So glad you like it! Wear it well! When I bump into an Arctic one, I'll get it. A really nice piece of product design that I'd be happy to have in the watchbox alongside the big dog. I think they've done justice to the fantastic Fiddy without cheapening it and hey, if more people are aware of Blancpain and the FF, then all good. If you don't like it, don't buy it... But I'm in a good mood: Estrella in hand after 2hrs freediving. Slumming it with one watch for a whole week. Life can be tough.

“Don’t see people queuing up in the streets to buy new releases of Seikos”?
No, they buy them on the interweb ;)

I'm a no date guy, I would have bought the white one until I found out it (no date models) has a ghost date, which is a deal breaker for me for any watch. I like the Swatch x watches, for the price of a strap I don't get what the problem is. I still think I'd buy a MoonSwatch.

A great opportunity to “try out” the Fifty Fathoms design, but also experiment with new colours. Perhaps one day you’ll buy the real thing.

This is not Blancpain, this is a Swatch homage to Blancpain. I'm not against this watch or the Moon Swatch, but this is a pure fashion piece. It's all about the label on the dial for those people who are willing to wait in a queue to buy one. And for those who are into watches I think the green Kamasu (or any colour you prefer), for example, is a much better option. If you put it on the same brown leather strap and compare both watches, this will definitely look like a toy. Don't get me wrong, again, I like Casios (but digital is a whole different story) and I even have a Swatch piece. So if someone wants one, I hope they'll enjoy it, just don't get confused by the company's marketing, this is not Blancpain.
What really drives me away though is the inability to service the movement, so one day this'll become a beautiful junk.
BTW, since I've mentioned my Swatch piece, the one I have is really loud, you literally would not want to leave it on your wrist if you're going to sleep because of the ticking. I didn't relly hear that on this video, so I guess these models are not as noisy? Sorry for a long comment, just my thoughts while watching this, enjoy the watch!

All watches are pure fashion pieces now

    • @zibel5007

@@SinnMaster I get what you mean, but I mean I still need a watch for checking time (it's obviously much more comfortable than using a phone) and some other functions (an alarm and a timer on my Casios, a rotating bezel on my diver, etc.). So I'm not wearing a watch only for the looks, it's also a tool. These big name collabs are a different breed, they're trying to be what they aren't, this is just a Swatch piece with another name printed on it, yet this single fact of having that name on your wrist creates those queues. Still you can have fun with it, of course, I don't want to be a grumpy dude here and we shouldn't be too nerdy and serious about it, I'm just expressing my thoughts why I'm not interested in getting one. Let's just hope this'll bring new people to the hobby, and hey it's still better than a smartwatch.

The caseback can be removed and the complete movement replaced. Therefore the watch is not completely throwaway. This fact was confirmed by Revolutionwatch in an online article dispelling the untruths about this watch. A lot of the negative media has been generated by watch snobs that haven't even had hands-on with the watch. Keyboard warriors so to speak.
I own the Antarctic version and have been wearing it everyday since I bought it from the boutique a month ago. It's accurate and fairly robust. I prefer wearing it over any of my 7 Rolexes. It's a fun, enjoyable conversation piece. Surprisingly I receive more compliments and notices when wearing it out in public than any of my real luxury watches. Yesterday a guy and his girlfriend at a cafe approached me and I ended up talking to a complete stranger for 30 minutes about it and watches in general. It's a phenomenon I've never experienced in my 15 years of collecting. It brings people together new and experienced collectors alike. I've also dropped it a few times and done gardening and panel beating with it on my wrist. I haven't seen any scratches on it yet and still keeps perfect time. People complain it's a plastic watch but it's actually two thirds ceramic which gives it more strength, scratch resistance and durability. I would say it's more robust for daily wear than any high polished luxury watch. If I did gardening or dropped my Submariner I'd be crying from the damage but with this $400 watch I don't much care. Also, if you can find a mechanical watch that has 90 hours power reserve, 100% anti magnetic, 90 meters waterproof, with an exhibition caseback and lume on the bezel that also works a treat, I challenge you can't beat the value of this watch.

@@oysterman962 fair enough. I don't have any luxury pieces, so I can't really compare it. As for your last thought, I'd day that Orient Kamasu, for example, is a much better choice in that category, unless you already have some other "true" diver watch. I change my watches almost every day, so I don't really care about the power reserve, if it works for at least 40 hours, I'm ok with that. But to each his own, and by no means would I want to sound like a snob. I have quite a few of vintage Casios / classic G-Shocks in my set, so I'm definitely not against affordable watches.
Enjoy your watch, btw I checked my first message and realised that I was talking about my _quartz_ Swatch, so of course this one isn't ticking like an alarm clock.

The only thing thats worse than a quartz movement is a movement that cannot be serviced.
