On a serious note. This mod is still early, has bugs and glitches, not ready at all. I'm also pushing my horror mods to an even bigger level, introducing screen overlay like Fears to Fathom, dedicated ambient sounds which continuously plays, and perhaps even attach hints and stories to the mods.
Make him help you Like he comes into your house truh the windows and Put an chest whit a mensagem and a gift next you your bad while you sleep Also make him atack other players that arent his obsession and add an sanity bar Só you can tame then like a stand but you gotta manager your sanity arround him
The reason the trader was invisible, is because it was night, when it turns night they drink a potion of invisibility so they don't get targeted by mobs
@@JustAFish290 it's a vanilla feature, you can also very rarely get the potion of invisibility to drop if you kill the trader while it's holding it iirc.
I really like the idea that the stalker watches your daily routine and reacts accordingly to it. At first he'll just watch you from afar and hide when you spot him. He'll eventually stop hiding when you notice him and only run if you approach. After that, he'll start waiting at your base. He'll wait by the front door just for you. He'll also follow you, into caves or other dimensions, he'll find his way back even if you trap him in the Nether. Soon, he'll get jealous. If he sees you interacting with any mob in any way, be it feeding animals or trading with villagers, he'll kill them so only he will have your attention. He'll also bring you gifts in the form of items you last gathered, but don't accept these gifts because that will enable his creepy behavior.
Some sound ideas for him that would be cool is if he whispers "hello" like he's trying to work up the courage to speak to you Maybe even heavy breathing if he's unnoticed
i love the idea of him just watching you fall asleep, and the moment you regain control and its day he is gone. xD Would probably need a mechanic that locks you into the the bed when you lay down.
I'm a horror fan and never was a fan of jumpscares, especially in minecraft since it just isn't capable of capturing the same effect as a real horror game.
tip for multiplayer: make the obsessed only target one person when noones around, as it's obsessed, but if the target is near someone enough, it'll get "impatient" and start showing up and if u decide to let it attack that would be one of the rare moments where it would attack
''- Add an update where you get married to the obsessed if you gift them a diamond, and they start helping you out / cooking for you if a campfire or furnace is near, as well as occasional throwing a written book to you with love letters/poems inside.'' ''-- U should make him wisper stuff like „i love u“ and such yandere stuff. Like him placing roses around ur house or setting a chest with bloody Meet in it in shape of a heart or eye. Or just a pic of u in a map. Or if u interact with a villager that he kills him'' WHAT.
I usually don't react to jumpscares. But I really didn't think The Obsessed was programmed to aproach you like that yet. I was drinking tea and almost spilled it.
18:30, it looks like The Obsessed is trying to grab you there, which is honestly scary. Also, imagine if there are multiple Obsessed in the world and they are all stalking you, trying to take you while fighting each other, imagine just seeing the corpse of an Obsessed in your base because another one left it there as a gift. It could also go down the cult path and I don't know which is scarier, multiple Obsessed killing each other and leaving their corpses as gifts or a cult of them trying to capture and keep you like your some sort of pet.
Both tbh. Hell both of those ideas could work together. There is cults of obsessed (different ones or even just one) and if another obsessed isn't in the cult they get killed and given as a gift to the player. But I would say that the idea there is many is a lot scarier then the cult (but then the cult idea is terrifying as well)
@@DRCM2023 although, imagine if you get grabbed by the obsessed and whilst trying to fight it off, your screen slowly fades out and you wake up at some random coordinates (not too far away from where you encountered it)

18:00 that shot of him crawling on the floor towards you like a big cat attempting to stalk his prey gave me genuine goosebumps. It actually feels like you're being hunted
Considering the animation the creature was doing in the most recent episode, I think we can assume he's attempting to track the player and exactly what you just said.
My suggestion for The Obsessed would be that it could attack and kill tamed mobs (wolves, sheep, etc.) because it is jealous of the attention they're getting
i enjoy the fresh take with 'The Obsessed', lot of other minecraft horror mods relies on some bloodthirsty mindless violent monster hunting you down, but the Obsessed doesn't seem intent on killing you (yet at least), it's more curious than anything, at first merely stalking you and then now trying to attack (or perhaps just scare you a little for fun?). You could even make up a little story to go along, what if the Obsessed is curious of you due to you being the only 'Player' in this world, one of the kind, and taken that your skin looks faintly similar to its appearance (The same Smile and all), perhaps it even thinks that you're one of *its* kind, leading to its growing obsession with you. I do love this little mod as the Obsessed has some personality unlike other mods who's monsters usually just come off as being Scary and Bloodthirsty for the sake of being Scary and Bloodthirsty. You could add a lot of lore to this little fellow and I can't wait to see what you have in store for them.
Mindless for sure. Really the dwellers are missing predatory intelligence far too much. They missed the "intelligence" part and only went for "predatory". Being stalked is much scarier than being attacked.
