Iv seen battery fitted in rear quarter behind the door card, was a great job with battery cut off switch fitted to door card on mk2 golf. Car is looking class!!
First of all: greetings from Belgium! I drove the same modell and colour in '91 - '93 (201.000 km - 243.000 km) (diesel). Take your time to finish! After that, you'll have plenty of time to enjoy!! 👍
This is the hard part believe it or not. Trying to go for a clean build means every nut and bolt that is dirty sticks out and it takes time to clean and get the way you want. Take your time would be my advice. You'll be amazed once the interior goes in and it starts to feel like a car again. Small steps, big journey!
Looks neat! I'm a bit worried about the battery in the trunk. Yes, it's (probably) an SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) battery but they also have vents. You're not supposed to charge them in closed spaces duo to the rist of hydrogen buildup. The can recombine the hydrogen with the help of added calcium, but sometimes that process is not quick enough. Since the MK1 Golf vents through the hatch (I think?) you should be fine as long as you keep the fan in the dash running. I'd open the hatch when charging externally opbviously :)
I think you are progressing really well Dan, with a resto like this I don't really think you should have deadlines as there is so much that can hold you up like suppliers not getting parts to you on time plus it puts unnecessary stress on yourself then you start rushing and cutting corners. I've never seen a car battery that small for a car like that Dan, is it some kind of new tech battery that has enough power to run the car 🤔🤷♂️👍
That fuel system Is alot simpler than standard gti which ran similar pump which included a lift pump, swirl pot & accumilator all hard to get hold of & mega £ & of course no room to fit it all. Hope your simplified system works
Cheers bud, yeah it is a lot simpler. Hopefully it will work. It’s similar to the sytsem on a TT which is what the engine is out of so fingers crossed 🤞
Hi Dan. All the way from south africa where the golf 1 was in production till 2009, that being said will you be putting a heat shield between the exhaust and the tank? The gap is tight there
Dan i have a project car id like too send you wont tell you too much unless u wana know more but i think in uk your the best option for this car let me know if your interested let me know all i can say is this car is one rare vw !
Cheers for watching dude. At the moment I don’t really have much time to do any other projects. That may change in the future though. Thank you for the comment bud 👊
Should probably do a little bit of chassis stiffening. More power, stiffer suspension and stickier tires than back in 1983 will all work in concert to try and twist that shell big time. BTW is the color original 85 Mk II Mars Red?
great video Dan, it's really coming on, how did you secure the braided lines to the underneath of the car, it looked like they were p clipped but not sure if you had to drill through the floor pan and nut and bolted them?
Loving the no one content. Can I ask where you got your blue work shirt from can you do them for your merch would love one with you print on the back. Great vids man 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
looking forward to seeing it done mate, what cable/battery are you using? mines in the boot but im looking at doing it again a but a bit more tidy and i think 8 gauge is a bit small?

Brilliant dan, spinning so many plates as usual but it’s all coming together 👏🏻
Cheers dude. There is a fair amount going on at the moment 😂
You feel that way because that is how we all feel when we are doin the small final details
Yeah I think so bud. Everything takes ages or needs modifying or ordering. Painful part of the process when you are impatient!
You should put sound dampening material on inside doors and rear panels and spare wheel well.

Coming together very nicely 😉
Thanks bud! So close now!
We had a week here in Calgary, where, no lie, it went from 16C to - 10C in a 24-hr period and then back 24 hrs later 3 times in a week.
Cool that... I love mk1 golfs !!!
Great job and another one that showcases your talents 😎👍✅✅✅✅✅
Very little but massively gorgeous 🔥👌

With a lithium battery it's even lighter and there is no hydrogen. Or, a regular battery with the vent tube running outside the car :)
looking good mate
Cheers mate. Hope you are well. I will be coming up to see you when it is on the road 👊
@@DanChambersDAC top man and yeah not to bad bud let me know mate il have the kettle on

It's a metal tank and the exhaust doesn't get that hot in turbo car also lots of air flow underneath the car. Hy Bly nie in joburg nie lol
Sick pal. Can u go vw show at tatton park in august so I can see it done

Great job looks really smart, why not stainless fuel lines??????????????????
Cheers bud. Money 😂 I am running out very fast!
What battery is that? Been following all along and am a big fan.
Lo podes traducir en español? Saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷
Are you keeping the look OEM? because the Jeep headlights will look insanely good on this build.

Nice job fella,, Did this car not have remote window adjusters. ???
Cheers dude. Yeah it did originally but the ones that came off the car were both damaged and I don’t have £400 at the moment to buy replacement ones 😔
beauty! what type of battery?
Why not replacing the plastic fixings with rivnuts?
looking forward to seeing it done mate, what cable/battery are you using? mines in the boot but im looking at doing it again a but a bit more tidy and i think 8 gauge is a bit small?
👍👏👏🙏🙏🇧🇷Fortaleza ce.
What is the name of spray that you have used to put mate?
💗💗💗😍
Remember mate the last 10% of the project takes 90% of the time.
Doesn’t it just! Painfully slow!
