    My wife and I are headed to being off grid in Northern Nevada. We are looking into setting up the off grid electrical in this manner (generator back-up). I will subscribe to see how your system is functioning in the future. Thank you for posting your video!

    Hi Renaissance Man, Very Interesting! I just got my Grid hooked up to my inverter and hope to get to start playing with it this week. I got to learn these setting more and how to make it do what I want. Very interesting here, I am going to have to study more on what you have here in this video to make sure I understand what you are saying and how it would apply to me. More later, it's late and i've run out of time today lol. Super Thanks for showing this. I'll be in touch!

      Super Thanks Dude! I got to spend more time researching with hopes I got it set right for the time being at AC volts Start 46.4V and end 49.6V only for if it get low with hopes my BMS will cut it off if something goes wrong lol, I feel a little like my head is on the chopping block but think that should work for now. @@theadventuresofarenaissancman

    Thank for the video! BUT, it is hard for me, a first time owner of a 6000EP, to FOLLOW what you are doing and what is happening on the screen. It would be very helpful if you explained what was on the screen and what you are doing when you keep pressing the buttons and the screen keeps changing, without any explanation as to why and what the items are that appear, especially at the top of the screen that you gloss over. Appreciate the video and gave “thumbs up” for doing it…..BUT, I’m more confused than when I started.😂

    I currently backfeed the house mains panel with a 12kw, 3600rpm diesel generator when grid power goes out.
    What would you think about taking that back fed power from the generator that is feeding the house mains panel and connecting it directly to the 240 VAC input terminals on the XP's when mains power goes out (instead of the gen terrms) for charging and supplying AC to the critical loads panel?
    Assuming the generated power has a THD below the max allowable 3% that the inverter requires, how much overhead would you think would be available to run critical loads after the charging load requirements?
    Nice videos, I've been a Vdub guy my whole life, know them inside out. Once had a bug that did 11's in the qtr, currently working on a Vanagon.

    • @theadventuresofarenaissancman

      You can reduce your charging amps, if your generator struggles to power the house and dc charging.

    • @theadventuresofarenaissancman

      DC Charging can use around 6,500 watts, assuming you set the charging to max.

    • @theadventuresofarenaissancman

      3,600 comment about the generator make me think that it's not a low THD (inverter generator). In a perfect world, assume 80% load on the generator...6,500 watts charging, leaves you with 3,000 watts for the house.

    • @sammyboyde6489

      @@theadventuresofarenaissancman Thanks for the math sir. I need to scope the generator and see what the THD is on the output before hooking it up like this. I just want to try and keep things manual and seperate. I do know that when I load that genertor up, it doesn't miss a beat, its not an inverter but it is a very strong unit.

    Awesome video. Man there are a lot of settings on these. So if I have a 5kw max continuous 240v inverter generator I would need to keep my loads down AND limit my generator input amps so I don’t exceed the max output of generator? Will that work?

    • @theadventuresofarenaissancman

      That's correct. You could use the EG4 Chargeverter if you wanted more flexibility.

    How does one wire the dry contact relays to a generator for automatic start/stop?

  • @051675cch

    I’m curious how the system works when the generator is sending power, the solar panels are sending in power and my house is drawing a load? Can the battery be charged and drain at the same time? Or does the generator and panels fill the load draw first and only send excess power to the battery to charge it.

    • @theadventuresofarenaissancman

      When the Generator or Grid relays are enabled...that specific input will cover 100% of the load and add to the charging rate. Up to the maximum rate.

    Great video. I find them very informative.
    Could you explain how to hook up the wiring from a generator inlet box to two or more 6000xp's ? Does the hook up need to go to each 6000 or to just the primary?
    With 2 6000's, I was thinking of wiring to a box inside near the inverters, but I wasn't sure how to make the connections from the box to each of the inverters.
    Thanks

      Morris Products 97643 Multi-Cable Connector, , Dual Entry, Black, 3 Ports, 250-6 Wire Range,, 5/16" Allen Hex a.co/d/71jLsYp

      You could probably install some Noctua computer fans if they're compatible. Cheap fans are loud. You shouldn't need a lot of cooling capacity being in a climate controlled house, just make sure you have enough clearance if the closet is small.
