    Welcome back to the channel, sorry ive been a little quiet over the last few months but ive been super busy with work and jobs around the house, but we are back with an absolute banger.
    In todays video im trying out for the very first time the Hilleberg Anaris, this light weight trekking pole tent from Hilleberg looks an absolute dream, but with the unpredictable Lake District weather throwing a curve ball in, the tent really does get put through its paces.
    As always the views are immense on the summit of one of my favourite fells, with plenty of rum and good food to make this a camp to remember.
    Catch you on the next one

    Loved those hot dogs Alan. Nothing wrong with those 👌 i think the anaris needs a t zip onmer like my Lanshan. I wouldnt have one with the j zip door. Forgetting the views, its just easier where you can cook one side of the door while sitting inside and still get out through the other door. Just gives more option. Plus they need at least a foot of solid material at the bottom as thats the only place air is coming in and in that cold wind its not good. Set up was fine but of course its not designed to be that low as its really more for summer but itll be nice and taught when you raise it back to full when its warmer 👍

      Nice one Mike. Definitely right with the zips, I never thought the full mesh inner would be an issue but you was right … again lol
      I did notice it during the night, but like you said I think it’ll be a good one for when we finally get some warmer weather 🤜🏻🤛🏻⛺️

    Yep, it had been 3 months for me too between climbs but it is always worth the wait. Canny new tent mind but that price - yikes! Still, pretty light for a 2 man tend and not a bad effort for a first ever pitch and what a view that was and I will be up for a couple of tickets. Those hot dogs looked amazing but that winded sounded and I bet was baltic, good to see you out again marra, cheers Alan

    I believe that the purpose of the guys on the corners of the inner are to make the inner taut at the different pole heights.

    • @54DegreesNorth
      @54DegreesNorth  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah you’re right mate , but the lower you drop the poles you can’t get the inner any more taught,
      To be honest if I had more confidence in the tent ( like I do now) I would of kept the poles up and I don’t think I would of had as much of an issue
      Thanks for the comment mate it’s appreciated

    With 2 pole trekking pole tents you're always given a pitch height but on uneven ground peg the 4 corners then raise each pole as high as you can so the tent and then apex is taut. You might have a bigger gap at the fly edge on one side but the pitch will be great. Also to raise or lower the air gap on fly just lengthen or shorten the 4 corner tie outs. Cracking looking tent, I'd use that 3 season no problem.

      Nice one Chris, first time ever using a trekking poke tent, it’s a great bit of kit though, I’ll take what you’ve said on board mate thanks 🤜🏻🤛🏻

    • @chrisweldon2817
      @chrisweldon2817 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@54DegreesNorth pole height is the important part to get the apex taut you can then faff around with length of corner guys on uneven ground you might lose some bathtub height but if the tents tight it's not moving, that beast will handle some wind. You should try a Trailstar 🤣👌

    Hilleberg rules! It is that simple Alan, so really cool to see you in the Hill District with new gear and great views! Yes it is more expensive, but Hilleberg provides quality and durability. And seeing you put it up for the first time proves both that you are an experienced hiker and also that Hilleberg is quite intuitive to use. This kind of tent is not for me as I need something that can handle strong winds and cold nights, but for your use IN SUMMER it looks good! But you were cold up there and needed the rum and food on the new stove! And you are right about the food being right for the view😅As for the fundraising it is a worthy cause - mountain rescue teams needs support to keep going! So I will check it out as I might end up in your hills one day and in need of motivated volunteers! Have a great Sunday. All the best, Ant

      Hiya ant. It wasn’t really the weather for the Anaris but I was dying to use it so jumped the gun a little but happy I did, I bet the wind hit 35mph and the tent didn’t budge…. Hilleberg all the way mate

    I'm thinking of getting this tent, my concern is that I have never used mesh only inners, can I ask how cold the tent is in a wind, does the wind cut strait through, so any windchill factor is brought into the tent. I mainly camp in the peak district or the lakes, I have a Unna but wanted a lighter tent for summer use, but as we all know it still gets windy in spring summer on the fells and tors .. any thoughts around winds and temperature when in the inner would be great would be great

    • @54DegreesNorth
      @54DegreesNorth  29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hiya mate, so I’ve only used it 3 times so far, the outer generally sits quite high off the ground so the wind does come under at times, but the tent is so versatile, I just drop the side the wind is coming from further to the group,
      I’ve not been cold in it yet either. I’ll be using it from the back end of spring through to autumn
