Yeah Charlie seems a good chap. I met him when he was on a publicity circuit for his “fun science” book and he came into radio programme I worked on. Nice guy.
I think McCoy also quotes a line in the audio adaptation of Cold Fusion. "A prison science can't deny exists within, outside, behind the latitudes of the human mind."
OK, so THIS was a surprise! Thanks! One correction: The third cameo is Sophie Aldred (Ace) not Janet Fielding (Tegan). I was originally supposed to have Sylvester McCoy(7) on a song as well but due to a communications mix up we missed each other.
My personal favorite bits of weird cannon that I know (mainly from listening to a bunch of random free big finish) is that the police officer in the first scene of An Unearthly Child is a part of the Tardis cameleon circut, and that the 2nd doctor once accedenlty caused a high school student to invent time travel, and he screwed up the whole of time and space.
6:41 Oh you know Peter agreed to appear because of that line. Unironically that is actual character development for the 5th Doctor. We need to watch Behind the Sofa listen to these
If we’re talking about the doctor singing how about when 6 rocked up to one of evelyn’s suicidal students and started singing Gilbert and Sullivan classics trying to make her feel better
My headcanon is that the Mary Celeste exists in the state of quantum possibility, the same state that dracula's in, it makes sense cuz it's kind of the same problem, so I don't see why not
I was going to mention Dave Bulmer's (demontomatodave) superlative version of the theme lyricalised. Then you went on that Marie Celeste bent and my brain stopped working.
Headcannon for the Mary Celeste: the ship entered some kind of weird zone where it split into several different timelines of events, each of which ended in a different disaster.
Have you talked about the BBV audios Professor and Ace yet? These are quite interesting, in one of them, Punchline, the Doctor is the star of a 70s sit-com. It features Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred, but they couldn't use the name Dr Who due to licencing issues.
I think you may have misheard a lyric. I heard it as "space V.D." (venereal disease) rather than E.D. (which I don't think's a recognised abbreviation). If you don't know, a venereal disease is the same as an STI, like crabs or whatever.
That thing you said about the Doctor benching companions? Eight did exactly that to Sam, taking her to a Greenpeace rally and then fucking off in the TARDIS for two whole years' worth of adventures with Stacey and Ssard, in the Radio Times comics.
The first doctor solo gap appears at the end of the War Machines. Whilst he is waiting for Dodo to return, is the only time he has no companions. All the others cross over. So with this abandonment mentioned it is the a second possible slot, but less plausible. The comic adventures with John and Gillian, plausibly occur before the unearthly child, when Dr Who was posing as Albert Steptoe. He likely had an employee that ran the scrapyard for him and used the horse and cart for the collections while he mooched off him.
You forgot in the first bit, that in the Titan comic The Comfort of the Good, the 11th Doctor just hums the oooweeeoooo as he's booting the main arc villain to his death
I thought "The Revenants" might also provide some explanation of a no-companion gap. But maybe assuming the Doctor all but abandoned Dodo is for the best after all.
if you think the marie celest is messed up wait till you discover how many times the doctor visited the 1914 christmas armistice. Hartnell was there twice and eccleston was referee to the football game. i suppose they all just ignored eachother or something i dunno XD the little drummer boy - 1st dr twice upon a time - 1st & 12th dr never seen Ciaro - 5th dr the forgotten - 9th dr (haven't read the weaping angels of mons but aparently that story also references the truce so who knows maybe tennant was also there. oh and the faction paradox bring it up because of course they did)
Have you considered doing a video on Doctor Who: Lust in Space? Nicholas Courtney, Katy Manning, Sophie Aldred, Mark Strickson, Terrence Dicks and Nathan-Turner, all playing parts in a Space Trial to decide the answer "Is Doctor Who sexist?"
I used to listen to a lot of trock in 2011 when I was 14. Then in 2019 I started listening again as some was on Spotify. One person who did some good stuff was Alex Carpenter. I listened to him a lot back in the day and again pre-covid. Jon Pertwee's song is one I also had on my phone back in 2011 too. As for the christmas Dalek song, the people who make Night Terrace (a great show you should listen to, if you haven't already) have a cover of it on their Bandcamp.
Does Dodo just have an accidental capability of spreading diseases? Next thing you know, the First Doctor took Dodo to Huanan Seafood Market in November 2019.
The Mary Celeste one easily can be retconned or explained away as "parallel or alternate realities"....but then again most of its stories were written in a time when nobody tracked what was and wasn't cannon so whatever 🤷♂️ Canon is in the eye of the writer at any given point, some writers are better judges of what should and shouldn't be cannon than others so ya know....take your pick really
The third Doctor was on the *Marie* Celeste not the Mary Celeste. Obviously a different ship. (Also the comic gets the date wrong so it was a different year too!) So at least that’s one less to worry about
The 8th Doctor does mention he left Samson and Gemma in Vienna to have a couple adventures with Mary Shelly before returning to them. I think its expressly stated in Mary's Story from The Company of Friends, or in The Silver Turk.
As a musical genre, disco, derived from soul, sounds different from the Pertwee song, which is more a novelty electronic track of its time. For interest, contrast it with the disco version of the Star Wars theme by Meco, or just if you're in the mood for that kind of fun. :) Also, while in pedant mode, content warnings are nothing new, nor automatically progressive. Consider Parent's Advisory stickers on albums, intended to placate concerned, often morally conservative parents, which go back decades.
Haha I know, I had the Meco track in my head but forgot how it went. I suppose Who is the Doctor is electronic spoken word? And to be PEDANTIC pedantic, I believe that's not an actual content warning and just me being silly. C/W as an abbreviation is more a modern thing. Not sure what is t means here.
I have met Charlie from Chameleon Circuit, at the very first European Vidcon. Glad to see he's on the "Not a Creep" list.
Yeah Charlie seems a good chap. I met him when he was on a publicity circuit for his “fun science” book and he came into radio programme I worked on. Nice guy.
I’ve always heard that he is, like, so cool.
I don't know the context between the Chameleon Circuit guys and now im sad, i used to listen The Doctor is Dying a lot
I think McCoy also quotes a line in the audio adaptation of Cold Fusion. "A prison science can't deny exists within, outside, behind the latitudes of the human mind."

