features and why this game is only on next-gen consoles like the PS5 and Xbox X. I think We need more games that focus on new systems that are not obsessed with chasing high graphics and other modern-day gaming trends! Sadly this is not one of them! In this video, I will talk about modern gaming and how Ubisoft games have changed the gaming triple-A space over the years, and maybe not for the better! The problem with Ubisoft is they do not learn from past games and keep chasing the gaming money!

Skull and Bones is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Singapore and published by Ubisoft. The game is set to be released in February 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Amazon Luna, and Microsoft Windows. This is the new Pirate game by Ubisoft!

They literally have the baseline for an outstanding pirate game in Black Flag, plus the ship battle expertise in multiple games.
How did they mess this up this badly?
It really does suck.
The fact that Ubisoft, after all this time, can't come up with better "boss mechanics" other than "they move faster and are spongier than Superman" is just pathetic. There really isn't any other way to put it.
AAA Publisher with a plethora of studios, now trying to sell the "quadruple A" game shtick, and all they can do is copy-paste, cut out what actually works and is at least somewhat fun, implement stuff no one asked for, and increase the price.
EA literally has to sit back and do nothing, and Ubisoft will take the title of most hated company.

how come you start off saying that all ubisoft games are too similar, and you don't like that. and then say you wish this new IP thats different and is TRYING to do it's own thing, was more similar to the old black flag ?

It's a bare minimum of a pirate, it's not even a pirate game. A ship battle game. When you control your character on hubs feels disconnected from the world, an afterthought and it feels like it used to be a menu but made it into a hub. Imagine watching Pirates of the Caribbean but all the footage happens on the ship. The atrocious Pre-orders packs, MTXs design to milk a sinking ship. Overall, it feels like a chore to play Skulls and Bones.

Once again another live service game coming out that’s mid. First Suicide Squad now this, only game that stands a remote good chance is Helldivers 2, because it knows what it wants to be, the immersion is better than both previous games combined and I think it’ll be the most fun of the three. Oh well, guess I’ll wait for black flag remake, hopefully they don’t screw that up as well.

The game is also funny, but after a few hours anyone can easily see it lacks of ideas and has some real boring gameplay mechanics. Huge world, hours of navigation in the wide old blue (at this point shooting cannon balls to other ships is not a question of piracy anymore, is just a way to elude tedium) some funny battles when medium ships are unlocked, but then? 4 different typologies of quests in total, and everyone of them include several minutes of navigation in some kind of blue void; useless minigames created to collect useless resources, while top tier items are all included in a system which requires thousands of hours of gameplay to get them. Maybe players will fight each others to be the best buccaneer in the world, i think I'll just wait some shit to elude all of this crap, like a real pirate would do.

Big disappointment. This was it for me. I'm done buying any game until after a few months of its release and multiple review videos.
Crazy how any of these devs still get away with this.
Id like to point out that when they first announced the game it was an instance battle ship combat game like world of warships only in pirate world aganist AI. So the game was never intended to be an assisins creed clone. the open world aspect was added when alot of Assins creed fans complained. so they tried to change there origional concept for the fans and then thy made somthign that dosent please either. so now we have this as the result. It has the aspects of a Tier system (like world of tanks/warships ect) but with the open world aspect of assasins creed. People keep complaining about not being able to get off the ship but it was never intended to be that way from annoucment.
I don't think people were disappointed that it's not another ac game. People weren't happy about a pirate game not having sword/pistol fighting, no land exploration and the fact that on current gen we have loading screens for everything and not even having animations of the character getting off the ship or walking into a store. If visiting a shop that is out in the open has a loading screen (few seconds) that just goes to show how Ubisoft just wants to save money on the expense of their consumers while asking for a crazy amount of money for an average game. You can't even walk on your own ship or have access to the interior of it, let alone jumping off into the ocean.
You're wrong! Most people that wanted something similar to Black Flag were expecting the game to be a sequel because it was announced as one in 2013. It became a stand alone game in 2017. The game was meant to be similar to Black Flag back when Black Flag was a big success and people wanted more content. People have been waiting for all this time and they messed it up completely.
But it was intended originally as an add on to black flag, so somehow it just became a naval game, which is weird. It's not that they advertised it as a black flag 2 they advertised it as the proper pirate experience. When they should have said it's the proper pirate experience in boats only. I mean how can you have a pirate experience without swash buckling right?

