Loved the video, specially how you used a creepy version of a calm song when taking about insanity while using a happy version of a creepy song when talking about recovering sanity.
I think the first two songs are from a fight with a monster who you realize has a depressing story if you remember who "Snowy" is from the first part of the game. It either is a slowed version of the snow area near the start of the game, or its own theme. The second song is a slowed down version of the Shop theme, found in Snowdin's store and the MTT Resort's store. The reason why it's slowed down is because the character so far has gone out of their way to kill every monster in every area for EXP. So of course the general "mood" of the underground is going to be a tense sadness. The third song is Lavender Town from (I believe) Gold and Silver, specifically the remakes on the DS for the extra instruments. Taking place after the events of Red and Green, and allegedly (I never played the games) it is because the ghosts in the tower / graveyard have moved on or something, now being a radio station by the time Ethan / Lyra come around. Hence, why a normally depressing song in Red's adventure, is no longer so during Ethan's.
I appreciate you making a video showcasing a single mod. It’s so hard to find straightforward videos about individual mods these days because everyone wants to farm views with modpack playthroughs
I really love all the inspiration this mod takes from Don't Starve's sanity mechanic. Don't Starve is one of my favorite games and stuff like this is always really cool to see
They should either make it so potting flowers restores 0 sanity, or make it so that taking one out takes the same amount of sanity as putting one in, or breaking the potted plant also reducing your sanity by the same amount as planting it. That way players can't just take a flower pot and a single dandelion and make an infinite sanity generator on day 1. That would nullify this mod completely. Also, if it's not already, I would love to see some sort of high configuration with this mod so we could do stuff like make our own 'classes' or 'characters' using the Origins mod. That way if we wanted to we could take something like the planting of flowers/seeds perk and combine it with the 'Ent' class to make a Minecraft version of Wormwood from the actual DST game (just as a proof of concept.) Due to Origins basically being reduced to a datapack now, this combined with the sanity mod should make for an insane level of customization. As for the 'hunting' lowering your sanity, I think it should be heavily reduced or outright removed as players in the actual DST game don't lose stats from hunting basic friendly creatures like rabbits and only modded ones do, with the exception of Walter who takes sanity damage when he's attacked and constantly loses sanity when not at full health, but otherwise takes no sanity penalty from darkness or monsters. I say 'removed outright' because I saw a showcase of this mod about a week or two ago and the player in the video killed like 5 passive mobs and went fully insane to the point it started spawning the shadow creatures to attack and kill them. By like a minute in they were already being hunted to death by their own insanity and they hadn't even gotten to stone tools yet, so the drain from killing passive creatures should definitely be tweaked, like a lot. (Especially if you're not a vegan and play Minecraft like normal wherein you kill the first few mobs you see for some starting food and then ultimately set up a decent farm for Cooked Porkchops or Steak until you can sustain yourself with Golden Carrots, which is usually a late-game thing with gold farms unless you make a mass trading hall and repeatedly cure villagers, which will soon be heavily nerfed in the near future.)
I already imagine players listening to music discs and running around path blocks, screaming "I'm very much sane, yeah". Pretty interesting mod, something similar to everywhere at the end of time music. And maybe the Delirium mechanic from Path of Exile game

I would go even worse on the low sanity effects, sometimes you "take damage" (not real damage, After a few seconds It goes back to normal) sometimes you see normal mobs that aren't there for a few seconds, sometimes you can't see normal mobs for a few seconds, for a few seconds the Key bindings get inverter.. instead of constant wispers more erratic noises (more likely tobhear the noises of a mob you are allucinating, and when talking allucinatory damage you are more likely to allucinate the noises of a mob that does an equivalent ammount). Get random status effects like slow, blind, nausea, mining fatigue. All of these with an ever increasing chance of happening and duration as your sanity gets lower The objective should be to make the players themselves doubt their moves and surroundings Was that an invisibile mob that dealt you damage and/or made noises or was It an allucination? Fill the players with these questions

This mod is actually pretty cool for things like single player, taking into consideration just how lonely and eerie playing Minecraft on single player mode can get- what with how unbelievably vast the world size is, how full of monsters it gets at night, and how it really is just you in that world, all alone.