@@Dice-Zbeing stalked is similar to the way a polar bear would attack a person, if you ever see a polar bear up close, it’s been following you for a LONG time, it’s what predators do. They don’t run up on you, screaming and shouting, they *wait* for an opportunity to get you at the easiest time for them to kill you, this is exactly why I dislike the dwellers
@@Dice-Z Agreed! A lot of Dwellers tend to rely too heavily on simply jump scaring the player. Not to insult or belittle any Dweller Creators or anything but it feels like some people are just Copying & Pasting the Cave Dweller and just giving it a new scary coat of paint or a 'gimmick' while not actually doing anything to set it apart. I'd like to see creators give their Dwellers real personality or even lore to go along with why they might be hunting or haunting the player, it'd be more interesting than just 'scary tall guy staring at you from the shadows' again.
Terror and tension aren't the same thing. True fear is always slow burn. Otherwise it's just apprehension or being startled. Neither of those are inherently fear or horror. Shock is the same way. Shock (/ disgust) does not constitute horror by itself, a lot of body horror often fails to understand that. Slasher movies, gorey fests, etc... What does horror mean? True horror is a healthy balance between psychological fear, threat, tension, build up, climax, recovery (an important part, constant escalation will fail, dwellers are a peak example, if there is no down there is no up), mystery, uncanney, and knowing how to best use each of your senses to its advantage. That does include visually disturbing or uncanney sights, but they are not enough by themselves. What you hear is often far more effective anyway. Horror is knowing how to dig into people's fears and exploiting them as best as possible. It's knowing how to appeal to people's inner child and knowing how to get personal. Horror doesn't work if you don't feel invested in the character you are or are watching either. It almost never works if it's not slow burn. Horror can focus on body horror, creature horror, psychological horror, supernatural horror, existential horror, social horror, etc... but in any case, it works best when it understands how to play the above cards well. And knows how to be versatile while also capitalizing on its strenghts by delving into all horror types. Understanding tropes, which to use or avoid and when, is another game changer. In a video game, the atmosphere is key. It should be oppressive. But not constantly so, otherwise you burn out or build tolerance. It's why alien isolation in spite of having one of if not *_the_* scariest enemy in a horror game, falls flat in the highest difficulty. The threat, the antagonist, should be threatening, but not annoying or frustrating. Sometimes giving a false sense of security pays out much better than keeping someone on high alert at all time. The dwellers do almost everything and all the above wrong. They only rely on novelty, that's it really.
In multiplayer, the creature should become obsessed with just one player at a time, and should only appear to that player, meaning everyone else on the server will think that the target is either messing with them or going crazy. Until it’s too late, that is. Kind of like the creature from the movie It Follows.
Or maybe, just maybe, everyone will know about the fact that this mod is in the modpack so they'll be like "Oh I can see Obsessed" - "Oh cool. Put your netherite stuff in chest though, would suck to lose it". It's like none of you guys ever played with friends.
@@s4le They’d know it’s in the modpack but if it’s implemented right, it can be that the target is the only one who perceives the obsessed. Other players would not be able to physically see it at all, and it could be immune to glowing as well as making sure it doesn’t release particle effects to prevent it from being tracked by other players. Sounds it makes could only be heard by the target, etc, etc. If nobody’s ever played the mod before and it’s thrown into a modpack with a bunch of mods, people probably won’t guess that it’s this mod that’s responsible for events at first. Use your imagination.
@@nathanielcallen3965 I mean yeah, if people are completely new to it, then sure, it might work for a bit (Until someone just sends a screenshot or something), but there are like 20 ways people can ruin the fun for themselves, especially if there's at least one person who's going to be like "OH YEAH GUYS YOU KNOW HOW THIS IS A HORROR MODPACK WELL THIS IS ONE OF THE DWELLERS ONLY ONE PERSON CAN SEE IT SO COOL IKR???", especially with how this mod won't just have you die right from the start and it will take many hours till something significant happens (Enough time to google it)
Love the idea of It Follows type of rules. Only people it attaches to can see it, but the noises and objects moving/breaking can be seen by others (but only sometimes, like it’s trying to be sneaky)
It would be a cool detail if you can see its expression like changing depending on the level of its obsession. Like if it’s REALLY obsessed you can see it’s creepy psychopathic smile/smug and if it’s really pissed/unpleased you can see it’s frown/angry expression, it would probably be hard to make but a nice detail to see.
