I couldn't find anything like this on TH-cam so I decided to put this together myself and upload it for everyone to enjoy. This is my favorite video game song and it holds a special place in my heart, so it felt only right to include the calm ambiance of Balamb town with it.

ff8 had everything. light, dark. romance, comedy, hate, jealousy, politics, friendship, time-travel. this game is a gem.
Yeah and the music is some of my favorite in FF and means a lot to me, though there's a lot of good tracks in all of Final Fantasy

My almost 3-year son fell asleep to this song on our road trip to visit family. Kind of a full circle moment. Final Fantasy’s music is unrivaled.. such nostalgia from playing all the games when I was a teenager.
Same here, I used this song for my son, after my first playtrough when I was 9 or 10…it really feels like a full circle moment❤

Imagine a peaceful world where people were walking around your humble town being friendly and generous to each other. The few bad seeds were known and avoided but never treated like a lessee human being only treated the way they're deserved. Everything is peaceful and no one is scared to be out in public or alone in public. A world where people can enjoy others company and be genuinely happy with their lives instead of feeling the need to grind their lives to death just for some green paper. The oceans are calm the skys are blue. You can wake up without anxiety of the everyday stresses. Wherw happiness comes from the heart rather then the dollar. The real happiness. The world I want to go yo when I die

One fine and hot day in 1999 at the beginning of the school holiday.
Still remember clearly when I reached my living room, just throwing away my bag and playing this game until 6 without changing my uniform. My mom's screaming was the only one that could stop me from playing.

I still remember when 2 of my brother playing this ff8.. I like to watch only bcoz of the soft n breezy music..when both of them still teenagers.. Now both of them alrdy 30s.. Really miss tht time when we are still stay together wth family..

I'd play this game sixteen hours straight back in the early 2000's until falling asleep in this town just standing around. I'd run the game time up like crazy without a care.

Disc 1 of FF8 may be the best FF has ever been. Balamb garden and town are such realised visions. The whole thing goes off the rails a bit in the late game IMHO. Good thing I never managed to get beyond disc 2 as a child.
This game had the most beautiful soundtrack and ambience that i ever heard. It was like a dream.

I do love FVIII OST, but I think VI a Chrono Trigger are just a mm ahead. You might have b eonto sometihng with the uniqueness (I take that as meaning diversity!)

I feel this song sitting at the lake of Lugano in Switzerland at the tiny harbour. It is peace.
I remember. I had only just recently got this game. The sheer beauty of that coastal town. I had had a fight with a friend recently, I thought that friendship would be over. This song made me ball my eyes out. It convinced me to message that friend. I still am friends with him now. It inspired me to take action. I am forever grateful for this small costal town right down the road from the balamb garden.

I guess almost everyone can relate to that song in some ways. It's the sounds of coming home, to our small village where we grew up. We remember where we're from who we used to be and who we are now. A sweet mix of memories and melancholy and yet, a place where we will always belong. Thanks for the upload :)

I just started this game and I stayed in this town to just listen to the music while I did house chores. I don’t know what’s going to happen yet, but I hope I can still come back to this peaceful town and listen to it’s music. ❤️

Yeah it's one of my favorites. Some parts are good like the music is my favorite of the FF games probably, but then the gameplay I guess presents the most interesting questions because of how experimental it feels I guess, even tho it has tons of issues. Games like that other people can look at the interesting ideas and make more refined versions of them and get a better sense of good design. It's definitely gave me many ideas
I wanted re make but I feel like us that played the original should get to just keep this as a classic game for ourselves. #notafanofff7remake

I wonder if it is legal to setup a nursing home specifically for old retired Final Fantasy gamers (like avoiding descrimination lawsuits). I'd put the soundtracks of every Final Fantasy on loop.

The first time I played this game, I instantly fell in love with it, the soothing relaxing music, the way the characters looked, the scenery and background, everything was perfect in my eyes, I simply love the elegance of it all, so peaceful.