I think this mod would be cooler if there were not only "sanity", but also a "stress" So it's like when something bad happens to you, like restraint, getting wet and other pretty normal stuff - it would increase your stress, not lower your sanity But sanity will get lower when alone in the dark, or without a sleep for a long time and encounters with mobs and etc. It's just like "stress" would be as multiplier to your sanity loss. If you chill, you won't lost that much of sanity in any situation, but if you have your stress at maximum - then everything will make sanity go lower. And yeah, it's just my opinion and with that mechanic it would be almost completely new mod. But I think it would be more logical and understandable
I like your idea but make it more like: Sanity takes much longer to drain on its own however it cannot passively increase or decrease like stress can thus making it harder to manage instead. Stress can quickly increase and decrease so it can get maxed out quickly or just as quickly decreases. However, the higher it is, the more sensitive insanity decreasing actions have on the characters' psychological mind but on the other spectrum, if the Stress is lower to none at all. Actions that would increase your sanity will become much more effective than if stress was neutral or higher.
instead of being actively punished for being wet, being out in the rain or in the water should make punishments harder, like getting hurt or drowning; i for one like exploring underwater and have underwater mods, and i feel like the basis of life shouldn't punish you like that
Hm, maybe sanity stays neutral when swimming near the surface but gradually decreases when you swim in 15-20 ft of the ocean? That could be a work-around, and maybe sanity decreases very slowly when at 15 ft but gradually increases when you go deeper into the ocean. What do you think?
Awesome mod and showcase. The mod just needs some incentive to go insane, get special items, and come back to sanity. Just like don’t starve. That’s such a fun feature.
fun fact: if your playing multiplayer, and someone sanity is low and the monsters attack him, other players cant see the mobs is they have sanity full or the level before the mobs appear, but the thing is that if 2 players have 0 sanity, they wont see the same mobs, each player sees something diffrent from the others whit 0% sanity, or highter but in the zone where the monsters appear, so if someone is getting attacked by a monster when they have low sanity, other players wont know what is attacking them
I like how you added corrupted snowdin music to the first part of the video talking about the negative effects to emcompass the feeling of dread and losing your mind
One of the monsters should be called hungry example (attack the player). another calls alone (he can see abandoned sitting, it scares you and he leaves) and another fear (it will scare you sometimes or you can hear it and it can still attack you) I find it a curious mod reflected in mental disorders
It literally is, the mod page outright states as much lol The only thing different is it seems to be missing any incentive to be insane - there's no nightmare fuel or similar material dropped exclusively from the shadow creatures mentioned anywhere.
I would like dying to be a fact that reduces sanity, precisely to avoid dying. It would be good for you to be reborn with a little more sanity than when you died and staying still in place after being reborn would increase your sanity enough for the mobs not to attack you, but to increase it more than that you need to do other activities. This would make me much more worried about dying, and it would take me a lot of work to recover after each death.
This mod has so much potential, add things that you can only do when you are sane, and vice versa. Why not ores or drops that only drop when you are insane, just like in don’t starve
I feel the "getting wet" and "teleporting through dimentsion) to lose sanity is a bit too punishing for doing a simple (and normal, in the context of minecraft) action. It should probably be changed to "drowning" and "staying too long in the Nether/End". Also, it's funny how you lose Sanity from attacking animals, but not villagers.
Honestly this is a really cool concept maintains your sanity. Gives me amnesia vibes. I haven’t seen many mods try to do this sort of thing. It’s unique and the whispering voices, vision getting blurry, everything going black and white, seeing figures that’s very creepy. It’s neat it’s a bar you have to take care of, much like we have to take care of our minds and mental health in real life. The only thing I don’t like about it is the hurting animals. I get it, but that’s a main source of food in the game other than fishing or farming. So maybe that needs to be changed.
i think to redesign the swimming reducing your sanity, swimming should increase your sanity when you're in a small source of water such as a river or pool. but rain would decrease it, because it's unpleasant.
So basically, this mod turns the game into a worse version of Don’t Starve. Don’t get me wrong, in concept, this is a pretty good idea, but Don’t Starve and Minecraft are two different games. Things like getting wet shouldn’t make you crazy.
I think being wet for TOO long should make you crazy I love rain and walking/running in the rain, but being in it for >2-3 hours will definitely drive me nuts
it be cooler if the voices where less obvious and they would fade from time to time, thats like hearing a mosquito in your room but your never sure if its really there. your mind kinda tricks you into thinking the sound is still there.