Your whole channel is goated. Your mods are what I call TRUE horror. And above all, you're a wholesome creator, and you just be yourself. I'm happy I stumbled upon your channel and content. ❤
@@SpiritedWolfsame bro 10/10 content and the mods are ACTUALLY horror related and not just scary y’know? Like there’s Alien Isolation and then there’s Aliens Colonial Marines
This mod has very similar traits to herobrine ‘from the fog’ mod, which I believe is also a psychological horror mod, but the thing that keeps this mod from being scary is the fact that herobrine, isn’t actually a real threat to them. Without a real risk, the minecraft player has no reason to be scared of the mob, since as you said, the obsessed doesn’t want to kill you, but be with you. If a risk factor such as being kidnapped or being blinded or nauseous after being hit by him were a part this mod, it seems like something that much scarier knowing something bad COULD happen to you. Of course since obsessed is still in early development this is more of an idea I had if any of it is even possible
This is already a thing I mean, what do you think he tried towards the end? It wasn't just to say 'Hi' hahaha. SPOILERS: My & Developers idea for the mod is that there is a relationship system which improves/decreases depending on player choices, such as discarding an item The Obsessed gave to you. Eventually, the obsessed can kidnap you and bring you to a sewer facility, This is a massive maze, and you can't mine through it. You have to escape, at this point the Obsessed is so pissed off that you are still trying to run from him, and he decides that if he cant have you, no one can, this is when he starts making actual noise and hunts you down like a psychopath, he takes no pleasure in killing you, but he in no way will allow someone else to be with you.
@@idk_someguyI get it now, I was thinking of the classic Indie horror games where the killer or stalker places you into an area that they want you to stay in, and kill you for trying to leave. I think it would be kind of cool to also see him steal things from chests while you’re gone, like the raptors from Alex’s caves
@@idk_someguy you could also add a feature where the game checks if you have a trophy room by scanning for important items like armor on armor stands, the dragon egg, etc and whenever he would send you a gift you could decide to place it in your trophy room to increase his relationship with you making him leave you alone for a few days (2 or 3). obviously this would only work once every 20 days or something (cooldown starts after he starts to show up again) to prevent players from abusing it and making him not show up at all.
maybe make it so he makes a little home in a cave nearby the players house, by waiting several days after you set your spawn point at a bed and if the spawn point doesn't change he'll pick a random spot nearby to put his "den" at because he wants to live by you. occasionally when you leave your house (after going like a couple hundred blocks away from your bed) he'll go into your chests and take items, bringing them back to his den and hanging them in item frames. it would drive players crazy cause they keep losing items and spook them a bit when they find the den and realize their stalker has been stealing their stuff while they're away
@@Dice-Z well they could make it so it steals less valuable items, like he goes and takes wood or low level tools. not diamonds, god apples, netherite and such, he wants stuff that's yours so he has something of yours and doesn't want to inconvenience or annoy you
@@Crypticat OMG Imagine that the obsessed favorite thing to take from you it's tools that are really wasted, because it knows you have used them a lot before
I have a monster idea. How about the cultist, heres the twist tough. They worship you. The cultist will do a variety of different things depending on what you do. If you start a large farm he will believe you are the god of agriculture, there will be new crops in your farm that you didnt plant. If you go on a monster killing spree and you do it consistently, it will believe that you are the god of monster hunting, it will leave monsters heads on fence posts infront of your house. If you tame a dog and it dies you have a chance of finding an allready tamed wolf on your doorstep. These are only a few. You can sometimes find redstone cyrcles that werent there before whit your skins head in the middle.
Bro it’s embarrassing how bad that jump scare got me, I’m an avid horror enjoyer, so I’m used to jump scares but this one, oh my god, I didn’t even have time to scream, I almost legitimately threw my phone, I flinched so bad. This mod is amazing
Y’know what would be a cool mechanic? If The Obsessed could leave signs, like Alex (the mod) can. Since he is an obsessive stalker, and he wants to be with (I assume in a romantic sense) the player, it would make sense if he left creepy love notes or messages. Really cool mod, I can’t wait to see what The Obsessed’s end goal is!