Is the lyric space e.d or space v.d?
@@SamyulDavis It's V.D.
@@devospice I also hope you don't come down with a vernacular disease my dude! Great bit of fun, thanks for being a good sport :)

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII.... am the very model of a Gallifreyan Buccaneer
Gotta love Capaldi’s “cover” of Who is the Doctor too hahaha
I wish he'd do a full-length version.
My headcanon is that the Mary Celeste exists in the state of quantum possibility, the same state that dracula's in, it makes sense cuz it's kind of the same problem, so I don't see why not
Davis could you do a room tour? I'm really interested in what kind of weird doctor who things you have in your house.
Pertwee is talk rapping I'm so happy this exists.
Christmas just wouldn't be christmas without the Daleks asking for plumb pudding!
I was going to mention Dave Bulmer's (demontomatodave) superlative version of the theme lyricalised. Then you went on that Marie Celeste bent and my brain stopped working.

I'm honestly surprised that the Doctor took Dodo back because landing back in that bog planet after all those adventures
In a strange twist, it wasn’t Dodo. It was the singer Dido. Yes, I know, eh!

Im watching through the classic series on britbox and i truely cant wait to get to The Chase, it seems absolutely insane
have you heard Who is Doctor Who by The Brett Domino Trio for Blue Peter's 50th Anniversary special.
Finally a new broke canon video
That thing you said about the Doctor benching companions? Eight did exactly that to Sam, taking her to a Greenpeace rally and then fucking off in the TARDIS for two whole years' worth of adventures with Stacey and Ssard, in the Radio Times comics.
Starting off with one of my favourite bangers, Nice
Imagine if Chibnall originally intended the Chinese pirate queen episode to be about the mystery of the vanishing of the Mary Celeste.

Have you talked about Prime Ministers in Dr Who yet? I found out there’s a tv story called Tony Blair Regenerates where he turns into the 10th Doctor.
Well,
I'm spending Easter Sunday with a Zygon.
Oh no. He didn't. Did he?
YESSS WHO IS THE DOCTOR POG
Found out the other day they made vinyls of it and good god im getting one
I swear this series is how I stay sane.
Joke about Belinda Carlisle I can't be bothered to formulate. God I feel like the justice secretary.
if you think the marie celest is messed up wait till you discover how many times the doctor visited the 1914 christmas armistice. Hartnell was there twice and eccleston was referee to the football game. i suppose they all just ignored eachother or something i dunno XD
the little drummer boy - 1st dr
twice upon a time - 1st & 12th dr
never seen Ciaro - 5th dr
the forgotten - 9th dr
(haven't read the weaping angels of mons but aparently that story also references the truce so who knows maybe tennant was also there. oh and the faction paradox bring it up because of course they did)
I mean hey if any doctor references it they might be getting vague memories of doing it as the first doctor unless the companion mentions it
"Put it in the curry!"
Bought a copy, so I guess we'll see!
Oh god. “I’m the Doctor” sounds very like The Shamen. Horrifying.
Can't wait!

I don't even like Doctor Who, I'm just here for the amazingly researched and edited slow motion breakdown.
I use to love chameleon circuit, too bad I found out they are creeps
God those songs were dire. Devo spice Please don't wright again.I mean even the pertwee song was not that bad.
The legend is back!
why devo spice looks like every 2010 youtuber critic combined?
God I loved Chameleon Circuit, pretty hopeful that Charlie is still a good egg, it christ that band
Abslom Daak met Frobisher once. does that count as a piece of broke cannon?
i never knew we had Jimmy Saviles beyond the fandom
Does Dodo just have an accidental capability of spreading diseases? Next thing you know, the First Doctor took Dodo to Huanan Seafood Market in November 2019.

Holy shite, "Who Is The Doctor?" was by Rupert Hine?
I have that great shirt trip book, in a great condition!
Shirt trip
Would twice upon a time count as a 1st doctor solo adventure? Or would Bill and the 12th Doctor count as his companions?
The 10th Doctor didn't really 'bench' Martha. Martha decided to leave on her own.
...After threatening to kick her out three times and actually doing it on the fourth. They're so fucked. I love them.
Wait what's wrong with Chameleon circuit?
cover more doctor who related songs haha unless