This mod is an great difficulty addition, but also and more importantly,a great message to take care of yourself in real life. All these effects, altough not always like in games, can apply to the real you if you don't take care of your own mind. When you're not okay, do things you enjoy, things that calm you down, hangout with people, talk about your problems, don't drown in your fears and the darkness. The game becomes ten times more enjoyable when you're actually doing good. Take care of yourself gamers, or you might not be there to play anymore.
I really like the mod showcase format you have as well as your editing. it feels like not only a showcase but a guide. There isn't any text or music/sounds that feel out of place for a minecraft video. Super underrated, love your stuff!
the effect that made So Cold was just an algorithm. You could definitely run a Minecraft music disc through it for the same effect but with more Minecraft theming
An interesting yet unique concept for Players & how they interact in their worlds, the Genocidal/reckless players get punished harshly while the more passive/empathetic have it easy. I can easily tell this can help people & thier mindsets in a few mod packs & other playthroughs that revolve around other players, this is definitely a good mod.
this is cool and all, but I think there should be more crossover with Don't starve with the mobs, things like Beardlings and those giant shadow monsters. I'd also really like a new dimension, one where the portal is only open if you're insane.
having you be punished for going into water when theres water caves, ocean monuments, underwater biomes and a lot more stuff to do with water seems like a bad idea. Thank god this mod is configurable.
Hey cool video, really felt the horror vibes! Theres a mod called the headhunter mod that seems really cool, would really like to see you review that one if you can
I feel that something that would be good for the mod would be the benefits of having a mentaly healthy (like the overlast srp addon mod). because I feel that it is more of a mechanic to make everything more difficult (like the typical one of thirst and heat) than a mechanic that rewards the player for understanding it or punishes him for not understanding it
It would be so cool to play with with a cooking mechanic, so you had to eat cooked food in the mines that you had to put time into, and there were stakes to sustaining yourself besides just dying, and a hydration mod to mix in would be so nice. Lovely mod you have here
I get that it's Don't starves sanity system however, some of the things don't translate and make sense in Minecraft. For example getting wet shouldn't decrease your sanity, something like that works and don't starve because there's really nothing positive that comes from water and don't starve apart from growing crops, however in Minecraft it's pretty much the exact opposite. Especially with the fact that you are able to actually physically swim, which is very healthy. So if anything swimming should INCREASE sanity. Also i would understand if going to the nether decreases sanity, because you are literally going to hell. However again, I don't think teleporting between dimensions itself should drain sanity, this isn't Warhammer, so if anything we're turning to the ove world should INCREASE sanity, probably the same amount of sanity gained as sanity lost when traveling to the nether to keep it equal. Just being around flowers should give you sanity like it does in the game, and fighting passive or neutral mobs shouldn't decrease sanity, because again that's not a thing in don't starve. When I was looking at this mod I thought it was just going to be a horror mod outright with a unique idea, but seeing as you are specifically saying it is attempting to replicate the same sanity mechanic as in "dont starve", there are things that should work a certain way and can be held to certain expectations
I think that you should add some characteristics caused by cerebral issues. There could be a small chance of your character be generated as a psycopath and this will make him, instead of losing sanity by killing animals and trampling farmlands, gain sanity. The character could also be generated as a schizophrenic, which will make him lose more sanity by seeing minecraft original monsters, staying in the dark and the added monsters could appear faster for him. If the character was born normal, nothing would change from what was showed in this video.
Or you could stop being a massive goddamn ableist for one second and not demonize people for things they can't control. Also that's not how psychopathy/sociopathy or schizophrenia work AT ALL.
Well if you think about it you might get itchy from whatever was in the water, your clothes get heavy and soggy, there’s nothing to dry yourself off like a towel so it will take forever just to naturally dry off, you get all the dirt and other things from the ground stick to you, you might get cold or get sick, basically you would be kinda miserable if you got wet with nothing to dry yourself off so you lose sanity in mc
Don't Starve gives his regards! Although I'm thankful killing mobs doesn't decrease sanity in Don't Starve. Would've been a nightmare for some characters.
The one that slumbers under the sea. Waiting for someone to set him free. He calls you from his tomb. His unforeseen doom. Your sanity he will drain. He's in great Pain. This horror you can't behold. The cult found his Stronghold. He Awakens from the sea. It's time for you to face the thing that should not be.
Losing sanity by getting wet is the right call. but you should increase your sanity for continued swimming. while getting wet is usually not a very pleasant experience. swimming for a while is.