So I've realised a few things with this mod watching your two videos and reading the comments (I'm invested), and I want to buil more onto the ideas to maybe help you with modding more specifically: 1. I've notices that The Obsessed only seems to come out at night (considering you're the most paranoid then), and I thought that it'd be better if player keeps sleeping through the night (which is what I would do lol my most pressing concern), it gets more daring to start stalking during the day too, and maybe more agitated. 2. When the player is mining, building, farming, fishing, walking and other activities, it'd be fun (NOT) if there could be a gradual acceleration of The Obsessed's soundeffects (heavy breathing, footsteps, heartbeat, groans, whines, growling, as stated by others in the comment section). Once the player stops moving for like, 3-4 seconds, the sounds abruptly cease because the entity has realized it was too loud and we noticed it. 3. As it starts following the player more and more, it could start peeking around the corners of trees, blocks and mines. It could perhaps start at around 20-30 blocks of distance from the player, but once the curser zeroes onto it, it just ducks behing the obstacle and disappears. As the ingame days pass, it gets more confident and starts getting closer, up to 5-10 blocks. It'd be terrifying then that you could just turn around and see it standing behind you so close, maybe with the breathing and similar soundeffects. Naturally, the player would freeze in place with the curser on the entity, and once the move even the slightest, it ducks back and disappears. 4. Anything openable, doors, trapdoors, chests and fences, should just open for no reason whatsoever (Chests only when player is in proximity because they cant stay open and only emit sound. It doesn't even have to touch/rearrange/steal anything. It's just admiring the players items.) This doesn't need to include the entities presence, it could just be a detail at random that sometimes happens and sometimes doesn't. 5. I saw a comment on the previous video how when hit by it, the player could experience the nauseous, slowness and blindness effect. Maybe add the wither effect or something with some damage, but if the player has little health, the damage isn't too big. It doesn't want to kill us after all. 6. I think that adding hostile mobs would be a good addition. Since we know The Obsessed doesn't want to hurt us, it gives us a distraction fighting other mobs that we can forget there's a bigger problem to deal with. Perhaps when The Obsessed is watching/close to us, the mobs disappear completely, as if it's scaring them away for us. A little tell that adds onto that 'feeling watched' feeling. The player knows that means The Obsessed is close, yet they can't see it, or hear it. But it can feel its presence and the distant quiet soundeffect of it. (Cave ambiance is maybe completely negated when its close) (Also kind of like some nostalgic herobrine things I've seen lolo) 7. Gifting us items is a bit eh, since people are already trying to make it into a dating sim. HOWEVER, having it give items with enchantments such as curse of binding and vanishing, and if the player loses that item The Obsessed becomes more aggressive, giving player more damage and longer lasting effects if it hits them... that's a better premise in my opinion. The player would have to keep it in a chest to prevent The Obsessed from getting hostile, but in return making it even more obsessed with them that they're keeping something of it's. It could maybe instead gift player mysterious potions it cooked up and rotten flesh. (Maybe if the player wears the curse of binding armor The obsessed becomes more passive, but it also presents a threat of dying and loosing the piece of armor and making it hostile) 👇Please like or comment if any of you agree with my suggestions!
Jump scares after a while become bland, but when the horror makes you go insane from your mind and surroundings then you know it will forever be horrifying.
I don't know if its possible but it would be cool trhat the obsessed sometimes peek at you from behind a block, and when you look at him he hides completely and dissapears
Bro you went from making high quality video to insane mods as well. You have been continuously growing in skill and I'm all here for it. Great vid and keep it up!
Ok so a cool idea for this mod. So he ( the obsessed) kidnaps you and brings you to his cave where he has been crafting the things you recently made. Oh and also another cool idea is in the end for you to be able to tame him in some kind of way maybe ( getting close to him without fear to show HIM that YOU want to be with HIM). After he is tamed he’ll just follow you and protect you like Minecraft’s dogs.
If this is a mob that's obsessed with you, I think in multiplayer it woud be cool if it only attacks those that are not the obsession. or when the gifts are added, tamed pets that you own are killed or an item that was in the inventory of a player it's killed (prioritising named items) are given to the obsession. ngl all of your mods with proximity chat and hardcore sound so cool to play with.
#idea: create more sounds to trigger for the creature under certain conditions. Such as: 1. Glass- hand rubbing against glass sound/tapping sound. 2. Planks- scratching sound 3. Door- knocking/tapping sound 4. Water- sploosh sound effect (like if the players nearby it quickly dives into the water)/ if it was in the water you can hear the water dripping from its form 5. Leaf/Grass- Rustling sound
To make it more immersive, you could have it so the obsessed hurts or kills anything you show a lot of attention to. So attending the farm, he could ruin it as he wants to be “attended” to. Or for farm animals, if you feed them consistently, the obsessed might hurt or kill them in order to get your attention more. Same with dogs or pet animals. I think that would make it more interactive and definitely make you think about him and his presence more
a great feature to add (if possilbe) would be on very rare occasions to have him run up to you from a distance at a super fast pace and just stare at you, then run away. it would be a great jumpscare but it would have to be super rare
I hope things like it leaving “gifts” for you or even your chest being moved and “organized”, maybe making it harming animals that you tame or interact with would add to the horror
I think one #idea for this mod would be to punish Players that get too bold and draw near The Obsessed or try to attack it. However, I think it should "attack" back in a different manner. Instead of the typical minecraft violence, I think the Obsessed should steal the item that the Player attacked it with and run away with it. Most Players will probably encounter this entity in the early game, usually with stone or iron tools, so it shouldn't be that big of a loss. It should also take whatever it was attacked with, regardless if it was a tool or not. (If you hit it with a piece of bread, it will steal the bread) This will help to discourage Players from attacking or interacting with the entity and getting too bold in it's presence. I also recommend set pieces that can spawn in the world that contain lore or items that involve The Obsessed. Maybe you're not its first victim? Who knows?
Now THIS is the type of build up to horror I adore at 18:43 You and your devs are knocking this out of the park, even more so than with the Manbear which was impressive enough on its own. A+ design philosophy and the execution so far is fantastic! Excited to maybe experience this some day!
