We appreciate Jessica for giving us the advice we all want to hear. May God bless her and this channel.

Don’t you think there would be more important things for God to do besides bless a TH-cam channel? 🙄😒

I’m not a photogenic person nor a photographer but I watch Jessica’s videos because her personality is so great and I just enjoy learning from her about photography it’s just so interesting ❤️ if I had an unlimited budget I’d hire her for a photo shoot just for fun ❤

Wedding photographer here: I do a ton of shoots in public spaces. I find that rather than messing about for too long with your subject/client/couple/model just start taking pictures immediately, and use the viewfinder - using the viewfinder helps me block the outside world out and gets me really dialled in.
And then the person in front of the camera starts to get dialled in - because *you* are. As the photographer, you really set the tone for your shoot. i.e. if you start to freak out a bit, the couple will too.
    Great video Jessica :)

Such great advice! These people won't remember you in 10 minutes! I'm not a photographer. It was something I loved in high school. And I love watching your content!

Great tips, Jessica! I'm a photographer in Rome, Italy, & a tip I have is that maybe you could also shoot at times of day when there are less people out, if you want to avoid the crowds all together. I love early morning shoots because you don't get that many people in the shots and also you get that beautiful morning light. But I totally agree that the more you do it, the less you care!! I don't care at all anymore about people looking at me and my clients, so that was so true!

i needed this! i am not a photographer but i LOVE taking photos. if i see something and really like the aesthetic, i'd want to take a picture. but when a lot of people are around, it can get a bit overwhelming, but it definitely becomes better with time

I got over shooting in public from a really young age, so I don't have any problems with people staring or asking questions.
But I'd like to say that it does take some practice and in time you really do get used to it. Have fun with it in the moment.

As a 28 year old non-photographer, whenever I see a photographer they just look important to me. I don’t ever remember what they are wearing, what they were specifically doing, I just remember thinking they were cool and had a black camera 😆 I live in NYC and there’s a lot, I’ve never thought negativity.

Good advice, so relieved that even someone like you sometimes still has to overcome anxiety. Just today I felt so intimidated by a crowded market place. My home town is far from what would be called touristy area, so an actual camera really draws attention to it.

As someone who’s considered modeling but always lets how other people will look at them change their mind, thank you for sharing. We really should all stop caring how people will look at us but what we will achieve from it. I’m always too shy to take photos and I hate it 🙁

Thank you so much for these words of encouragement! I don’t have a fancy camera but I really want to start capturing better photos even if it’s just on my iPhone, but I have anxiety when out in public and always worrying who’s looking and what will they think of me but when you said “tunnel vision” that really turned on a light for me because I’m capable of doing that for other things like at school when I’m doing work, now I want to apply that to photos! Thank you so much this will help me for so many other creative things as well!!❤

Maybe if someone starts off at Times Square there's soooo many people that you're just "one extra" aka you're more invisible there than in a park where you'd be the one and only interesting thing hehe

that number 1 tip applies to everything, and I always tell that to my younger sister who was afraid to speak up in class because she's worried about her classmates laughing at her if she said the wrong answer, then I told her that they will stop caring about that moment after a few minutes, so you should not care about what they think of you.

Awesome advice. I do get stress when talking my drone shots but I have to tell myself that everyone is not paying attention to you. That’s how I stay focus at the gym

Great tips! Can you create another vid on tips on how/where to connect with models who are open to shoot? I'm trying to build my port but can't find quality on 'MM', I feel like a creep asking on IG - not sure the best approach to network. Also wardrobe ideas and tips would be another great vid! Thanks!

The irony is that the more people there are, the less they all care. It's something to do with input overload, you can only pay attention to so many things at once. I also remember one time when two girls were shooting in the street: the model had a flowy, bright red gown on and they were shooting in the actual middle of the road (there were no cars passing), but no one looked twice and no one cared

Blocking people out but also interacting with people helps too. When you see people trying to avoid messing up your shot, thank them, let people walk by, smile then get back to creating.

honestly my number 1 problem when taking pictures in public (especially if it’s just me and 1 friend) is that I tend to get shy really quick, it gets worse when people starts to stare at us 😭
