Would love to see a video on this vs your Growatt 5k es, as far as differences and improvement. My main complaint with the Growatt is the fans never seem to stop even when drawing less that 500watts.
Hey Rodney, thanks for this test. That will put my mind at ease for my family while I'm away. I can also tell them the time they need to wait before panicking. After days of rain I'm happy to see some sun today.
I've been there with one my batteries. I thought it wasn't recovering from an overcurrent event and it was recovering. It was just stuck in a loop that was making it think it was still in OCP and my manual restarts worked on coincidence. Who knows what signature solar meant. These devices have crappy documentation and the value signature solar adds is the ability to test things. Based on the 6500s it will take them a year or two until they actually figure out all this stuff. I'm interested in these but got burned with the 6500s so I'll wait to see how these are for people after a year.
@Rodney a friend of mine is having issues getting his EG4 LL rack mount batteries communicating when his EG4 6000XP .. can you tell me are you using the CAN or RS485 ports and what protocol you set the inverter and batteries to? Also you use the orange cable that comes with the inverter or the cables that comes with the batteries?
Step 3 lithion ion then brand 0 for eg4 for lifepower4 batteries. Not communicating with my LL since they are nit close enough to my lifepower4 to reach with short cable and my system will charge at max with only 12 of my 17 batteries communicating. Rs485
First of all, I would like to start off by saying thank you for all the knowledge that you put out there to everybody. I got my E4 6000 XP and December per other peoples recommendations 10,000 W of solar is recommended so that’s what I have. All of my parameters are correct and not exceeding the limits Every single time my unit gets close to 7000 W of PV input the unit starts screaming. Can you do a video bringing in that much Solar according to signature Solar this is a problem that they are starting to see and do not know what the problem is. They are sending me out a new unit , thank you for your help if you can
Not yet! Starts both my Hvac but they are 1.5 ton and maybe 3 ton. Split type units air handler/compressor. Starts them fine. Will need to check amps one day
The 6000xp will only go down to 5%-15% then you can set it to start back higher. Will need to lookup the exact settings but I can test to verify one day. It should restart as I have had it stop when set to 15% low limit then changed it to 5% and it starts running again. 👍
It would be more efficient but this is easier. I have looked at a few options that the cost doesn’t justify it. But maybe one day I can Diy was something. The communication with the car would be beyond me I would guess if trying to use the dc charge port. I am sure you need communication protocol for it to start
I did see a true DC to DC option but can’t remember the name. It was nit a production model at that time so not sure if it is available but it was direct solar to car. Looked cool but probably only commercial applications for parking areas. I emailed them for info but no response
My eg4 3000 watt yellow unit also does this after several minutes so I guess it's normal for them? I actually only knew because I maxed it out but was still busy so kept doing what I was doing while it beeped at me screaming for probably the 4 mins like yours lmao. Then it started again I also usually just go manually flip it off/on
I didn’t have my EV charging at full rate and the water heater never came on. So it has overloaded before and I need that peace of mind it will restart if somehow it happens when I am not home. 👍
I still use the grid at times. Sometimes due to testing stuff and others because I am trying to save batteries for potential power outages during bad weather. So I run everything less than I should but a good amount of the time I am off grid.
The only problem i have with them is customer service I’ve had problems with the dongle not connecting to their cloud i sat on hold for over a hour with no answer and i emailed them Thursday and still haven’t heard back from them
I emailed them anonymously a few weeks ago and they emailed me back in 5-10 minutes. I thought were getting better. Did you email a specific person or the general customer service. Also you can try EG4 directly. Sorry for the trouble
@@rodneyhunt i think its my fault i set the s/n and pin in local settings either did it or pushing the button on the dongle reset it back to factory i thought it was to find wifi and get it to connect
@@rodneyhunt it worked fine until i did that now all i get is one green solid one flashing i see its connected in my app for my router so its cloud its not connecting to anymore
Great content buddy, love how you documented the whole process. Great job
Much appreciated! Thanks
Thanks for the update, Rodney. It's good to see that this feature isn't missing.
Only a little slow! 👍
Good to hear. I thought you were wrong. They are impressive but my 6500's are still going strong. When they crap out will likely go with these
They have been good so far and think they should be what I need for a while! 👍