I haven't seen the whole video yet, I know it's gonna be awesome. I have some ideas. 1. Rather than wandering around like other mobs around the base and stuff, it can just semi hide behind a tree and look at you, until you notice it and it just disappears. 2. It can break distinct but unnoticeable blocks. 3. It can rearrange your chest items/take a random item away. 4. It can run past your windows and doors when you are looking at said window or door rather quickly to give a spook. 5. It can wander around but further away from the player and it must be a foggy place rather than just in plain view. 6. It can make sounds which mimic the player or make sounds when it's near a player in their house or in their cave. {for example: scratching noises, footsteps, heavy breathing, falling/thrown rock, cave footsteps.) 7. It can randomly murder your animals that you keep in a pen. 8. If you have a dog, the dog can bark at nothing or run away when in it's presence and a chance for the dog to attack and then killed off screen, without even a death message, just suspense. I really like YOUR mods in particular, because it isn't pretty much just forced jumpscares and then the creature runs at you to attack you and kill you. I really like suspension and actual creep factor in horror games/mods. P.S: it's best not to add an indicator that it's around via noise like the cave dweller when it spawns. Either it just spawns or it completely mutes minecraft music and the suspense just hits or it can wait for the music to stop and then it stops the music and not play anything until the player notices.
Bro the end man. I haven't been jumpscared like that in a while. This is seriously S tier horror and The Obsessed is such an interesting creature. The smoke really added such an ominous tension too. Idk what kind of entity The Obsessed is, but I sense that he's not like The Dweller or The Manbear who simply wants to kill the player. Maybe The Obsessed is all about inflicting as much psychological torment as possible. The Obsessed will not physically end you, but mentally torture you until you rot away. That's what makes him scary. (Or at least that's just what I'm thinking. If you're looking for lore feel free to take inspiration from this interpretation) Keep up the good work man, you're amazing!
yessss i’ve been so excited for your upload i’ve been looking forward to a new video, you’re fr my favorite minecraft youtuber rn thanks for making these videos and mods
What we’re looking at here feels like terror with occasional horror. A lingering dread that you’re not alone, and the eventual confirmation of that fear. Subnautica, for example, uses terror to great effect.
It would be really intriguing if maybe some of his sound cues was like- footsteps, bushes rustling, or maybe with whatever you faced at the end, maybe he was like... crying or laughing quietly or something? Anything to lure the player out and get their attention, just like he wants? Bonus points if he DOES follow you into the caves or leaves things for you like food or minerals- but accepting his gifts makes the player more at risk of being stalked more frequently.
You see, i love concepts like this where it has an element of horror, but also upon further analysis of the creatures behavior, you can feel sympathetic for the monster. Like he said, it's goal isn't to harm the player, it just wants what any other person does. Companionship. It just doesn't understand it's actions are unerving, and considered scary to it's "prey". I also love that the only reason it's considered scary, is because it operates off of the basic human fear of the unknown. The player doesn't know what it actually wants, all the player knows is that they want to stay alive. But the obsessed knows it wants to be with the player, it just doesn't know how to achieve said goal. Personally, i like all the suggestions people have been providing in the comments. I have my own though. Alongside the flowers it eaves outside your base (was mentioned to be coming in a future update i think), maybe implement a system where it becomes more "comfortable" with the player. Letting itself get seen more often, leaving "gifts" like sticks, sand, leaves, (basically things that arent overpowered), or hell, if you want to go the super creepy stalker route, have it take things the player interacts with when the player leaves their base for a long period of time. Stuff like armor, furnaces, crafting tables, the players bed, things it can tell are important to the player. Almost like it's wanting a piece of you to take with it.
I know I'm getting far ahead of myself, but since you and the other devs working on the mod has the idea of this thing kidnapping the player, I would also suggest adding a feature were if he had failed to get you 2 or 3 times, he'll find out where your base is, (or at least where you sleep). Then the next time the player sleeps, the Obsessed will try to break into player's base and go to where the player sleeps. When he gets to the player sleeping, he'll hover over them for 4 seconds, tilt his head to the right, then grab the player, instantly teleporting them to wherever the Obsessed would've taken the player the first 2 or 3 times. The player won't be able to exit their bed when this happens.
Psychological horror is my favorite type. The jumpcare horror is nice too when it’s done right but it can be pretty predictable; psychological horror can be literally anything and that’s what I like about it.
i lost pogress on my comment but timestamps❤ 9:33 encouter 15:27 another encounter 17:00 no we did not 17:18 maybe 17:45 what is bro doing 😂 18:25 ending encounter the comment has less funny timestamps cuz i lost my comment 😢
Horror is about messing with your mind. There is no horror without fear and if a mod becomes predictable, it’s not scary. That’s why I love these mods so much. So unpredictable and it just builds paranoia
That ending was intense. That anticipation, fear of the unknown lurking in the shadows and than the suprise attack. That fog effect was really nice. One could mimic strong rain with wind in Minecraft with that.
This is one of the unique mobs I have ever seen in a Minecraft mod, ever. The level of production for your mods is impressive, and continues to get better and better!
