I went with my wife to watch John in Dublin a few weeks ago and we never laughed as much , we really enjoyed his gig . He will always be a very funny man and a lovely person and of course he is an Honorary Irish man as he says himself .
I once met John whilst waiting for a plane at London City Airport. Everyone else left him alone but I was the dick who was compelled to introduce myself and tell him how my mother and I loved his comedy. He was a real gentleman and understanding - as he showed in this incredible interview. He’s lived quite the life and has drawn upon it to make people smile and smile. Thanks! 🙏
John Bishop is a stereotypical Scouser.... Down to earth, likable and naturally funny bones.... I'm a Mancunian but I love the decency, authenticity and humour I see in the Scousers... Lovely people with great personalities x
What a pleasure to listen to this man. He comes across as thoroughly decent, hard working and down to earth. I often feel men of certain generations were cheated by being told that a 'good man' worked all the hours god sent to provide for their family when they should have been able to have some sort of work/life balance. My father got his first job at 12 and worked seven days a week my entire life. He retired at 52 and dropped dead of a heart attack a week later. It still breaks my heart that, not only did he not get to enjoy any of the things he worked so hard for, he never saw his children married or any of his grandchildren. I'm glad things are changing and l also love that men are talking openly about mental health. The more people realise that mental health is as important and as curable as physical health, the more people will not just live better lives but, also live.
This is a wonderful interview, John did indeed save my life, I was rock bottom with depression and then one boop on Doctor Who and I was back working on my art and creating and his encouragement of showing and praising my work on his show was so important to me. I grew up with undiagnosed Autism and Selective Mutism and experienced so much trauma and violence towards me from grown adults because I wouldn’t open up or when I did I was too quiet for them. I climbed a huge mountain of finding my voice and to have the time with John at White Rabbit Red Rabbit and speaking to the audience was incredibly special to me. He’s totally right about being quiet means the kind people settle down and listen, I felt so proud and loved especially when John applauded me. My ambition is to be a noted artist and for people in 500 years to know my work.
What a wonderful man John Bishop seems to be! His whole outlook is heartfelt and I have learnt a few lessons from what he was saying. Thank you for this powerful interview
God, I love John B. Great interview. Fantastic man, and wow, what an incredible person woman Melanie is. Comedy might have given him his life back, but she was such a huge part of that. Wonderful.
We didn’t have much as children but boy what childhood memories I have. I look back now and smile with all the scraps and adventures !! What a lovely man x
Saw him a year or so ago in Leicester Square theatre- he was literally arriving as the panto he was in overran but he came on stage and that bit about the stool to gauge the room. He asked for questions and soon had the whole room off 400 rolling around with tears of laughter. This guy is brilliant- it was all stories about his family and he just sparked off the questions from the audience so totally off the cuff.
Hey John. Huge fan for a long time from a long way away. I have been there with the break down of a young marriage . Very touching. I am glad you found your peace , thru comedy . Keep doing what you do.
Wow,so much to relate to...beyond the comedy side of his life, and his Dads story..the genuine tears, the dry throat moments, and humility....very moving...respect....
brillent interview i have seen john live 3 times the 1st time was doing the club and pubs and twice at the echo arena now the m & s arena personally it should be called the Liverpool arena or kings dock arena fantastic comedian
John Bishop has such a luminous decency about him. One line that I remember at odd times is when he was talking about his children "What's the trouble, son?". It would launch him into the funny part, but what stayed with me is the spirit in which he asked the question. Every kid needs to be asked that question the way John Bishop does!
Ludicrous insincerity are the words that come to mind. Not funny, just so boring, droning on and on about himself total yawnfest.!!! 🥱🥱🥱🥱 @@nikiTricoteuse
Love John Bishop, I'm the same age as John, I've just changed career, sadly, I'd never be funny enough to be a comedian 😂, huge change, not all good but no regrets ❤
Wonderful interview, well done John on taking those 'big' risks, guess the real risk is not going for it! Amazing how people rarely regret going for it! Brilliant guest to listen to. Thank you.
_And_ if you look at photos of Barry Gibb when he was young (when the Bee Gees were at their height?) he looks _so like_ John Bishop when he was younger too, I think they looked very similar, both good-looking young men and to be honest, I think John has aged a lot better, he's still a good-looking man (of course Barry is older than John, though I don't know by how many years!)❤🏴💕🇬🇧🖖
As a woman who was married had four children and a husband who did the same as John, but what a difference mine really was a bad lot, if he had been someone like john i would have have still be married to him. So glad life turned round for him and recognise that those times were difficult for all of us whose marriages turned sour by all i mean the parents and the children. The good fathers like him made time to be with their children despite the pain they were/are this is what the children will remember in the end. I realise now that you did manage to get back with your wife and children eventually and that this is a strong marriage that turned out very well. Good luck John Bishop it’s lovely that you have stayed a decent man and well grounded.
What i love about these podcasts is the genuine resl life questions no ego just fantastically put together and inspiring to listen too ...keep up the great work guys thoroughly enjoyed John ,so down to earth what a gent ❤

I was at the same school as John Bishop - he was in the year above me - he is exactly who you see. A genuine human with a strong moral compass.
My brother lived on Sextant Close in Murdishaw, he has never recovered to this day. 😂😂😂

Wow. Good for you. I'm glad you're beating your demons and overcoming your childhood trauma. I genuinely hope you thrive. 😊
@ Thank you 🥰🥰
It's very rare to see and hear such an honest and open interview. Credit to Dan Walker for creating such an environment for this to occur.
What's Dan Walker got to do with the environment?

A very moving in parts frank disclosure from the thoroughly likeable John Bishop .

Really great interview. Top man.
So did my dad and he had 9 children it made all of us do better ❤
Going to prison wasn’t the important part. It was the parent that came home that mattered.

oh no - I do not like the arrogance of the first interviewer's engagement... while John's ability to speak with clarity is so valuable...
I wasn't impressed with the interviewer either. But at least the two of them let John speak.
1966 BABIES are changing the world. I was born the same year as you and I am starting again at 58.... it's FANTASTIC
John Bishop lit up the room.
Without committing arson.... amazing for a Scouser x
