CB1300 Pt6 Tank Removal

Who would believe removing a fuel tank could be so complicated? Emissions control legislation, fuel injection and spillage control all add to the complexity of what, in essence, should be a simple process.

Easier to remove R pin on the rear bracket..... and slide out the pivot pin .....that is what it is for....much easier.....enjoying all your videos.

I didn't try that, but my thoughts at the time was I wouldn't be able to lift the rear of the tank high enough to get a tool in while supporting the tank. The fuel line restricts how high the rear can be lifted.

Why dont you just cypher the fuel out the conventional way so much easier mate. Thank you for your time & effort in doing this video I’m sure the DIYers will appreciate you. Ride safe

Forgive my ignorance, but I'm not sure what you mean by 'the usual way'. The older bikes I've been used to (see my videos on the CB400A rebuild) were gravity fed without flow control taps so I would simply drain the tank through the tap. This has a vacuum line which opens the flow once the engine is running, so I used the electric pump as a quicker and easier solution... I thought!
I'm happy to hear other ideas.

@@mrmoodster5405 Just use gravity, siphon as much as you can get out then lift the tank up & put the tube so it goes all the way to the back of the tank, that’s the way I’ve always done it. There’s always residual fuel left in the tank afterwards.

@@mrmoodster5405On the x11 you can lift the tank at the back then slide your hand under and just put a hose clamp on the fuel pipe then slide it off the fuel rail. You might spill a drop but it’s a 5 min job.
Can’t understand why Honda made this such a ball ache even the blackbird tank is easier to remove.