I feel like the problem with most horror mods is that they are not incorporated into standard minecraft gameplay too well. "Dwellers" are pretty much "oh, here's a timer, once it passes the spook will chase you around, but won't do much else". And counter to most of them is hiding in a building - which is the same as how you evade every other minecraft mob. And this is why I think the "infection mods" (prime example is "scape and run") are one of the scariest: it's unrelenting pressure that challenges you even in building, since it mirrors how player behaves: it gathers some bare minimum resources, it settles and slowly starts to expand while gathering resources, which it also uses to get stronger. In a way, it basically yells "keep an eye on me, else you won't be ready when I strike". "The Obsessed" nails that "keep an eye at all times", because due to it mostly stalking the player and not attacking will lead to player eventually either: a) letting their guard down or b) getting so paranoid it interferes with their progress
#Idea: I assume the end goal for your creature is to eventually kidnap the player. So to “enhance” the experience you can make it take longer than usual to skip the night using a bed maybe make them wait 20-30 seconds and make that time really uncomfortable like really put into the players mind how helpless they are laying down in bed
The screen slowly darkening until fully black would be amazing! And then you suddenly wake up to a bright day. It gives a chance that the second or two before you fully black out you could maybe see the silhouette of the monster! Would you mind if i added your idea to my comment, I want to compile all the ones I think are good. Ill credit you appropriately!
I hate (and love) the way it runs, it's so... naturally unnatural, It's Minecraft, it should walk weird like any other mob, but it looks like it's walking normally.
Okey I actually flinched. U should make him wisper stuff like „i love u“ and such yandere stuff. Like him placing roses around ur house or setting a chest with bloody Meet in it in shape of a heart or eye. Or just a pic of u in a map. Or if u interact with a villager that he kills him.
What if after a while of stalking you, if your on low health while being chased by hostile mobs, the Obsessed will run up, kill the mobs and run off again. It makes sense too, it can't watch you if you die so it protects you for its own sake. Also, if you accept all of the Obsessed gifts and chase after it, it'll see that as reciprocating love and kidnap you in your sleep. Imagine waking up in an uncanny replica of your base, tied up, with the Obsessed watching you constantly...
The thing you heard in the cave was just one of the default cave sounds. Minecraft basically has a meter that fills up when in caves, and when it reaches 100%, it plays one of the cave sounds. I am excited to see how your mods develop, and hope they eventually are available for everyone.
I completely agree. Horror to me personally isn't jumpscares or loud sounds that blow out my ears. It's all about wondering if you are watched at all times, even if you aren't. I love psychological and atmosphere horror. It's all about the ambience. And as you said, they don't even have to attack. I want that constant dread of going around the next corner, or delving deeper into the caves. If an entity made your heart jump, or is generally making you disturbed or unsettled, they are doing their job. I've seen some of your Manbear and Obsessed vids as well and can't wait to see their public release.
I think the Obsessed should sometimes loiter around you. Not like he's trying to do anything to you, but rather it's entranced by watching you. It might get comfortable, standing still till approached and then he runs. He should also like, be obsessed with your belongings. I think he should mimic you, maybe building small things and making replicas of your home. I know that's a lot to code though, so stealing blocks works. I also believe that it should try to get close when you're not looking. standing behind you while you craft in a menu for awhile, but runs when you get out of it.
I'd like to think this mod has the potential to be kinda wholesome but ONLY IF you do, like, some very specific things to de-escalate his obsession or sum shi. it would take away the horror factor (if done right, it could *increase* the horror factor), but this is just a random thing I thought up while rewatching this vid for the 12th time. (I don't even play minecraft, I have been thinking about the mod for 4 days straight. I could write a book on it...). ALSO ADDING *LORE* FOR THIS ENTITY/CREATURE WOULD BE SO DAMN COOL.
Imagine the monster running into your house while it baited you Outside with the smoke. Only to hide on the second floor for you to discover when you get inside again.
I’m not sure how hard this would be to implement but here a few ideas you could implement its possible. You can make it so, when you are a certain block radius from your spawn point he’ll path find into the door (and give him a creepy door entering animation) so if you look back you can see him entering and going through your things and moving items around. First you could also implement it so it seems like he’s trying to be your friend and he’ll gift you alright items like maybe gold ingots or flowers and make it gradually creepier and more intense. Every once in a while he’ll leave animal heads or start breaking things if you don’t do certain task. You could also pair it with the speech mod so he can hear what you’re saying and will respond with hello or stuff like that. Another idea is when you’re sleeping you could make it so you can see like it’s figure standing or leaning on you like a sleeping paralysis nightmare or even breathing into your left or right ear. One last idea is to make it so when you sleep you have a very small chance of entering a dream where you think you wake up and you can’t open doors and he’ll just be standing in front of your bed and stare at you and get closer and closer and everything will get darker and darker until he picks you up and acts like he’s gonna eat you and then you wake up.
Smile would be a good movie to watch. It’s probably one of the best psychological horror I’ve seen and there a few things I think you could implement into Minecraft.
