I was loving the game at this point. Like I spent 5 hours getting here cuz I was just taking my time. So when I was locked into this area with no clue how to get out, and finding Quirrel at the bench and talking to him revealed that I was right above this capital city that was teased so much up until now I was exited. So I sat there looking at the rain for a minute and ventured down and took that elevator to the ground and that beautiful name comes up when you hit a new area, and I saw the sprawling city beyond, I almost couldn’t move. I was just so entranced in how the music swelled, in how giant the backgrounds were so I kept wondering what it was like to live in. It was truly a magical experience for me and that’s one of my favourite moments from my favourite game ever made, I’ve never been able to replicate it with any other game. I just hope Silksong delivers on that front.

Oh really? I did my best to loop it and I got lucky at hiding it, it's somewhere around the 15 minute mark where the chorus and other instruments die back down and it's just the piano playing. I just managed to cut the timeline at just the right spot so you couldn't detect any skip in either the music or the game audio, so... I hope you enjoy it!

I’m pretty sure the other videos are just doing something like playing the official soundtrack version of the piece over a video of them standing in the City of Tears and they add their own ambient rain. This video actually recorded it all in game, outside, for as long as possible.

It's Raining Somewhere Else for the chill showers. City of Tears for straight downpour(No thunderstorm though) only. I haven't played Sweden in, or seen Sweden played in the rain, but Voice of Return(NieR Automata) was alright in heavy showers. I was thinking of No More What If's, but Beneath the Mask is just so good for the rain.

Yeah, I tend to project myself onto the hollow knight, and most other characters I control in video games, but sometimes I can't explain what I'm thinking, I'm just basking in the beauty of the city of tears and being inspired by it. God I love this game, lol, I need to finish it!

The City of Tears especially will always hold a special place in my heart. The aesthetic of the city, the constant rain, the music, the name. Everything about it feels like a place I want to belong. The pure joy I felt as I dropped through the elevator and was greeted with the text sprawl, that is a feeling I’ll never forget.
This entire part of the game was radiant with a variety of emotions all coming through at the same time. Not loud and blaring, but gentle and welcoming. The feeling of coming home was fully captured here. Friends racing to the door to see you after so many years. Warm greetings filled with hugs and grins so wide it'd make your teeth fall out. Full conversations about your failures and triumphs over the years. The calm silence from those listening to everything you've been through since you left that day. The rain gracing the windows in the background as your tale delights the ears of those enthralled with your journey. The story breaks from Mom setting the table and calling everyone to dinner. A brief pause disrupts your thoughts as you glance outside. How much has changed since I've been gone? Did I hurt the people I love by leaving? Is this city no longer a safe place because of what runs rampant on the streets? Have the horrors of the world rotted the place I once called home? Mom's second call to dinner jolts you from the rabbit hole of anxiety. Warm crescent rolls and a savory stew were merely the beginning of an unexpected feast to celebrate. Tears of joy were spralling out from Mom, this was the happiest I could remember seeing her. It was enough to spark tears of my own. Those tears were a mixed bag of happiness, relief, and a bit of regret. I wonder what Dad would say if he was still here. The day he went to Deep Nest and never returned shook our family to the core. He was the backbone of the family and with him gone the responsibility passed to his children. I couldn't bring myself to tell them that I had been to Deep Nest. That I touched his very skull with my own hands. It's one thing to lose someone, it's a completely different beast when you've made physical contact with their dead body. It changes you in ways that cannot be undone. Mom could tell I was dwelling on something and read me like a book. The sound of mouths full of food was broken as we began to make a dent in the mountain of a feast present. There'd be leftovers for days with no complaints from anyone. We played games with the whole family with the occasional story since the others kept wanting to hear more. What seemed like an endless night coupled with the downpour outside was the kind of respite I needed and craved for so long. Time had gotten away from me and before I realized it the evening was primed for bedtime. Everyone was winding down around me and I was left once again with my own thoughts. My own mind constantly battled me for some form of validation of how I had lived my life. I knew I could silence them at a moment's notice by forcing myself to sleep. Deep down I didn't want this night to end. So much time had been spent fighting and surviving just for a simple night like this, it had left me exhausted and weary. I wish I could stay here forever. This world was unfair and its people were left to pick up the ashes. I knew that tomorrow I would have to say goodbye once more, and venture out into our twisted world. Until I rebuild this shattered place I can never rest, not even for a moment.