Much quieter, more solar input, more AC output. 👍
The results are in!
Rodney proved it again!
Lol. Yes proved myself wrong unfortunately

Good to know. Thanks for the update.
Thanks for the help! 👍
Great improvement in your video. Really enjoyed this one. Thanks.
Glad you liked it! 👍
Thanks, mine also took around 4 minutes to restar after overload. I have 2
Wish it was a little less time but at least I was wrong! 👍
@@rodneyhunt I agree it feels like much longer than 4 minutes when all power shuts down unexpectedly 😫
Plug it into house AC as a backup and shouldn't notice the 4 minute delay based on what others have said.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for this test, I really appreciate you taking the time to show us this.
Thanks Again
Thank you! Appreciate you watching

Do you have a DB meter you can check your sound level?
A watched pot never boils! But a timed pot is a whole nother animal.... lol
Lol indeed
I’ve watched several of your videos. Great info. Thank you very much.
Have you found any loads that the inverters can’t start because of the surge?
Not yet! Starts both my Hvac but they are 1.5 ton and maybe 3 ton. Split type units air handler/compressor. Starts them fine. Will need to check amps one day
Great video. Will the 6000 xp auto restart if the batteries go to 0% one the panels charge the batteries back up to a specific percentage?
The 6000xp will only go down to 5%-15% then you can set it to start back higher. Will need to lookup the exact settings but I can test to verify one day. It should restart as I have had it stop when set to 15% low limit then changed it to 5% and it starts running again. 👍
Hey Rod, thanks for these videos. Wouldn’t it be better to figure out dc/dc charging for your car? Should be possible.
It would be more efficient but this is easier. I have looked at a few options that the cost doesn’t justify it. But maybe one day I can Diy was something. The communication with the car would be beyond me I would guess if trying to use the dc charge port. I am sure you need communication protocol for it to start
The Cost to install a true DC to DC is excessive. BTW most DC Fast chargers operate on 3 Phase AC...so you still have the conversion loss.
I did see a true DC to DC option but can’t remember the name. It was nit a production model at that time so not sure if it is available but it was direct solar to car. Looked cool but probably only commercial applications for parking areas. I emailed them for info but no response
4:30 seems like a lifetime when the Wife is trying to cook! Another Great Video Rodney.... My 3000ehv Resets much quicker (I have not timed it yet)
Yeah my growatts would restart fast but I didn’t time. Hopefully they update firmware to restart faster! 👍
Another great video. Thanks Morpheous 🙌🏼😉
My pleasure! Thanks

Yeah I guess I am too impatient to wait the 4 minutes that is why I thought it didn’t restart.
@@rodneyhunt yea me too until I was busy doing something else lol
At least we know now! 👍
Bless you sir!
👍 thanks
So do they need to restart in proper order, or doesn't that apply since they are still technically on?
It does it together on its own and had no issues. So nothing to do but wait. 👍
Tsk Tsk Tsk Rodney. you shouldn't doubt the Chinese engineers who make that AIO.
I know lol
Good stuff.
Thanks!
If you have to work that hard to get it to trip? ITS NOT ANY ISSUE!!!

Do you still use the grid or you grid independent.
I still use the grid at times. Sometimes due to testing stuff and others because I am trying to save batteries for potential power outages during bad weather. So I run everything less than I should but a good amount of the time I am off grid.
Thanks for that info i see in one of your video that you had use the 18k, why not use two 18k vs three 6000xp@rodneyhunt
I am asking these questions because I want to get into solar but I don't know which way to start
Cost and I run mine off grid only. If I ever decide to move my setup maybe I will try some out
What is your goal off grid only?

SolArk 12K 2 Minutes.
That sounds about right! They should be about that as well but maybe eg4 can update the firmware to fix the slow restart
5min is too long to wait for a restart
I agree! Maybe they will update the firmware