I think it would be supremely hilarious if in the end version of this mod he was straight up passive, just scares your ass and goes away. Like even if you chase him he’ll run off and whatnot. Also I’ll admit, that jump scare at the end got me lol
The sound at 9:35 was in fact a cave sound. It was cave sound 4 aka "roar"
The Obsessed has to be one of the most scariest humanoid figures I've seen
That is what we need for most horror mods they need effort and time and dedication no copy paste
Make him help you
Like he comes into your house truh the windows and Put an chest whit a mensagem and a gift next you your bad while you sleep
Also make him atack other players that arent his obsession and add an sanity bar

You could have him make slight breathing noises along with footsteps with maybe corner peeping like leaning

It does in the next update
@@idk_someguy Yooo! That’s sick!!!
What if if you kill a certain amount of animals he starts leaving deceased animals close to your door or bed as a gift :)
He'll also bring you gifts in the form of items you last gathered, but don't accept these gifts because that will enable his creepy behavior.
if it gets trapped in the Nether maybe a nether portal would appear near wherever the players spawn point is

But I would say that the idea there is many is a lot scarier then the cult (but then the cult idea is terrifying as well)

i enjoy the fresh take with 'The Obsessed', lot of other minecraft horror mods relies on some bloodthirsty mindless violent monster hunting you down, but the Obsessed doesn't seem intent on killing you (yet at least), it's more curious than anything, at first merely stalking you and then now trying to attack (or perhaps just scare you a little for fun?).
0:08 to be fair, yes that is what horror means, but not necessarily what fear means. Fear can also be that slow burn. In other words, *terror.*

SPOILERS:
My & Developers idea for the mod is that there is a relationship system which improves/decreases depending on player choices, such as discarding an item The Obsessed gave to you.
@@idk_someguy So basically the equivalent of a yandere lol
@@idk_someguyOh my god I’m crying at the idea, ITS SO GOOD THOUGH- OMG
@@idk_someguy you could also add a feature where the game checks if you have a trophy room by scanning for important items like armor on armor stands, the dragon egg, etc and whenever he would send you a gift you could decide to place it in your trophy room to increase his relationship with you making him leave you alone for a few days (2 or 3). obviously this would only work once every 20 days or something (cooldown starts after he starts to show up again) to prevent players from abusing it and making him not show up at all.
these mods are always so refreshing since they actually build up to the scares without being too in your face
maybe make it so he makes a little home in a cave nearby the players house, by waiting several days after you set your spawn point at a bed and if the spawn point doesn't change he'll pick a random spot nearby to put his "den" at because he wants to live by you. occasionally when you leave your house (after going like a couple hundred blocks away from your bed) he'll go into your chests and take items, bringing them back to his den and hanging them in item frames. it would drive players crazy cause they keep losing items and spook them a bit when they find the den and realize their stalker has been stealing their stuff while they're away
thats actually a really good idea i hope this is added at some point
Not bad but it could lead to frustration, and if you're frustrated you're not scared.

So I've realised a few things with this mod watching your two videos and reading the comments (I'm invested), and I want to buil more onto the ideas to maybe help you with modding more specifically:
(Cave ambiance is maybe completely negated when its close) (Also kind of like some nostalgic herobrine things I've seen lolo)
7. (Maybe if the player wears the curse of binding armor The obsessed becomes more passive, but it also presents a threat of dying and loosing the piece of armor and making it hostile)
👇Please like or comment if any of you agree with my suggestions!

Jump scares after a while become bland, but when the horror makes you go insane from your mind and surroundings then you know it will forever be horrifying.

I don't know if its possible but it would be cool trhat the obsessed sometimes peek at you from behind a block, and when you look at him he hides completely and dissapears

yes sirr. you were here since the start 😎😎😎
Now THAT'S how you build up tension to release a jumpscare. Nearly shat myself
Psychological horror can be terrifying. Not because a monster chases you or attacks you, but because they don't
This is a psychological horror mod o-o, losing the main cause of fear would remove the entire point of the psychological horror mod
Also sounds for climbing certain materials

Who knows?
Now THIS is the type of build up to horror I adore at 18:43
You and your devs are knocking this out of the park, even more so than with the Manbear which was impressive enough on its own.
A+ design philosophy and the execution so far is fantastic!
Excited to maybe experience this some day!
This is probably the best horror mod I’ve ever seen ngl
That jumpscare was… scary
{for example: scratching noises, footsteps, heavy breathing, falling/thrown rock, cave footsteps.)
Either it just spawns or it completely mutes minecraft music and the suspense just hits or it can wait for the music to stop and then it stops the music and not play anything until the player notices.
nah that ending was so weird, but because of that presence feeling before, it was so scary
nah you coulda picked me up from the floor if the obsessed appeared in the cave id cry
kinda creepy and sweet at the same time how he doesn't wanna hurt you and just loves you.
