Interesting side note on Floor is that her husband, Hannes Van Dahl, was asked by one of his Sabaton bandmates to go see a Nightwish performance and it was love at first sight. I don't recall what year they were married, but Floor gave birth to daughter, Freja, on March 15, 2017. The band suggested that Floor bring Freja on tour with them and Freja celebrated her first birthday while on tour, so I guess we can call her a metal baby. Toumas paid tribute to Floor's family in the song "How's the Heart?" that he wrote for the 2020 Human Nature album.
And the acoustic version of How's the Heart with Troy is just amazing.

This whole concert is amazing. It was actually 3 hours long - and you can’t go wrong pick any song, it’s fantastic. Highlights are probably unleashed and consign to oblivion. Also; Simone was 3 months pregnant...
There are great performances from other concerts though.

Epica is the band name. Simone Simon is the singer. Floor's last name is pronounced YANsen with the "Y" sound. She is married to Sabaton's drummer/backing vocals, Hannes Van Dahl, who had been with Sabaton since 2014 to present . Sabaton is another band that you may like. They are a Swedish power metal band. Most of their songs are written about heroism in war. Floor also helped write lyrics to some of Sabaton songs. Worth a checking out.

@@nasa258e It's interesting untwisting the connections between the various bands, too. Like, Mark Jansen who gave Floor the shout-out at the end of this one, was a member of After Forever, Floor's first band. When that broke up, he and Simone (dating at the time) formed the band that would become Epica, named after a Kamelot album. And now Simone is married to Oliver Palotai, Kamelot's keyboardist, and has guested on a couple of Kamelot songs. So, yeah, when someone recs Sabaton to someone familiar with Nightwish, it's almost automatic to mention the connection of Floor and Hannes being married. Or as I've seen it put, the European metal scene doesn't have a family tree, it has a family Celtic knotwork.

Another vote for "Stabat Mater Dolorosa" - same concert, same duo.
The Retrospect tour is still one of the best DVDs I have ever bought. Recommend 'Design your Universe' , 'Consign to Oblivion' and 'The Phantom Agony' off this DVD as well as the orchestral 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa' starring Floor and Simone. Also Epica took their name from an alb by Simone's husband's band Kamelot. Check out Kamelot 'The Haunting' featuring Simone Simons.

Floor and Simone actually shared the same classical voice coach, but at different times. Simone never followed a formal music education, but did have a lot of private lessons.

To answer some questions:
1) Floor and Simone most likely had the same singing teacher. Hence the similarities although Floor is very versatile so she might have just imitated Simone.
2) Others have mentioned that "windmilling" or headbanging can be relaxing if done correctly. And it stands for the reason as i understand that dancing keeps muscles relaxed.
3) As for the orchestra dancing along i thought that i saw the conductor taking a few steps for that effect but he was visible only briefly. Choir on the other hand is kind of obivious.

I remember reading that the orchestra were originally fairly snooty/aloof about playing with a metal band. But, as you can see if you watch carefully, even the choir are (min)headbanging at the end.

Epica is the band name. The singer is Simone Simons. Her and Floor have been friends a longtime. Simone was pregnant at the time of this performance.
Floor and Nightwish have soo much more to offer, please also check out Floor's Beste Zangers 2019 songs and her channel where she does covers. And of course more Nightwish. you can tell Floor is following Simone's lead throughout this. she's a great friend. she knows this is Epica's moment, and doesn't want to overshadow things for them.
She has more power in her voice. She was tuned in a lower volume (I don't know if it's said like that in english) than Simone exactly because of that, it was Epica's moment, she was just part of it.

Anastasia, Floor on her yt channel has videos called "Floor Finds" where she interview other musicians, last one was with Simone and they talked about being a woman in the metal music industry.

@@asenka11 Epica is the name of the whole band :) The gorgeous lead singer is Simone Simons (soprano).
The founder of the band is Mark Jansen (rhythm guitar + harsh vocals). Mark Jansen and Floor Jansen were in the same band called After Forever. They are not related, just namesakes. After the departure from AF, Mark formed Epica and Floor later formed her own band ReVamp.
Simone Simons was Mark's girlfriend at the time Epica was formed (2002/2003). She joined the band very shortly after that. As you can tell, she is classically trained and her voice is usually described as "angelic and ethereal", even by professional vocal coaches.
I hope you're going to react to more Epica. You haven't seen anything yet! Epica is one of the biggest names in the symphonic metal sub-genre, just like Nightwish or Therion. Their music will blow your mind if you keep discovering it. Very diverse, from heavy headbangers through more mainstream-friendly, to wonderful ballads and acoustic versions of their song. Epica's musical composition is brilliant, no generic metal with yelling singers that you would forget as soon as they stop playing. Heavy guitar riffs combined with fully orchestral sound, choirs and one amazing soprano, often in juxtaposition to Mark's harsh vocals, the concept that comes from gothic metal and is known as "beauty and the beast". Their song structures, melodies, chord progressions, time signatures, etc., everything is amazing!
"Sancta Terra" is probably not even in their top 10 best songs. Most Nightwish fans only recommend it because it features Floor. Would you like some tips from Epicans? :)
Epica's Chasing the Dragon live is my vote for you to experience next! It is the only music that has made goosebumps reach my feet.

Best reaction I've seen to this song. To immediately recognize the difference between Floors and Simones (epica) voices, much props to you. Many seems to fail hearing the difference between them. Simone Simons (pregnant at that moment) and Floor Jansen are lifelong friends. The one shouting out Floor’s name is Mark Jansen, also a prior band member of After Forever (Floor’s first band) not related to her. Jansen/Janssen/Janssens is a very common name in the Netherlands.
Epica did celebrate their 10th anniversary with a unique live concert. A 70-piece symphonic orchestra and choir will accompany the band at the Klokgebouw in Eindhoven (NLD). Especially for this show the band has invited the Hungarian Extended Remenyi Ede Chamber Orchestra and Choir of Miskolc National Theatre. Also, because of the great demand by international fans, Epica announced a live stream, called the Retrostream, on March 4, 2013.

This song is about a suicide commander who believes he will go to heaven after his dead, but he ends up in hell. But will he?

My favorite musical place in Russia is the Tikhvin cemetery in St. Petersburg. Buried there are Glinka, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Borodin, Rimski- Korsakov and others. It would be a wonderful place to perform.