What I meant is getting wet can be upsetting depending on the context, and a lot of upsetting things happening in rapid succession does tend to make a person less sane. Even if only a little bit
Loved the video, specially how you used a creepy version of a calm song when taking about insanity while using a happy version of a creepy song when talking about recovering sanity.
I didn’t notice the creepy version of a happy song, but I did notice the happy version of the lavender town theme.
@@marcusrauch4223I think the happy music turned into creepy music is from the snow area in Undertale.
@@cutestcreeper569 no wonder I didn’t recognize it. I never played it.
That way if we wanted to we could take something like the planting of flowers/seeds perk and combine it with the 'Ent' class to make a Minecraft version of Wormwood from the actual DST game (just as a proof of concept.)
Due to Origins basically being reduced to a datapack now, this combined with the sanity mod should make for an insane level of customization.
Also I imagine pouring lava buckets on everyone counts as sane way to get *free food* from mobs lol

All of these with an ever increasing chance of happening and duration as your sanity gets lower
The objective should be to make the players themselves doubt their moves and surroundings
Was that an invisibile mob that dealt you damage and/or made noises or was It an allucination? Fill the players with these questions
the inclusion of "HELP.tale" remixes to the showcase is actually really fitting, loved hearing them again
This mod seems highly inspired by don't starve, cool how they incorporated that mechanic on minecraft 😊❤
7:49 lightning strike reduces your sanity to *ZERO* , instantly, I acknowledged this way later than I should have. Do not use weapons that manipulate lightning strikes with this mod, please, *you are* going to hit yourself sooner or later

This mod is actually pretty cool for things like single player, taking into consideration just how lonely and eerie playing Minecraft on single player mode can get- what with how unbelievably vast the world size is, how full of monsters it gets at night, and how it really is just you in that world, all alone.
Nice! Been messing around with horror/survival modpacks recently, and this is always one of the first mods I add!
I think this mod would be cooler if there were not only "sanity", but also a "stress"
So it's like when something bad happens to you, like restraint, getting wet and other pretty normal stuff - it would increase your stress, not lower your sanity
But sanity will get lower when alone in the dark, or without a sleep for a long time and encounters with mobs and etc.
I like your idea but make it more like:
Sanity takes much longer to drain on its own however it cannot passively increase or decrease like stress can thus making it harder to manage instead.
It would be so cool if this mod was multiplayer friendly and two players could see the world differently at the same timeframes
instead of being actively punished for being wet, being out in the rain or in the water should make punishments harder, like getting hurt or drowning; i for one like exploring underwater and have underwater mods, and i feel like the basis of life shouldn't punish you like that
Hm, maybe sanity stays neutral when swimming near the surface but gradually decreases when you swim in 15-20 ft of the ocean? That could be a work-around, and maybe sanity decreases very slowly when at 15 ft but gradually increases when you go deeper into the ocean.
What do you think?
Also I love how the world turns into a _boisvert animation if you lose too much sanity.
I love boisvert so much omg and I love that u said that
I love how this mod makes you go out of your way to stay sane
After textConjure stopped uploading, I was left with a desperate craving for quality minecraft mod reviews, and you are excellent at that!
the creepyness of the showcase is really good and it adds to the mods vibe. this video is extremely underrated
Awesome mod and showcase. The mod just needs some incentive to go insane, get special items, and come back to sanity. Just like don’t starve. That’s such a fun feature.
fun fact: if your playing multiplayer, and someone sanity is low and the monsters attack him, other players cant see the mobs is they have sanity full or the level before the mobs appear, but the thing is that if 2 players have 0 sanity, they wont see the same mobs, each player sees something diffrent from the others whit 0% sanity, or highter but in the zone where the monsters appear, so if someone is getting attacked by a monster when they have low sanity, other players wont know what is attacking them
Damn this is a cool mod. Hopefully this gets more recognition
This just seems like DST's sanity mechanics translated to minecraft.
It literally is, the mod page outright states as much lol
The only thing different is it seems to be missing any incentive to be insane - there's no nightmare fuel or similar material dropped exclusively from the shadow creatures mentioned anywhere.
Man it shouldn’t decrease sanity if you swim or hunt, maybe hunting but swimming doesn’t make you less sane lol
This mod has so much potential, add things that you can only do when you are sane, and vice versa. Why not ores or drops that only drop when you are insane, just like in don’t starve
The truly “The voices of my head doesn’t leave”
I feel the "getting wet" and "teleporting through dimentsion) to lose sanity is a bit too punishing for doing a simple (and normal, in the context of minecraft) action.