To me, my favorite moment in this game is taking the elevator outside in the city. And then on the top of the screen "City Of Tears" as the music swells and being able to see the city for all of it's glory. That's one of the reasons I love this game so much.

I've never been so addicted to a soundtrack like this before. Usually, I'd spam a song for a week and then it ends, but this one, definitely hits different. I've been listening to this soundtrack for more than a year, I can easily say that I heard this masterpiece for more than 24 hours, yet it never failed to give me chills. I was so scared when Hornet suddenly appeared because I only had 2 masks and no soul, but what I got instead was an incredibly beautiful and atmospheric area. I don't mean it lightly when I say my first experience in this area was fucking magical, I wish I could experience it again.

this brings back so much nostalgia, this game is an absolute masterpiece. I miss playing this game and getting here for the first time only to be blown away. Sometimes i really wish that I could experience this game for the first time again. For anyone reading this, you should definitely play this, and make sure to take your time to really soak in the world, because appreciating the minutia and detail of this game just makes the experience that much better. I found this game right at the peak of covid and it really brought me happiness when i needed it most. I really wish that i could go in blind again :(
Absolutely beautiful, this piece is utter perfection along with this game, I’ll never forget quitting down on broken vessel (I know, I was pretty bad), and after finally beating it months after I had bought the game, coming back up to the city of tears and hearing this music at that time of my life I didn’t know it yet, but it was one of the most magical things to have happened to me in life, and thinking of those times now makes me sad, this music quells those thoughts, I love hollow knight.
I was quite busy in an unforgiving job last year. Finishing most days 1 to 2 hours late, with a normal 8.5hr working day so some days went around 10 or 11 hours back to back 5 days or 7 in a row. No Then I found this game. The relief from the ambience of this game, the escape I was given kept me sane. I think people underestimate and undervalue the therapeutic effects that games like this can have.
City of Years is such a beautiful place in this game to me because in lore it's stated to have been one of the busiest and most populated places in Hallownest, and even in ruins it still holds this magic no other area has, and it makes you wonder what it looked like before the fall of the Pale King and the Radiance came about
This is so... comforting. It's like a music of a tragedy. A tragedy where... the glimmer of hope, no matter how faded, still shines, even amidst the chaotic and all too destroyed ruins, there's still hope. That's what I feel when I listen to this music, it's my favourite theme in the game. It helps me cope a lot.
Legit if you ever wanna bypass that, Nvidia Shadowplay can record without showing the watermark. I just didn't use it at the time because videos recorded with Shadowplay were acting all weird in my video editor

Or Quirrel because whenever I saw him I felt like “thank god a familiar face” especially in deepnest. this brings back so much nostalgia, this game is an absolute masterpiece. I miss playing this game and getting here for the first time only to be blown away. Sometimes i really wish that I could experience this game for the first time again. For anyone reading this, you should definitely play this, and make sure to take your time to really soak in the world, because appreciating the minutia and detail of this game just makes the experience that much better. I found this game right at the peak of covid and it really brought me happiness when i needed it most. I really wish that i could go in blind again :(

Absolutely beautiful, this piece is utter perfection along with this game, I’ll never forget quitting down on broken vessel (I know, I was pretty bad), and after finally beating it months after I had bought the game, coming back up to the city of tears and hearing this music at that time of my life I didn’t know it yet, but it was one of the most magical things to have happened to me in life, and thinking of those times now makes me sad, this music quells those thoughts, I love hollow knight.

City of Years is such a beautiful place in this game to me because in lore it's stated to have been one of the busiest and most populated places in Hallownest, and even in ruins it still holds this magic no other area has, and it makes you wonder what it looked like before the fall of the Pale King and the Radiance came about

This is so... comforting. It's like a music of a tragedy. A tragedy where... the glimmer of hope, no matter how faded, still shines, even amidst the chaotic and all too destroyed ruins, there's still hope. That's what I feel when I listen to this music, it's my favourite theme in the game. It helps me cope a lot.

Just wondering what everyones favourite character is Elder Bug Grub Father Hornet or Ghost(The character you play as)
Hmm, I haven't actually finished the game yet (for some reason, blasphemous I know) but I think I'm really liking hornet as a character. And can't wait to play as her in silksong and hear her talk!
Gotta be either Lemm cuz I‘m so into the lore of this game and he just gave me tons of things to think about. Or Quirrel because whenever I saw him I felt like “thank god a familiar face” especially in deepnest. But tbf every character in this game is great, I’m really looking forward to the new lore with silksong and can’t wait for it to capture that lightning in a bottle that was hollow knight