Absolutely love breezy, used to leave my playstation on for hours in town just so I could here this play over and over, now that we have music streaming I listen to it on repeat on my phone to help me sleep, but now that you put this video out with perfect balance of music and ambiance this will work wonders
I'm so happy! That's exactly why I wanted to share this with other people, so they could hear it like it sounds when the game is running without actually having to do that. I just recorded it straight from the game so it wasn't all that difficult to make this but I couldn't find anything on TH-cam with the ambiance included and I love this song too. I felt like it was my duty at that point to do something about it, lol. I'm glad you enjoy it!
@@VoidWatchers haha well fantastic job, I plan to pick up the revitalized version on xbox as soon as I can, theres very few final fantasy games I dont have, those being the iterations for the Wii, PSP, and old gameboy versions. I still have my original working copy of FF7 and 8 for PS1, just no way to play them sadly

@@phoenixrising1426 Yeah that's a predicament, lol. If you want I could suggest budget PC parts if you ever feel like getting into PC gaming or just having a decent PC to use for whatever. It actually doesn't have to cost as much as you might think to get something much more powerful than the consoles out there right now. Just offering because I enjoy playing on PC so much and want others to have a wonderful time too.

Been listening to this since it's release till now nearly every since day. Never gets bored with this. It helps me to relax and puts me to sleep. It may sound simple but to me it's a masterpiece.

I can barely remember the details of the story now since I played this through only once way back in 99, but the music, locations (and card game!) are burnt into my mind. FF6-9 were the pinnacle of JRPGs IMO.
Definitely has some unique elements in the gameplay department, tho also severe flaws at the same time. But when it comes to music, visuals, and everything else it definitely sticks in my mind

This image... is it really from Balamb town? I think it's in the infirmay in Balamb Garden, where Squall woke up right after the intro. Why I do remember that? Something about that moving curtain... and the gentle breeze... EDIT: Just checked, it IS the infirmary. The fact that you chose this image literally makes you my soul mate.

This theme represents my thoughts after leaving my old home. Where I can finally be myself and live the life I want. To finally experience being the person I want to be and to express my personal emotions clearly. The boy who loved this game is now the free girl who loves this theme
After leaving my parent's place and living how I want with people that love me I can say it's pretty awesome, even if there's hurtles on the road. It's like a new chapter of life, where we have the chance to grow into confident and strong-willed women. I wish you luck in your journey 💖

@@VoidWatchers I wanted to do that same thing for the longest time, but I don't have the resources or knowledge to do it! I mean, lots of people just remake the music alone which is nice, but I've missed the sounds of the environment in the background! Understandable that a lot of people would only want the music alone, but the additional background sounds just gave the song More Life! in my opinion.
Now on those days off when no one is home and the neighborhood is empty, I can just play this loud, lay back, and let myself doze off!
@@ssjzx I was playing using an emulator so I just recorded the audio from Balamb and of course recorded something else for the visuals and looped in a video editor

Just listening to this song conjures up the smell of the room I used to play this in (I think my Dads aftershave??), new Dragonball Z episodes straight afterschool, knocking on freinds houses seeing if they could come out and play footy (soccer, to the yanks). Such a wonderfully peaceful and striaght forward existence.

what makes FF8 so very special was the music, characters, story and gameplay ofc which i know some will not agree with me but thats just my own opinion i will always be devoted to FF8 and had been since its release back in 1999 i still have my original ps1 japanese version 4 black discs of it... still have all the accessories esp the Lionheart/Griever necklace

My favorite too ;) I'd also say that imo FF8 has the most easy characters to relate to. They are students, the story starts as if they were simple humans just like us (but mercenaries.. SOOO COOL ^^), that lets the player a lot of room to identify in them. Anyway, it still is my favorite Final Fantasy.

Can't hear this without remembering when Galbadia was occupying Balamb, In order to get inside the hotel, you had to track down Raijin who was supposably sleeping somewhere. Then, you find that he used Zell's residence kitchen to cook the fish that he caught. Also I think Lulu and Wakka from FFX was reminiscent of Fujin and Raijin.
Balamb town or fisherman’s horizon seem like comfy places to live and retire in
"Eden" is a fitting name for this channel because if you were to translate a word into an ambient sounds video, THIS video would be what you got by translating the word "peace".

I’ve always had a thought since I was young when I heard this music to retire to a small town like this just live my life enjoy fishing, some good beer and friendly company. That’s what this song reminds me of.

Loved this game as a 12 year old. Fast forward 23 years and I'm now playing this to soothe my baby daughter during night feedings.
This sounds a lot like a Chrono cross track. One of the best pieces in the game.

The whole og squaresoft era of FF is chock a block with banger after banger game but for me something about ff8 just feels like it's really homely compared to all the others i've played and that's why i'll always cling to it the most of the bunch