It should probably be changed to "drowning" and "staying too long in the Nether/End".
Also, it's funny how you lose Sanity from attacking animals, but not villagers.
If you aren't sane everybody is black to you. I adore it
Honestly this is a really cool concept maintains your sanity.
I think being wet for TOO long should make you crazy
I love rain and walking/running in the rain, but being in it for >2-3 hours will definitely drive me nuts
@@urSinKhalYeah especially with clothing on in a survival scenario
it be cooler if the voices where less obvious and they would fade from time to time, thats like hearing a mosquito in your room but your never sure if its really there. your mind kinda tricks you into thinking the sound is still there.
I do hope this works with Vivecraft, because going insane in VR sounds so fun.
Why would you do that to yourself
All the video: keeping you disturbed and scared
Beginning: Moooooöœ
This mod is an great difficulty addition, but also and more importantly,a great message to take care of yourself in real life. All these effects, altough not always like in games, can apply to the real you if you don't take care of your own mind. When you're not okay, do things you enjoy, things that calm you down, hangout with people, talk about your problems, don't drown in your fears and the darkness. The game becomes ten times more enjoyable when you're actually doing good.
Take care of yourself gamers, or you might not be there to play anymore.
4:00 really good music choice, i bet its origins are in a really really good 2d rpg game
I really like the mod showcase format you have as well as your editing. it feels like not only a showcase but a guide. There isn't any text or music/sounds that feel out of place for a minecraft video. Super underrated, love your stuff!
I just want to say that I live your videos. Your channel is seriously underrated. Keep it up!
I'm surprised killing villagers doesn't count!
the effect that made So Cold was just an algorithm.
This one's sanity must've already crumbled.
DST players: First time
one of my favorite aspects of dont starve is the sanity system so its really nice to see a mod that implements that into minecraft
I've never seen a mod so accurately depict what it's like living as myself.
Schizophrenics unite
Steve is actually so sensitive he'd probably lose sanity over breathing wrong
Hunting shouldnt reduce sanity, swimming should only reduce sanity if the water is more then lets say 5 blocks deep
This was such a well constructed mod showcase! Thank you so much for this!
this is cool and all, but I think there should be more crossover with Don't starve with the mobs, things like Beardlings and those giant shadow monsters.
Theres a mod called the headhunter mod that seems really cool, would really like to see you review that one if you can
I read the title and I thought it said "Sanity: Descent into memes" LMAO
Wow two videos in one day?
Awesome
I feel that something that would be good for the mod would be the benefits of having a mentaly healthy (like the overlast srp addon mod).
because I feel that it is more of a mechanic to make everything more difficult (like the typical one of thirst and heat) than a mechanic that rewards the player for understanding it or punishes him for not understanding it
Nice
It would be so cool to play with with a cooking mechanic, so you had to eat cooked food in the mines that you had to put time into, and there were stakes to sustaining yourself besides just dying, and a hydration mod to mix in would be so nice. Lovely mod you have here
I don't like that music. I feel uncomfortable.
It's perfect!
Pretty amazing showcase, editing felt profesional, the music was perfect and the general atmosphere felt weird. 10 out of 10 showcase
What does "being near bad players" mean?
Players whose sanity levels are low
Also that's not how psychopathy/sociopathy or schizophrenia work AT ALL.
awesome mod review, really high quality stuff
This is literally a dont starve mod💀
Fr lol, its practically a 1:1 copy of dont stave sanity
good God, the music selection is crazy!!
Do the scape and run mod
It may be interesting that when you sanity is low, you can't sleep
how come getting wet reduces sanity?
Configurable
Well if you think about it you might get itchy from whatever was in the water, your clothes get heavy and soggy, there’s nothing to dry yourself off like a towel so it will take forever just to naturally dry off, you get all the dirt and other things from the ground stick to you, you might get cold or get sick, basically you would be kinda miserable if you got wet with nothing to dry yourself off so you lose sanity in mc
Thoughts of drowning
Everybody gangsta till enlightenment mod.
I'll rather be insane and get the ability to be feared than playing peacefully 💀
Don't Starve gives his regards! Although I'm thankful killing mobs doesn't decrease sanity in Don't Starve. Would've been a nightmare for some characters.
so this mod just turns Minecraft into don't starve.
