Nothing emotionally crippled me more this series than the simple shot of the pirates at the end of the game with Bonny singing. The concept of losing friends and "moving on" is so deeply human and intrinsic to life that its no wonder why the scene struck such a cord with pretty much everyone.

Honestly to this day the ending brings a tear. Following his story and life and all he wanted was to support his family and to be able to do that and realise what he sacrificed for it made me cut some onions

I would love for the remake to include a DLC in which we discover Edward's memories after the events of BF. Like when he's an actual assassin. They could proposedly make it a 3 part DLC: about his first years as an assassin, the (re)establishment of the order in London with him as master assassin and mentor, and lastly a dlc in which we experience his fatherhood with Haytham and his eventual death.

I just binge played all of Assasins Creed and Black Flag was one of my favorites! Being a pirate and an assassin? Sign me up! Abstergo storyline was pretty bad tho that was its only flaw. I like how they connect AC 3 AC 4 and even Rogue, and Unity as well that’s neat!

I've always been a defender of the Desmond segments and I enjoyed his story, but that being said I really enjoyed AC4 and Rogue's modern day story. Getting to see the detailed inner workings of an Abstergo operation and, in the case of AC4, becoming an inside man of sorts was very interesting.
Happy Birthday Black Flag! I love this game. It was my very 1st AC game and it´s still my favourite one. Then my save file corrupted and and I lost my 96% save. I was mad but I played it again and I am now at 98% of total synch.
When it comes to pirate games, you should check out Sid Meier's Pirates. It's a brilliant game about pirates and it's almost 20 years old. I played it in like 2007 or so and it was amazing. It can catch you for a lot of hours because it's quite addicting to see yourself grow in the rank of the most dangerous pirates.
The remake can be amazing , with the new tech ubi has developed the potential is great. Having seemless sailing in the Caribbean alone would be awesome.

I have a tradition to always start a new Black Flag save at the start of summer every year. It's my favourite game to play from the AC series when it comes to setting good vibes. The story feels like you are actually taking part in an adventure, the Open World is very immersive with all the different enviroments of the West Indies and the ship mechanics are really fun to mess around with.

The weird thing about Valhalla is that, AFAIK, vikings were actually quite successful with ambushes and guerrilla warfare...like no sane person wages war exclusively with loudly announced full frontal raids over and over. A viking assassin's creed game could've worked nearly as well as a pirate assassin's creed game, if they didn't go for the over the top mythological fantasy RPG angle and the pop culture image of vikings instead. I do say nearly, because invading a foreign land kind of runs counter to the whole "freedom" angle. Unlike Black Flag, which plays the "freedom gone wrong" narrative which fits it alongside the rest of the kenway saga.
Things I’d like to see for the remake: •Edward’s hair being loose like the game art. It fits his rough demeanor better. •Less tailing missions. A couple every now and then is fine but 40% of the game being railing missions is ridiculous. •Duncan should have a prominent role other than some “master” assassin you kill in one combo. •Edward should have his initial “mysterious” personality that Blackbeard talks about •Slavery and racism should be more overt and less subtle. Mafia 3 didn’t hold back at all, Ubisoft shouldn’t either.
I have to be honest here. I never liked Black Flag and still don’t. I played it in 2014 and never touched it after. The modern day story and gameplay and characters are all terrible. Bad acting and cringe worth dialogue. As for the pirate part, sure is fun and upgrading the ship was a bit fun. But the Edward gameplay? Awful, don’t know what it was that made me hate it. Never liked the map designs either too much grass hiding? James Kidd was too obvious being a woman too. There are nice things like hints of mayans, or latin templars but yeah, this game feels much like Odyssey, Origins and Valhalla in a way that it’s not actually about assassins but the pirate stuff…
Black Flag's a flawed masterpiece. It's probably got the best cast of characters in the series. Everyone feels so believable. Later games felt like I was watching cartoony versions of characters. Edward's story arc is fantastically written. Ship combat's fun. Having extra assassination missions was cool. A lot of the tailing missions are kind of blah and I didn't really care for the dlc that much. Would have loved an Edward game in London, though I know it would have been a completely different vibe.

Played this for the first time yesterday on my ps4 and I wish i played it back then...I understand its 10 years old, but god dam the graphics are so shit, colour is so granulated.
This may be blasphemy to some. But to me, black flag is all right. I have a hard time being gripped by the story, the world feels somewhat empty to me, and i feel like im dragging my feet and forcing myself to finish this and i dont think i can finish the game. Its not a horrible or bad game. To me it's just not worth all the hype it gets.
Ubisoft is only remaking black flag because it made them the most money, there surely are some quality of life improvements possible, but some other ACs would have deserved and maybe needed a remake more than black flag
Black Flag still looks great. I hope they just do what they did with the Ezio Collection and 3, just throwing a fresh coat of paint on it with a couple quality of life tweaks

Black Flag still looks great. I hope they just do what they did with the Ezio Collection and 3, just throwing a fresh coat of paint on it with a couple quality of life tweaks