*cutely breaks into ur house while ur mining and fills ur chest with notes*
Bro the end man. I haven't been jumpscared like that in a while. This is seriously S tier horror and The Obsessed is such an interesting creature. The smoke really added such an ominous tension too.
Idk what kind of entity The Obsessed is, but I sense that he's not like The Dweller or The Manbear who simply wants to kill the player. Maybe The Obsessed is all about inflicting as much psychological torment as possible. The Obsessed will not physically end you, but mentally torture you until you rot away. That's what makes him scary.
(Or at least that's just what I'm thinking. If you're looking for lore feel free to take inspiration from this interpretation)
Keep up the good work man, you're amazing!
yessss i’ve been so excited for your upload i’ve been looking forward to a new video, you’re fr my favorite minecraft youtuber rn thanks for making these videos and mods
yes sirrr
The sound where you quit the game its just normal cave sounds, they always been in the game and new updates sometimes they add few new ones
Havn't played MC in almost a decade or so. I remember that cave noise lol.
He just wanted to say hi 18:30
Almost like it's wanting a piece of you to take with it.
nah not the bed. it has our smell on it 💀
I know I'm getting far ahead of myself, but since you and the other devs working on the mod has the idea of this thing kidnapping the player, I would also suggest adding a feature were if he had failed to get you 2 or 3 times, he'll find out where your base is, (or at least where you sleep).
The player won't be able to exit their bed when this happens.
i saw the arm before the jumpscare. still absolutely shit myself
Psychological horror is my favorite type. The jumpcare horror is nice too when it’s done right but it can be pretty predictable; psychological horror can be literally anything and that’s what I like about it.
i lost pogress on my comment but timestamps❤
9:33 encouter
15:27 another encounter
17:00 no we did not
17:18 maybe
17:45 what is bro doing 😂
18:25 ending encounter
the comment has less funny timestamps cuz i lost my comment 😢
Horror is about messing with your mind. There is no horror without fear and if a mod becomes predictable, it’s not scary. That’s why I love these mods so much. So unpredictable and it just builds paranoia
That jumpscare scared the shit out of me! I thought it was stuck and suddenly it was jumping towards you!
also, i think it would be really neat if the obsessed sometimes left messages in chat or even on signs, or even books!
That ending was intense. That anticipation, fear of the unknown lurking in the shadows and than the suprise attack.
That fog effect was really nice. One could mimic strong rain with wind in Minecraft with that.
As someone who loves obsession in horror I cannot wait for this mod to be released, I will probably play it non-stop lol
18:31 the first jumpscare to REALLY scare me in ages, like, thats rare nowadays.
This is one of the unique mobs I have ever seen in a Minecraft mod, ever. The level of production for your mods is impressive, and continues to get better and better!
When you do add sound, I recommend creepy heavy breathing when he is near, but not too loud, so you have to pay attention to hear if he is near
maybe you could make it walk away sometimes, rather than run away
that calmness would add to the psychological horror I think
I am excited to see how your mods develop, and hope they eventually are available for everyone.
that ending was nasty work, can’t wait to see this mod with all the kinks worked out!
Him not knowing what a cave sound was was the funniest part 😂
But this mod is probably the first mod to actually make me a little unnerved
I completely agree. Horror to me personally isn't jumpscares or loud sounds that blow out my ears. It's all about wondering if you are watched at all times, even if you aren't. I love psychological and atmosphere horror. It's all about the ambience. And as you said, they don't even have to attack. I want that constant dread of going around the next corner, or delving deeper into the caves. If an entity made your heart jump, or is generally making you disturbed or unsettled, they are doing their job. I've seen some of your Manbear and Obsessed vids as well and can't wait to see their public release.
WOOO NEW VIDEO!!! That jumpscare at the end tho got me pretty bad...
It's the psychological part thats truly scary, the jumpscare or confrontation is just icing on the cake.
I THOUGHT YOU SAID HE WAS CHILL
Great work, btw. The tension was so high birds were running into it ❤
I think the Obsessed should sometimes loiter around you.
This mod is pretty crazy, wonder if they’ll be any more updates later on
It would be hella creepy if he saw an open door to your base, he would immediately and quietly run up to get inside.
18:31 Welp, that´s my heart rate peaking.
This mod is really fucking effective at what it does and it´s only in it´s early stages💀
him getting jumpscared by a cave sound is proof that this mod builds enough psychological tension that even vanilla features can terrify someone
bro learnt a new word, tweaking... also i got a jump scare at the end😭
I dont usually get full on jump scared but i was caught off guard with that last few seconds
I love the creepy vibes
Dude this is freaking amazing.
If this mod gets released, then I hope it doesn't get ruined by copycats.
I think the obsessed should be able to knock on your door, that would make him even more scary.
That's some pretty unsettling ideas.
I think it would be supremely hilarious if in the end version of this mod he was straight up passive, just scares your ass and goes away. Like even if you chase him he’ll run off and whatnot.
Also I’ll admit, that jump scare at the end got me lol