Awesome review but does this game is worth getting at full price ? I suscribed btw. Also I have been playing Avatat Frontiers of Pandora and even if the game aint bad the game has no identity and its super boring.

It's Ubi - it's obvious it was gonna be crap!
Played the first six hours of the beta and started off with great intentions with a few mates. Could only load in with 2 others which was weird for a game that has 20 people in a server, or is it 21? The graphics at sea are ok, sometimes pretty enough to take you away, sometimes not. The water on the beaches is laughable, watch the graphics from Horizon forbidden west and compare, there is no comparison The mechanics feel very rushed and clunky, nowhere near as good as the original black flag when controlling a ship (which i played immediately after). Even if you love boat games i cant see how this would keep you engaged for so long. I think people pre ordered this and are gutted and so are defending it out of some kind of loyalty buy to ubisoft, and if you genuinely think this is the best multiplayer game youve played in a while then each to his own, but its dull as fuck. They couldve got rid of the land interactions all together and had better interactive ports. You cant explore your ship, you cant seem to change your crew or yourself much for that matter. This is a naval game with little else going for it and it doesn't even do that particularly well compared to other games. Even Valheim is more fun to sail around in a boat.

@@Saviour30 Getting tired of looking forward to new games only to get super disappointed. Ubisoft used to be a powerhouse that seemed on the up. But they oversaturated ass creed and to have an add on for black flag develop into this boring, mediocre naval warfare game and claim it's a 4A title is unbelievable. How anyone would think this is 4A is beyond me

Bit harsh on Ubisoft. I don’t think they’re that bad. New Prince of Persia & AC Mirage were pretty good imo.
The later AC games are way too convoluted, but they are well made.
The Far Cry games are decent as well. Not life changers, but you could do a lot worse.

Spot on review. I played around 20h Open Beta to reach ship lvl 8+, it felt like a stupid mobile game. Really braindead dumbed down mechanics/game systems. At this point i feel sorry for all the artists that have put alot of work into skull and bones. Guess we never will get a successor for "Pirates of the burning sea" (2008).

I'm convinced that mainstream media has taken over the gaming industry. They saw the success of The Last of Us and other cinematic games and figured they could make a best selling game too. Then instead of brainstorming game mechanics that actually sound fun, they use a template. Would you like your game to be like far cry or more like Hogwarts with live service? Since the template is already set, all they need to create is the assets.
Do you all really think it took 10 years to make this game? Fuck no!! That's just a lie they push to the public to make us think they are truly working hard. In actuality, the development time for a game like this is 2-3 years max. Reminds me of Anthem. Remember when they released their first trailer and called it in game footage and people were blown away. Then the game came out, and it was just a shell of what they wanted us to believe it was.

You've dribbled on for half the video obout nothing, I looked at your site for a review and spent half the video listening to you talking utter crap ,next time try talking about the review first
So you would prefer wasting time docking your boat, then searching the island on foot, manually looking for and chopping down trees. The worst kind of boring grind. They did it right in this game.

I would prefer something other than a " tap A at the right time to harvest resources" mini game. That's mobile game quality right there.
Heres a better idea. Command your crew to goto the land and harvest acacia trees etc. The bigger the ship, the more crew to harvest resources at different nodes. You could also expand on this idea with certain crewmates having bonuses. It would be more immersive, too, because a pirate captain commands his crew.
How is it that me, a blue collar worker, has better ideas than ubisoft???

Played the open beta for like 10 mins and hated it. Garbage game. It’s gonna lose all the money they put into it. Hopefully close down Ubisoft and give any of theyre properties to a company that could actually make a game

yah, i sure as hell will...for a 70 bucks game with massiv mtx!
i really wanted to like it and have a good pirat game but they left out 2/3 of what it means to be a pirate. im a ship, my char does nothing else but walk around in hub areas, no gun play, no sword play, no nothing. even risen 3 gave me a better pirat feeling
